    Duke University visit

    This hotel was very affordable and the staff was very friendly and made sure we were aware of all the extras that your hotel offers. We were very happy with the room which included a full kitchen, a bar area to sit and a spacious bathroom. We would definitely stay at this location again.

    Not Like My Home

    Upon check-in I was informed that the DVD player had been removed and placed in another room because they couldn't rent out a room without the DVD player! Even though I asked, I was never given a DVD player during this stay. I was surprised that the rug was not replaced or even fixed neither was the dishwasher, the kitchen sink, the A/C or the large burner. I was not acknowledged as an IHG Member nor was I asked about my stay.

    With the A/C set on 69 degrees or lower the heat came on bringing the temperature to 76 degrees. They wouldn’t move me or put on the by-pass. They did provide me with a fan to use. Fortunately I brought a Hepa filter which also has a fan and helped with the odors from the food trash and dirty linen left in the hallway. It was not uncommon for the trash to be left in the hallway and for over 24 hours. This was also true for the trash cans in the stairwells. On many occasions instead of taking out the trash, they would just add another cart in the hallway to be filled. I've seen as many as three carts of food trash left out in the hallway. The inappropriate and unprofessional actions of the staff outweighed any good. I never used housekeeping and based on the room condition upon my arrival, I didn’t miss much. I was glared and mumbled at when I tried to pass housekeeping carts. It was a good thing I brought my own linen to sleep in.

    If you don’t mind the condition of the room – dirty rug; exposed nail strip; cobwebs, lack of paint on all surfaces; stained toilet paper holder, drain and rails; black on bathroom floor etcetera, the hotel has a good location with a nearby grocery store, pharmacy, restaurants etcetera. There are homeless people nearby sleeping at night and begging for help during the day. I understand they do have some nice rooms where things work. Maybe you will have better luck.

    If the room conditions had been fixed this time or next, I might have been able to forgive the conditions due to lack of sufficient staff and other excuses. I found out it takes months to fix a toilet, dishwasher, sink etcetera. I experienced empty promises, failure to follow through, and failure to fix which is reflected in the low score. My pictures would not upload and I have been censored. At the time, I was conned into believing. Since then, I have had more experiences as a conned guest.

    Amazing Staff!

    This was our home for almost a month while we transitioned to the area. It was centrally located to everything we needed with great shopping close by. The staff was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING in responding to all of our questions and needs throughout the stay. An amazing value for the quality and all the amenities. With a family of four, the complimentary laundry facilities were a great bonus. Also pet friendly! Thank you to the Candlewood Suites Durham-RTP Family!
