This was my first time ever staying at a Candlewood Suite hotel and I must say I had a great experience overall. The front desk clerk was very accommodating since I arrived two hours earlier, the cleaning staff was very friendly and appeared to enjoy where they work. The room very clean and offered more than I expected. The cupboards were filled with basic necessaties, the only thing I wish that it had was a small frying pan since the room offered a electric stove top. The location was very convenient to the interstate, mall and places to eat. Whenever I am visiting Chesapeake this were I will stay without a doubt....

Our stay at this location was not as pleasant as prior visits. Very nice and clean, for the most part, establishment. Front desk attendants excellent and housekeeping service excellent. We had a need when we checked in and the housekeeper was off, but immediately assisted us and making sure we were comfortable.
The only concern this time was the bed linen wasn't up to standards, especially the pillows, but again the housekeeper assisted with that. We put in a couple request concerning the microwave alarming - but never was corrected. Eventually, we just unplugged it for the rest of our stay. Last but not least - was not aware of the 3 day cleaning of the room. Prior we only stayed over night, so upon this visit we stayed two nights to find our room not clean nor clean towels, but was given to us as exchange. This I would have prefer to know in advance. Over all nice stay. Will not stay more than one night.

Nice stay but didn't like where my room was located, which was near the laundry room. Didn't sleep we'll b/c washer was going all night, so avoid room #305.

My husband and I arrived quite early, before check in time and they accommodated our early check in. The room was quite large with a full kitchen. The water pressure in the shower was a bit weak but clean. Nice quiet area. What got me a little upset was that the clerk at the front desk when we checked out asked us for a dollar due to the young woman forgot to add on an extra fee, sorry but that is not our fault, we refused to pay it. That being said, overall it was a lovely stay.

Upon getting into the room, I noticed the overhead cupboards were coming loose from the wall. We informed the main desk and the cupboards were promptly repaired.
We found it to be a clean, comfortable accommodation.
One drawback we found the mornng we were leaving, the ice maker was not working. Personnel at main desk supplied us with ice and placed the ice maker on list for repair.

Absolutely no issues.
Great location for those does not want to be in the noisy Virginia Beach, but at same time near to several beaches and tourist locations.

Our daughter's family and ours were bound for the NC Shore. We found out we were on the 1st and 3rd floors. The staff asked if we wanted to be closer together. We said yes-we tried this when making the reservation to no avail, however the staff found a way to do it on our arrival. Kudos to them.

I have stayed at a Candlewood Suites several times in the past, all with great service but not this 3 night stay. Before I start listing all the ways this hotel fell short, let me give credit to the lady behind the desk when I checked out. She adjusted my bill based on a few of my comments which I truly appreciate..
I reserved a room with 2 double beds. Upon arrival I was told that they did not have any and they would upgrade me for free to a suite. Well the suite was okay but it was not much of an upgrade since my grown daughter had to sleep on the sofa-bed, which anyone knows will not provide good rest. I walked into my non-smoking room and immediately smelled smoke. Little did I know that they intermixed a few non-smoking rooms on the smoking floor. For some reason, smoke does not respect the signs and goes where it wants (hallway, other rooms, elevator, suitcase, etc). The first night there I asked the night desk attendant if I could get another towel. He said that towel exchange would not be until the next morning. I proceeded to inform him that I just checked in earlier that day and there was only 2 towels in the room for 3 people. After he wiped the food that he was eating off of his face with his bare hand, he slowly meandered to the back only to come back empty handed. I am somewhat relieved that he did not handle a clean towel with those hands. He said there were no clean towels. When I asked, "So, you don't have any clean towels in this whole facility?" he rudely replied, "What, do you think I'm making this up?"
Other things: This is obviously a hotel that worker's use a lot. there were construction trucks all over the parking lot and they frequently backed in with the trailer hitches blocking 3/4 of the sidewalks. The internet was EXTREMELY slow!! Thankfully I had a network cable that I plugged in for some extra speed. The hair dryer was broken and the remote for the main TV didn't work.
I realize that things happen sometimes but this place has some serious management issues.

I work in this area of Virginia several times a month & the only hotel I'll stay at is the Candlewood Suites in Chesapeake. The staff are friendly & efficient, the rooms are very nicely appointed, clean & set up for ease & comfort! The rooms have great kitchens, heavy comforters on plush beds & my Boarder Collie/Business Partner is welcome. It's a surprisingly affordable room for all you get!
I recommend this hotel to anyone.

We have stayed here every Thanksgiving since they opened. The quality of the hotel has been consistently high. It is located close to restaurants and mall shopping. Definitely recommended. Plus... it is "pet friendly".
