Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Overall Stay at Candlewood The staff from Kyle, Danielle and the others were outstanding> They made my 3 month stay with them a great experience. I would and will stay here again on future business trips. March 15, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay at a slightly expensive price... I definitely recommend this hotel. If you have small pets, they can stay their, for the deposit fee of course. Great location to Ft. Belvoir and the Alexandria area. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our hot water went out the first day and they had it fixed in lees than a half hour. Great accomodations, although if they had separate rooms in the suite it would have been better. Overall great stay. March 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exceeded Expectations Wow, with having stayed at the two other hotels next door and not caring for the rooms or their construction at 7am. It was a delight to walk in the lobby of this hotel and immediately know the difference. Rooms were great, bathroom good size and who can't love a updated kitchen for your convenience. Loved it and the price was comparable to their neighbor hotels. March 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My experience I truly enjoyed my stay here, the staff was cordial and very helpful. I will be back very soon. January 17, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent value for the right visitors The nights I spent here just before New Year's Eve were a very pleasant surprise. The hotel is surprisingly modern, the value excellent, and (as at all Candlewoods I've visited) the staff was friendly and very helpful. The shower water pressure left much to be desired, but this has sadly been the case at most Candlewoods, in my experience. Do be aware, if you are visiting the area to sightsee in DC, that the hotel's location is far from ideal. As someone who spent my career working in this area, I can tell you that the rush hour traffic into DC is horrendous and goes on for hours both morning and afternoon. Unless you can plan to travel in and out of DC at the rare off-peak hours, you may find this frustrating. On the other hand, if you are visiting friends/family as I was, or sightseeing in VA, this location represents an excellent value. January 16, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Turned into a nightmare.... What started out as a pretty good experience ended in a bit of a nightmare. The last day I was awakened to someone banging on the door at 7 a.m. (even though I had the ‘Do not disturb’ sign on the door), and before I could even cross the room I heard the door start to open (I’m in my drawers and nothing else now) so I catch the door and push it, to which what I got was a shove BACK against me! I had to SHOVE the door hard as ‘someone’ was trying to come in no matter what! After struggling against the door I poked my head out and it was the maid! I asked if I could help her, and she motioned to her clipboard and said “Clean Room” and started to push against the door AGAIN! I pointed at the “Do not disturb sign” and said the words; “Do not disturb” which was answered with a slew of Spanish, to which I asked if she spoke English and was told “Pokeeto”. I pointed again at the Do not disturb sign, and she still did not seem to understand, so I just closed the door and latched it, and called the front desk to which I was told “oh, sorry”. Now, as if that was not enough, I booked two rooms for 3 days apiece. The first two days of one room was using my reward points, the last day I just charged to a card. This was apparently too much for the guy running the front desk who came to my room while most of us were out eating breakfast and told my son that we had to leave as we were past checkout time (now mind you, I had that room with a confirmed and signed reservation for the additional day). Before we could even make it back he went back to harass my son AGAIN and told him that we needed to “GET OUT!” When I returned to the Hotel to talk with the man, he was very confused and seemed to be looking for an argument. He did not seem to understand that I had the room reserved for an additional night. He had BOTH reservations in his HANDS and was telling me that the room was already reserved….after arguing with the man for 10 or so minutes trying to convince him that he was confused, I literally had to use the papers he was holding in his own hands and SHOW him that the person that he was waiting on to show up for the next reservation WAS in fact ME!! To which all I got was a curt, “Oh, I made a mistake.” No apology. Nothing. To top it off? I then found out from the late shift person that he told her that she needed to charge my reward points for the additional night. Luckily she called me to confirm and I had to go through the whole thing again. Unbelievable. I found out that the whole maid thing (which was freaking BIZARRE beyond words, why would you try and force yourself into someone’s room like that??!!) Was due to the clueless front desk guy telling her that she had to clean the room since we were checking out….uh, at 7 am in the dang morning?? (Even if I didn't have the room for another night, checkout is at noon!) If you DO decide to stay, the rooms are REALLY nice. Good luck with the other guests though, there were a lot of those contractor dudes there so the parking lot filled up with big trucks and the Hotel hallways with large, loud yelling, drunks by about 8 pm to whenever they passed out (which for us was around midnight). Of course the staff did nothing to stop it. I don’t think I’d recommend this one….too much hassle. January 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great! I stayed here for 3 nights and can highly recommend this hotel. The reason for choosing this hotel was the pet room availability and the super convenient location to the office I needed to go to. The place felt save for an alone traveling woman and that is a big PRO! There is a dog park (enclosed area) just 1 mile down the road which was very convenient for me and the pup. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, very comfy and it was nice to have a real fridge and a cook top. Free laundry with brand new machines is a big PRO too. I even saw all kind of things in a shelf that could be "rented" or "borrowed" ; I did not need any of it this trip, but I really thought that was a great idea and I'm sure some long term guest will be thankful for it. I loved the coffee in the morning and was told they will serve breakfast soon in the future. Internet was free and worked great too. All in all a very good experience and I will always look for Candlewood Suites from now on. November 27, 2012
