This hotel is a great place to stay if you will be staying in a hotel for more than two weeks. It is great for business or leisure. The staff is very friendly and personable. They were very accommodating to me and my Husband during a very stressful time when we sold our home and was waiting for our next home to be built. We will definitely recommend this hotel to others!

I love it here...... Pet-friendly at that... We travel for work and we always stay here. Nice people that work here also.. Always Very helpful and work hard to keep the place clean..

Bathroom fan was making a loud groaning noise when turned on.fridgerator was making a loud noise as well.when I calked the front desk she said she would open a ticket.great. in the meantime why not put me in a different room.
Lifes too short to put up with bad customer service.

Stayed for 2 nights. The front desk staff were great. The rooms were clean and spacious. Excellent value for the money. The only down side is that the dog walk area leaves a lot to be desired.

Conveniently located for anyone working at Ft. Jackson. Also close to plenty of restaurants, shopping, and the downtown area. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The laundry facility was a definite plus for a long-term stay.

My wife and I stayed here 3 nights to attend our grandson's Basic Training graduation and family day. From the very start the front desk staff (Karen) was exceptionally friendly and helpful. She made sure that we knew how to get to the base, called to make sure that our room was acceptable, and even hand delivered our "frequent stayer" rewards form to us. Our daughter arrived the following day and Karen again provided exceptional check in service plus made sure to congratulate her on her son's (our grandson's) graduation.
The room itself was comfortable and clean, though we did find a couple of cigarette burns in the linens. The fridge was full sized so it accommodated our sodas, bottled water, and coffee creamer quite easily. The coffee pot is small, but it did make enough for 2 cups. I also liked the fact that they provide "to go" coffee cups with lids.
The only thing lacking, and this really wasn't an issue for us, is that there wasn't any type of breakfast. While some may find this inconvenient, I personally did not. There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance, and the fridge and pantry will hold plenty if you want to stock up. There is a Wal-Mart about 1/4 mile away, which is where we picked up our sodas, water, and coffee, so we could just have easily bought milk and cereal, toaster waffles, oatmeal, etc. had we wished.
From the hotel it was about a 7 minute drive to Ft. Jackson, so I would say that the location was very good for the reasons that we visited Columbia. Once we were able to take our soldier off base, we still found that all of the places that we wanted to go were no more than 20 minutes away, including restaurants in the downtown area and the airport. There was no ambient noise (railroads, freeways, etc.) so room was quiet at night.
Overall, I found this to be a good hotel and would definitely stay again.

I have stayed here in the past for business trips and the quality was excellent. This time the front desk agent was extremly helpful and kind. However, the sheets on my bed had lint on them which made them rough fro sleeping. You could tell that some of the towels need to be replaced because they are yellow and stained. I went and purchased towels and hand clothes for bathing. I booked the room at 79.99 for the first night and was tricked by reservation into thinking that the second night was the same. It was 92.00 and I was not aware of that until I checked in. Being that I paid thru advance purchase, the front desk informed me that there was nothing they could do to help. I wanted to cancel the second night or either get the same right. Nothing could be done. Things like this left a bad impression and I don't think I will be returning.

Good location, clean room. Needs more of a variety of sweeteners for coffee.
Door stuck upon opening every use.
Need an updated TV guide list - -when I called front desk around 7 p.m. clerk told me she was checking in guests, could she call me back (asked her for updated TV guide for two channels) and she never did.

My family and I recently stayed at Candlewood Suites for two weeks while waiting to move into a new home. The staff at the Columbia hotel was SO awesome!! They were extremely friendly and accomodating. We felt so comfortable and at home in the hotel. The hotel was very clean and we had all of the things we needed to make our stay comfortable. The only reason we are not rating our experience five stars is that there was a damaged recliner chair in our room that we felt should have been replaced before our extended stay. The door to our room was also damaged upon our arrival making it more difficult to open the door with the hotel key,

Thsi was my 2nd stay at htis Candlewood suites, I fould the staff very attentive and wiling to go the extra mile to make sure I was comfortable. I had a really nice room where the the bedroom was separte from the living area. It made my sleep that much more enoyable. I'll be Back!!

I have been a traveling nurse for the last 8 years. I always try to stay at Candlewood Suites if one is available. Great value for the money and staff is always very helpful. For an example. I left articles of clothing at this location. I went back 2 days later and the girl at the desk found them for me. Always very pleasant and helpful.

We had occasion to stay here recently to attend the military graduation of our daughter at Fort Jackson. From the minute we checked in, we were made to feel special. Our room was clean (no dust on picture frames, head boards,etc.) The room was comfortable, full size kitchen was much appreciated and spotless. Very nice to be able to use the computer if necessary in the lobby with a closed door for privacy. The laundry facilities were also a welcome addition. Slept almost as well as at home, thanks to the comfortable beds and very clean linens. We would definitely stay again if in the area. The staff was helpful and very friendly at all times. Can't think of even one negative, which is rare since we have traveled all over the country, and stayed at many different hotels over the years. Thanks to all for a most enjoyable stay!

Outstanding property, the very thing that brings me back, smoking room is a big plus as so many properties no longer provide smoking rooms. THANK YOU!!
If I may, I would like to address the cleaning schedule. I booked for a week and the cleaning day was set for the last day of the stay. So the poor rating on flexibility reflected a poor method of choosing the cleaning day. I my case, the 5th floor on Saturday as I recall.
Only a minor issue in the big scheme of things but it was annoying.

The HVAC units are such that the fan doesn't run continuously. Since the windows don't open, this makes the rooms stuffy.
The mattresses are mediocre at best. Apparently this Holiday Inn property cuts corners. ventilation
However, clean rooms and great staff!
