    Kudos to the General Manager!

    All hotels experience maintenance problems and employees who are having bad days, but the way in which management reacts to these issues sets them apart. The General Manager at Candlewood Suites Denver West Federal Center should be commended for her excellent customer service. The first morning of my stay I experienced a major problem. The toilet was totally non-functional...clogged up, with water up to the very top. Upon notifying the front desk of this, I was told I would just have to "Wait" until the housekeeper came in and could retrieve a plunger so I could fix the toilet. I called the front desk every 1/2 hour or so, and was told the same thing. After waiting nearly two hours, I had to demand that she do something! Possibly open another guest room so my daughter and I could use the bathroom. The front desk associate finally did that, but was extremely rude in the process. All over the hotel were posters saying if we could not give the hotel a "10" to contact the general manager personally. I decided to do that via e-mail. Within 30 minutes I received a response, apologizing for the poor customer service I had received and was credited one night's stay. Upon returning to my room later in the day, I found a hand written note again apologizing along with a small box of delicious chocolates. I was very pleased with the GM's professional response to this situation. The hotel itself was generally clean and well maintained (except for the toilet). It was nice to have a full kitchen in which to prepare meals, and the free coffee downstairs was appreciated. The bed was comfy, the sofa-bed not so. (But sofa-sleepers are usually uncomfortable so this was no surprise.) We borrowed a movie from the front desk to watch one night. The washer and dryer were free (very nice), however I did not use. I had read in other reviews that because the hotel had no pool or spa, they gave out passes to a local activity center with pool. However, this is apparently no longer the case. I was a bit disappointed, but it was not a deal breaker. The hotel was conveniently located. I would recommend this hotel due to the obvious care and consideration the GM gives to guests.

    Convenient stopover on our driving trip to Silverthorne, CO. Hotel staff very courteous. Hotel property, condition of room, etc was excellent.

    Excellent Hotel

    We were very pleased with this hotel. It provided all the amenities we needed including waste bags for walking our dogs and ample garbage receptacles. It was quiet even with multiple dogs staying at the hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and responsive to inquiries.
