The new decor and everything was great... maybe a bit too sterile for some in the heart of Savannah, but I liked it. Have I said how amazing the bed was yet? Because the bed was amazing. It wasn't[More]
one of the plush pillowtop beds, it was more like one of the individually wrapped coil types. It was perfectly supportive but not hard at all. The towels were also very soft. I think they use a scented fabric softener. It wasn't overpowering, but I could definitely tell it was there. The mini-fridge kept my drinks nice and chilled.
There were only two things that were not amazing about this room. One was being across from both the ice machine room and the maid's office with a door that probably has an inch gap between at the bottom. I took the extra blanket from the closet to help keep the air and noise out. A bit of weather stripping would remedy the issue. The other thing was the internet access. I had perfectly good signal, but the network access would only last for a minute or so before dropping out for 20-30 seconds and coming back. That was all night long.
One neutral observation-- for those of you carrying HDMI devices that plug into TVs so you can watch your own programming... these TVs are still using coax. There were no HDMI ports at all on my TV. There are plenty of channels to watch though.
There are people that complain about the street noise. I was on the side of the hotel facing the main road, and it wasn't that bad. I think the AC blowing covers up most of it anyway. All of the hotels on the main strip (across from the river) will be on at least one road, so if you need it quiet, call the hotel first to see if you can get a quieter room. [Less]
We really enjoyed our stay in Savannah. The hotel concierge, Charles was great as was Margaret at the front desk and Lavonne at the breakfast buffet. When we had questions, all three made us feel[More]
that we were top priority. If you have to stay in Savannah, it is a very nice place and all three of the staff mentioned above will be helpful!! [Less]
We chose this hotel because we needed a place both near Savannah and the neighboring counties. The location was suggested to us by people living near the hotel. The location was perfect for the[More]
traveling we needed to do.
When we first entered the room, the temperature was very cold. The temperature had been set at 68 and the room felt damp. There was a odor, not musty but one of an air freshener smell that wasn't so pleasing. Whenever we returned to the room, it had the same damp feeling but once we were in it and got the temp comfortable, it would go away.
The room was clean by hotel standards and I am very particular about that. Plenty of nice towels and pillows.
Internet service wasn't very good. We had issues with it in our room.
Breakfast was fine for what we wanted each morning. Well stocked. Vents and blinds were dusty, one of my pet peeves.
One negative that is not the hotel's issue is that there are not many good restaurants nearby. You have to go to Pooler, the next exit south to find a number of chain restaurants or into Savannah. If you are staying more than a day or two that becomes an issue. We didn't know about Pooler until the day before we left, but we didn't really ask anyone,so it was our fault.
Overall, the stay was okay for what we needed. People were friendly all around the area. [Less]
