Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by The room did not meet my expectations. The leather chairs in the lobby had torn leather. The pillows in the room were less than presentable, un-inviting and too soft. the bedspread had a stain on it. The room smelled stuffy. Overall, the room appeared to have cooties. This in not a 4 star hotel. Having the owners picture on the wall in the office did not help matters. I immediately left after checking in. I was told by the attendant that the manager wanted to speak to me and that he would be at the hotel in about 5 to 10 minutes. I waited 10 minutes and he never showed up. I asked her to have him call me and I have not received a call to this day. I would not refer this hotel to anyone. It was more like a motel. May 10, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Candlewoods Suite, Westheimer Rd., Houston 77042 Stayed here for over 30 days for both bus. and personal matters. The hotel is very tricky to find as it's located behind a Sonics drive-in restaurant and you'll miss the entrance driveway since it's the same as the Sonics driveway entrance. There is a side driveway entrance on Hayes St. behind a Bank of America branch. Staff is very polite and helpful. Hotel is relatively small with 3 floors and had decent parking in front and in back. There's a small swimming pool and small sauna in the back of the hotel. You'll need a passcard to enter the hotel and for the bus. center and other rooms. Security appears to be decent using the passcard system and surveillance cameras surround the hotel. Lobby is very small with a few chairs, a table and a HD TV. Business center is a small cramped room with 2 PCs, though only 1 is connected to a printer, not both. Room was on the 3rd floor, initially with a Queen bed then switched to two double beds as I had relatives join towards the end of my stay. Room was musty and had to be deodorized with disinfectant spray several times. Housekeeping comes ONLY ONCE a week on Wednesdays so clean the rooms yourselves until then! The housekeeping do vacuum but the rugs NEEDS to be shampooed and deodorized! The mattresses need to be replaced as the middle of the mattresses don't provide much back support (Sealy mattresses as used as noted on a pamphlet in the rooms). You may have some restless nights of sleep due to the lack of support from those mattresses. Kitchenette is small but nice. Cooked a couple of times at night and it was convenient to also have a refrigerator and microwave along with utensils and plates. You'll have to buy your own sponges to clean, though. You can ask for towel replacements from the front desk staff. Either bring the old towels to them or dump them in the laundry area basket. The rooms are relatively quiet though sometimes you will hear noise from your neighbors if they're loud enough at night or in the mornings. Internet access is included with your stay though the speed is acceptable as it can be slow at times. You'll be given a username and password which is replaced every Friday so don't forget to get it. Their fitness center is very small with only an elliptical, a treadmill and a weight machine. It's connected to a small laundry room where the machines are free to use but you'll need to buy own laundry supplies. It's great to have a place to wash and have clean clothes on extended stays ;) The hotel is conveniently located on Westheimer Rd. which is one of Houston's main road going from the City of Houston on the east side to the west towards the suburbs. The hotel is located just outside of I-8 (aka Sam Houston Highway), the outer ring, as it's also known locally. The location is on a strip mall area surrounded by various stores and mostly chain restaurants and market stores. Note that outer Houston is not really a walking city... heck, Houston is not known to be a walking city unless you live downtown, but you can walk to various stores from the hotel but be careful since traffic is heavy and some street corners do not have the pedestrian walking signals! The hotel doesn't serve breakfast but holds a get-together meal every Wedn. night ~5:30p-7p where a basic meal is served along with drinks. Overall... The hotel is a good place to stay due to its location and friendly staff. It's relatively affordable and you don't pay sales tax if you stay More than 30 days, though prices could have been lower if you were staying that long. The hotel should deodorize each room and rugs often and replace their sagging mattresses frequently. May 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Suites are roomy yet cozy I recently stayed at a Candlewood Suites hotel in Houston, and would recommend this hotel to everyone. My suite, as well as the rest of the hotel, was spotlessly clean and seemed brand new. The large desk and comfortable swivel chair in my suite allowed me to work efficiently, and the kitchen allowed me to take a break and fix a snack. The staff was cheerful and friendly, the parking was convenient, and overall, I had a pleasant experience. April 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay Everything was excellent. From the front desk to the shuttle driver. They made this a great experience. Provided a dinner with drinks for social hour and I had no need for a rental car with the shuttle service that was available, (thanks Gary). Very friendly and helpful. This would be my first choice on my next visit to Houston. April 15, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean room and friendly staff. New in town, we needed a comfortable, but affordable inn close to work and conveniences. When we arrived, we were greeted with a free meal provided once a week. We immediately felt at home. The staff was ready to help with all our needs, including printing and faxing of documents. The combination eating area and desk area in the room was very handy. Overall, Candlewood provided a good environment until we settled into our new city. January 30, 2013
