Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Experience was just OK We attend an annual conference at this hotel every year and we really enjoy the conference. The meetings rooms and technology in the rooms are wonderful and perfect for our conference. It is very convenience to stay in the hotel during the conference so we do not have to leave for the whole weekend. The buffet offered for dinner on Saturday night is tasty but it is disappointing that ordering from the menu takes 45 minutes to be served and your only option really is to eat the buffet. It seems that more waite staff and cooks should work during this weekend. Also, the entire weekend, there was only 1 elevator that was operational. There are many folks that can not take the stairs and had to wait 5+ minutes for the elevator to their room. I was able to take the stairs but they are very cramped and dark and it was a workout just walking to my room on the 5th floor more than 6 times a day. I also wish that the smoking areas were moved away from the entrances of the hotel, so that the hallways didn't always smell like smoke and that these smoking areas would be enforced. The quality and cleanliness of the room was perfect but I just wish the beds weren't quite soo hard and the bathroom size wasn't soo cramped. I mean, you have to shut the door in order to be able to use the toilet paper dispenser. Other than that the rooms were perfect. The exercise room is very small with very few machines. The pool is nice but I am not big swimmer in the winter. I am a Gold priority club member and was acknowledged as so only after I showed my card to the front desk person. I don't feel I was treat exceptionally as in other IHG hotels and was denied a late checkout. I do understand that the rule was across the board for everyone attending the conference BUT I am a prioty club member and feel like the rule should not have applied to me with how much money I spend in IHG hotels annually. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely Hotel This is my fourth time staying at this hotel and I continue to experience clean rooms and attentive, friendly staff. Plus, you can't beat that indoor heated pool! January 14, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic - Quick and easy to check in, despite only reserving hours ahead - Comfortable room with nice king-size bed - Did not use any of the extra amenities (pool, etc.) January 2, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Ok for what it is Our room was cleans nothing special very old & outdated bathroom. They did bring a crib up to our room which as convieniant. Resturant was overpriced. Shuttle service was awesome! December 30, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not good service from the airport We have stayed at this hotel before and have enjoyed it but had never needed the airport shuttle. This time we flew in at 3:35 pm with no luggage to p/u, so I called them by 3:50. Spoke with the driver directly and he said he would be 10 to 15 mins and told us where to wait (outside in a bus shelter). He finally picked us up at 4:45, with no apology only some excuse that the boss had to be driven somewhere first, before coming to pick us up. Very bad ending to our holiday, we still had a 3hr drive ahead of us and did not need this delay with an ice storm heading our way. If quick pick up from the airport is a necessity do not pick this hotel. December 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location and nice staff We enjoyed our stay! It was a perfect location, they let us check in early, and our room was nice. December 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by comfortable stay Attended a company party, got a great rate for being with a group. had no issues at all. December 10, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing Restaurant Manager II stay at this property regularly since it has been remodeled. I find the property convenient to the major highways, and consistent. On my most recent stay, I had an outstanding experience in the restaurant. The restaurant manager stepped in to help in the kitchen with a few orders, and the results were outstanding. For 2 nights in a row she personally prepared my meal and the results were the best. As a rule, I find hotel restaurants to be just OK, but in this case, I will be staying at this hotel again, and definitely using the restaurant, particularly at this young woman is working the kitchen. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Terrific Stay Stayed here for several days while on business. Excellent service and location. Room was pristine and comfortable, staff was overly accommodating to any needs I had. Niagara room restaurant had excellent food and service. Only downside that kept me from renewing with them for similar trips was the lack of a mini fridge in the room. November 21, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great location rooms need updating I have stayed here several times over the years, it is very easy to access off of the NY Thruway. The lobby has been nicely updated. Bar/lounge is very small. Rooms are in definite need of upgrading, patched ceiling in my room, older carpeting, VERY TINY BATHROOM in the room. November 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay! Hotel was clean and comfortable, pool was nice (although the 'lifeguard' couldn't have looked any more disinterested). Staff were very friendly, especially our restaurant server. We will definitely stay here every time we're in Syracuse. November 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice room and very comfortable bed Very nice and clean room. Bathroom a bit small but still efficient . We only stayed one night and had a great night sleep. Bedding was super. Will go back if in the area!! November 5, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Never again I found the room terrible, smallest bathroom I have ever seen , no microwave or refrigerator, when that night I asked for a bottle of water I was told the vending machine was around the Conner. I will be traveling 4 to 5 times a year for several days at a time over the next few months, I will not be staying there again. I stay at Holidays inns all over and my company has a lot of other people that do the same. I was very unempressed. November 4, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Holiday Experience Ever My husband is a Platinum level member and always uses Holiday Inn when he travels for work so we used points for a 2 night stay to look at colleges. Upon checking in we learned a Christian Fellowship Conference had booked the first 3 floors but we were assigned a room on the 5th floor. The lobby was extremely loud with young adults/teenagers everywhere. When we got to the 4th floor we found groups sitting in the hallway. As we walked down the hallway we actually had to step over legs as they were sitting across the hallway. Carrying our luggage we passed this group 4 times bringing items from the car. We encouraged them to move but no luck. The next day we informed the front desk. They told us they did not have enough meeting space for the group but they were not to be on the 5th floor. When we came back later in the afternoon 2 new groups were now camped out on the. 5th floor. They were running in the hallways at night. Went to use the heated pool but it was cold. This was a horrible experience. We ended up speaking to the front desk multiple times as did other visitors. The hotel was obviously overloaded and overwhelmed and a change could not be achieved. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Small bathroom Our stay was pleasant. The only downer was the extremely SMALL bathroom. It was hard to get around even with 1 person using it! Otherwise staff was helpful and overall stay was fine. October 16, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Stained Leaky Toliet My husband & I were in town for the Syracuse game and made a same day reservation therefore our choices were very limited. We did late check in and left right after breakfast the following morning so our experience was very limited. The back of our toliet had some type of brown stain, flushed so loud that it woke my husband when I used it at night & by the morning the handle was leaking. October 9, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable The service was fantastic, both cleaning staff, food staff and front desk staff all courteous. Only flaws were breakfast not included and there were some hairs in the bath. October 7, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by great front desk service not so great room The room had flies!!!! Not one or two. But at least 10 of the annoying ugly things. I called the maintaince office and they said they will take care of it but needless to say nothing was done. I had to spend the night swatting flies that night. The bed was lumpy and painful. The cleaning crew walked into the room the following morning at 8 am to clean. Did I mention I was getting ready!!!! Though she apologized but still 8am???? The following day same thing when check out wasn't till 12noon. I wouldn't recommend this hotel is you have other options. Though i must complement the friendly and helpful font desk crew. They were willing to do almost anything to help. Shuttle service to all places and back. Late checkout. They mad the 2 night stay worth the trouble. October 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Property With The Staff To Match! Our room was very clean and comfortable, the staff was fantastic. We were greated with smiles each time we went to the lobby. Artrell was very knowledgeable of the area and very hospitable- a great personality to represent the hotel. October 5, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by OK if you are small Just back from a three day educational conference at the Holiday Inn Liverpool, NY Room: Started off on the wrong foot when I could not get the key card to work in the lock. After multiple attempts, a housekeeper came to the rescue. Neither key card worked correctly, and it took multiple attempts every time before the lock would work and let me into my room (did not matter what key card I used). I had a room with two double beds. The room also contained a TV stand, a small desk and desk chair, and a lounge chair with ottoman. WiFi is provided free in all rooms and conference areas. While there was enough room for me, a larger person, or someone with assistive devices or wheelchair might have found it challenging. The room was immaculately clean. Smoking is not allowed inside the hotel which was a definite positive for me. There is a coffee maker, but no tea bags were provided. As I do not drink coffee, this was a negative for me. The walls are not particularly thick, and I was awakened several times during the night when loud (as in drunk) persons came down the hall talking, and some ended up in the room next to mine. The bathroom was incredibly small! The toilet is angled from one corner so that the door will close. I am quite small, and there was barely room for me to turn around (literally) in the bathroom. Conversations with my colleagues indicated that the bathroom was pretty standard, and the larger individuals among us were VERY unhappy with the arrangement. There is NO WAY someone with an assistive device or a wheelchair would even be able to get into the bathroom. Luckily I was staying by myself, because I cannot imagine more than one person was trying to get ready in the morning! There is no outlet by the only mirror outside of the bathroom, and only one (small) person can stand and use the mirror in the cramped bathroom. Four people in this room (given the room and the bathroom size) would be tripping over each other, and getting ready for bed, or to go somewhere would be a logistical nightmare. Restaurant: Many of us ate at least one evening in the hotel restaurant. Prices are very reasonable for the size of the portion. Companion 1 had the fried haddock and French fries, which also came with a reasonable salad. The haddock was at least a ½ pound fillet, nicely cooked. Companion 2 had a burger (looked to be about 1/3 pound). The burger was cooked as ordered (medium rare), and was declared to be quite tasty. Companion 3 had French Onion Soup. It was presented in a medium size crock with a heavy topping of melted cheese and bread. As I was not very hungry, I ordered the appetizer of fried calamari as my meal. It was a very large portion, with nicely fried rings and tentacles served with both cocktail and tartar sauce. As an appetizer it would have easily served 3 or 4; as a meal I could only finish