Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Airport Layover Very convenient being you are picked up and dropped off. Bus runs every 30 minutes and that wasn't a problem even at 4 am. We were had fish with us and a full size freezer made it nice for the layover. September 17, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Extended Stay My husband and I (and our dog) stayed here for 3 weeks while we were waiting to close on our house. It was pretty good for an extended stay hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They always greeted us when we came in and gave plenty of attention to our dog as well :) The walls in the rooms are pretty thin and we could hear our neighbors TV or people above us stomping around some nights but it wasn't too terrible. The bedding needs to be updated. The comforter wasn't comfortable and had burn marks on it. The area where the bed was is very small, with the bed being against one wall, which made it difficult for one of us to get in and out of bed. I moved the chair in the room one day to find a dirty sock (yuck) left there previously and some hershey kisses (which could have been bad if my dog found those first). Housekeeping needs to do a better job making sure everything is clean when guests check out of the room. The AC unit was pretty loud and the room was freezing while it was running but very hot when it wasn't on so it was hard to stay comfortable. I also work remotely so I was working from the hotel room everyday and the wireless internet was pretty slow and did not have a great connection some days. The pool area also does not have any lounge chairs to lay out. They definitely need to add this as it made us not be able to go to the pool as much as we would have liked during our stay. Overall it was a pretty good stay for the rate we paid. September 17, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by A scary, dirty place It took the shuttle drive an hour to get to the airport....he was not on property and could not be found. When we arrived there were several young men loitering outside of the front door and inside the lobby, they were not guests. They were loud and made us very uncomfortable. The carpets in the hallways and rooms were filthy and one of our party had to be moved because the room smelled so bad. The lady that checked us in was the one bright spot. She was very professional and did her best to find the shuttle driver. The shuttle driver could have cared less and did not apologize or offer and sense of urgency or concern for customer service. A bad experience and not my usual experience at Candlewood Suites. September 1, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Stay - Unfortunate Check-out Great place to stay. The exercise area could use some maintenance but I'd stay here again. The unfortunate part is that I asked the front desk to check-out the next morning instead of the day after and they ended up putting an additional day on instead of taking a day off. They corrected it back to my original but still not to what I actually asked for and stayed. I'm still waiting on a resolution. They are extremely nice and helpful when I call but I am still waiting. They made sure you were aware of the morning breakfast snack before you started your day. The suites are so nice and clean with comfortable beds and nice kitchenettes. There is no gross continental breakfasts here, you can go to their pantry in the lobby and purchase items to make your own style breakfast. I have stayed here twice, and the staff remembered me from my first stay nearly six months ago, that is crazy good service! Be careful in the parking lot after rain, there may be teeny tiny frogs! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Cancelled Reservations Hotel cancelled my reservation for some reason even after I called three times to confirm the reservation prior to driving 18 hours to get there. No room to accommodate us upon arrival yet they offered to walk us to another hotel down the street to accommodate us for the night for free. When I refused all they could offer (according to the manager) was a single room where the kids would have to sleep on the floor for the night. While passing the front desk less than one hour later I overheard another guest with the same issue and they were offered 2 rooms free of charge for the night! I was told absolutely NO rooms were available and was discounted $40 off the room for the night. When I told the manager I overheard this exchange with the other guests getting two rooms she offered to give me the room free for the night. July 30, 2014

Onsite pool was an added bonus though it could use new lounging seats. Of course there will be airplane noise as it is a hotel near the airport. Slept well and will be back again! July 30, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor service and inconvenient The staff wasn't very friendly at all. We got the wrong room and it was more about "who's fault it was" than actually solving the problem. No continental breakfast to speak of. Poor outlet location. Incredibly terrible wi-fi speed. I was in town to give speech on the effectiveness of great customer service and was able to use this example of "how not to do it." July 21, 2014

Inside this feels like a community of fellow business travelers. The location (neighborhood) is a little rough but the hotel itself feels safe and the parking lot seemed pretty secure. I would recommend this for anyone who is planning on staying for a long period of time. July 17, 2014

Loreanne (I believe i spelled it correct) was my check in person, she was WONDERFUL she went out of her way to make sure my special needs child was happy. She made sure my special request were correct and even made chit-chat with my son. Every time we are in Houston we stay at this Hotel even if it is out of our way. We just love it. Service is good, staff is friendly, and the amenities are good. I can't complain. Thanks a million, not many hotels will cater to our special requests but Candelwood Suites never seems to have a problem. Our room was very clean and we had plenty of towels and pool was fun, lots of kids for a Hot Weekend in Texas. THANKS. June 16, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent hotel, staff needs work Decent place for the price. Room was new looking. I could not understand the check in staff. Unintelligible native English speaker. Lamp between the beds didn't work. Other lamps had harsh CF bulbs. Called that in. Hotel did nothing. Asked if there was towel service at the pool. Desk staff didn't know what that was. The hot tub-new-circulated luke-warm water. Turned the timer switch, nothing. Called the desk, was told it takes 10 minutes for the hot tub to come on, after the timer is turned on. 30 minutes later, the jets came on and blew cold water for 5 minutes and shut off. Called the desk. They didn't care. It's a decent place. Clean enough. Good price, if you're going to just sleep. June 11, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Did Not Meet Needs This is the 3rd time that I have stayed in this area of the city at this hotel and they have not provided the room that was confirmed. It was the exact same excuse as the other times...someone did not check out when expected. So rather than inconvenience THAT person, they decided to DOWNGRADE me to a room of their choosing. And I was notified when I walked up to the desk by being told point blank, "the room you requested is not available so we put you in another room, I hope that is OK". Well it is not. What I find interesting is that the hotel has NO PROBLEM charging my credit card when I do not honor my obligation to show up on the day I say. But there is no reciprocal agreement when the hotel is unable to honor THEIR commitment. I am a Platinum Ambassador and this is the poor way they treat their elite members! Again, this is the 3rd time at this facility that it was done. Unfortunately, the choice of IHG hotels in this area of the city is pretty limited. It is a clean hotel and it's proximity to the airport make it convenience when you have early AM flights. It would be nice if they could run the facility professionally. June 2, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Pros and Cons Pros: Good Clean and Comfortable Room, with good air conditioning and heater system. Good bath/shower, fridge etc. Basically, the room is excellant. Has a jacuzzi and bbq pits (which i did not have a chance to try out). Some good and knowledgable staff (but not all). All staff are friendly and courteous. Their smiles make things right, I guess. Cons: Internet and wifi connection is very intermittent and flaky. Breakfast brown bag is far from being comparable to any reasonable hotel. Staff at reception is sometimes unknowledgeable and requested us to return for enquiries at another time (even for small requests such as a laundry bag). Encountered this (having to return at another time for my requests) 4 times in my 1 week stay. Messed up about direct billing, and charged to my credit card upon checkout. In summary, it's not too bad, but not too great.. So I would recommend other hotels to my colleagues when they travel there. The wifi connection is a big negative for many of us. May 21, 2014
