I have over 1.200 IHG stays and know a good hotel from a bad one. This hotel is average.
Problems: (1) At check- in despite my strong objections a hold was placed on my credit card for the entire 37 day stay. That was well over $3,000. I've stayed at many Candlewoods and this is the only time I essentially had to pre-pay the entire amount upfront. I should have received a much better rate given I essentially had to pre-pay.
(2) I was not recognized as a Platinum member nor was I given the choice between a gift or points at check-in.
(3) Over my stay I experienced sleepless nights due to smokers in the room below us. That lasted off and on for a 2 week period. Then after the smoker finally left a bunch of people moved into the room above us. There were so many people in that room it sounded like they were dropping bowling balls on the floor/my ceiling all day and night. This lasted a week. When I complained one of them came down and pounded on my door like how dare I complain. Haha. They (room above me) would also stay up all night partying and making noise. To the hotels credit, I was eventually moved to another room where I didn't have any more issues for my remaining stay.
(4) I have yet to receive my reward points for my stay.
Liked: The location and the staff was friendly
I wouldn't stay here again only because of the hotel policy (entire stay hold being placed on my credit card). I don't fault the hotel for the guests.

The front office staff was Great! Katie, Princess, and David were so friendly, helpful, and made my lengthy stay a relaxing home-like experience. I will stay again in the future. Rooms were large and comfortable. The bed mattress was better than mine at home. The staff made the difference. Great price for great value.

Really liked the pillows and food kitchen variety to choose from and the loan a book access. Above all, the ability to park and fly at no additional charge while attending an out of state conference.

You'd be hard pressed to find a friendlier or more helpful front desk staff. I've stayed here before and they seem genuinely nice and friendly.
The property is your "typical" Candlewood. Comfortable, easy to stay in, very functional.
A little limited by what's nearby but by no means remote.

A clean, comfortable hotel in a very safe area near DC, with a friendly staff and a lot of free amenities like a laundromat, exercise room and business center with a pc and printer. There is also free parking, and the Vienna metro station is only a short drive away. Although it's next to the airport, it's very quiet. There are plenty of good places to eat nearby and some of them deliver to the hotel.
The room and bed were comfortable and I liked having a refrigerator with an ice maker. I didn't cook, but the kitchen had everything you would need to feed yourself if you were so inclined. I didn't use the coffee or coffee maker in the room because there was always fresh coffee available downstairs.
They will make up the room for you everyday if you request it, but since I don't have a maid who cleans up after me at home, I was okay with no daily housekeeping. There was a trash can at the end of the hall and fresh towels, linens and toilet paper available at the front desk.
