ease finding motel
By lukegma
It was dark and raining the first time I came to stay at this motel. I almost passed the entrance to it as there is no sign at the road and there is a long driveway up to the motel from Thistledown. [More] Had I not glanced to the right and seen the "H" on the building, I would have missed it. Of course now that I know where the motel is, I won't miss it again. I do think it would be helpful to have some sort of sign on Thistledown with an arrow pointing to the motel. [Less]

Nice stay! Will stay at this location in the future. [Less]
Great, friendly staff
By MRW75
This hotel met the needs I knew I would have before traveling to Raleigh. The staff were courteous, friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was very good. While my sleep wasn't great, it had [More] nothing to do with the hotel itself, but rather having to much on my mind for the trip. I would definitely recommend this facility and return, should the need arise in the future. [Less]
Home away from home..?
By Agent 00-Trav
So I checked into the Apex Candlewood Suites hotel for my job training. I actually really liked the stay! The first time around the room was adequate, very well put together, and really comfy! My [More] only complaint both times were the mattress. It was a touch too firm for my back, and hurt my lumbar area. The second time around I checked in for job training I got the room right next to mine, which was a handi-capable room. I didn't like the layout too much, but that's just an aesthetic complaint, the features and functions still worked beautifully. [Less]

Good Property
By Fourester
I stay here when in the area for business. The only changes I would make, which includes all IHG properties where I have stayed, is blackout curtains that you can close on the windows. It is always [More] very bright outside the windows, and there is no way to block it out. This time, I had 2 double beds, so I hung the bedspread from the other bed over the window. Another issue is the size of the parking spaces. Construction workers are the primary users of the IHG properties during the week, and they have big trucks, as do I. It is hard to get into these spots. Bigger spots and more maneuvering room would be nice. Everything else here is standard for Holiday Inn Express properties. Staff is very friendly and helpful. There are plenty of eating places in the area, and a full service gym across the road, as well as a track at a park nearby. Close to Jordan Recreation Area. Just off US 1. I recommend especially if in town on business. [Less]