about 2/3s of the dish. Quite the bargain at $8.99. The wait staff was attentive without being over bearing. Cons: On the last day of the stay check out was at 11 AM. Management knew that I was participating in the educational conference (there was a conference rate and one had to state with the reservation that they were attending the conference), and that the time of 10:30AM to 11 AM had been set aside for participants to check out. After attending an early morning presentation, I returned to my room to find that it had already been stripped and cleaned. Regrettably that “stripping” included some jewelry that was on the bedside stand. I was able to track down the housekeeper in another room, and when confronted she did produce the jewelry from her pocket. Perhaps she had it there for safe keeping until she could put it in lost and found – one can only hope. However, IMHO, it is not reasonable for the housekeeping staff to clean and strip a room when the occupant has not yet checked out. October 3, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great to have free wi fi in my room! They stay was fine, but adding a third night to my 2-night reservation seemed to cause some snafu's. Two days before I left for Syracuse I added a third night to my existing 2 night reservation. The first two nights went smoothly but later in the day after the 2nd night, my room key no longer worked and I had to get another. Not a big deal. But I also discovered later that day that though the maid had made my bed, she had not cleaned up used towels, nor replenished used soap and shampoos, nor coffee, coffee supplies and cups. Somewhere there was a disconnect in my reservations that probably for future travelers should be corrected. Otherwise, the stay was fine, location convenient, clean, okay. though nothing unusual, except the free wifi all over the hotel counts for a lot, and makes the motel special. Thank you. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Average. Nothing thrilling. The mattresses were encased in a plastic cover, making for a bit of noise throughout the night. Bathroom was incredibly small. Room overall was clean and as expected, and staff was pleasant. The swimming pool was FREEZING. We were assured it was 85deg, but the kids lips were blue after five minutes. Average hotel. September 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasant experience Everywhere was very clean and the restaurant staff were exceptionally friendly. September 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Annual visitation My husband and I stayed there because the location was so close to our visitation meetings. When we arrived there was a little problem with our reservation but the owner himself immediately was very helpful and resolved the issue in seconds. The stay was great and the breakfast was very good for a continental breakfast. I just wish we where able to enjoy the pool area after our meetings but unfortunately it was closed by the time we came back to the room. I would use this hotel again for our next trip in the area. September 13, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Got in late, didn't feel the usual welcome We were heading home and weren't sure how far we'd be able to go, so made last-minute reservations. Came in with flight crews and felt like we were in the way at the desk. Felt that way at the hotel restaurant in the morning, too - and we were the only ones in there! September 11, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Shopping Expidition My friend and I stayed at this property for a Syracuse shopping expedition. We booked the hotel because I have stayed here before and like the location. Pros: It is located in a safe area for women traveling alone and it's proximity to the highway and other venues cannot be beat. The staff is friendly and helpful always. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Great shuttle for anywhere within a 3 mile radius. Cons: Restaurant breakfast is average at best. Pool is only open until 10PM; most nights we didn't get in until 9:30-10:00 - it would have been great to have an hour for a swim. Some of the facility needs upgrading (i.e. door knobs). Still-the Pros outweighed the Cons and we enjoyed our stay. Thanks!! September 1, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by average room, bathroom was exceptionally small.. Average hotel, clean, this was the first time i stayed in a Holiday inn where the breakfast was not included, there was a charge of 10.95 per person for breakfast . We went down the road to a Denny"s for 4.95$ per person and were satisfied. Also tea and coffee not available in the lobby. August 28, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Overall an average experience At 10 pm during fair week without a reservation we were glad to find a room. Room was good size, bathroom rather small. Bed comfortable and room clean. As I've found in several other Holiday Inns around the country the walls seem to be thin, not soundproof. August 28, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Unfortunate Stay I have never felt so uncomfortable and nervous at a Holiday Inn ever before. The first night I was there another guest walked into my room by using his room key at 11pm. Thankfully I was awake and watching television as I was startled and in shock as I guess he received the same room key at check-in. I couldn’t believe this happened as I typically keep my laptop and other belongings in my room. I reported this to the staff and they apologized and they informed me someone would give me a call but I never received one. As a frequent traveler, I have grown to enjoy staying at Holiday inn as well as other IHG hotel places. I hope this doesn’t become a trend or I will have to consider switching to other hotel brands. August 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Food Stayed 2 nights at Holiday Inn, we are pleased with overall service provided by the staffs, house-keeping and dinning staffs. except the foods at the restaurant. I had The Apple Walnut Chicken with grenadine sauce and vegetables to go along with were over-cooked and not freshed. The broccoli were Yellow and not sure how long it was kept in the freezer. We will definitely stay at Holiday Inn again but not to dine at the restaurant if given the option. August 12, 2013
