I recently stayed at the Candlewood Suites Jersey City for 4 months and left highly satisfied from my stay. The hotel is conveniently located near PATH, close to shopping, and routes north, south, east, and west. The rooms are comfortable and well planned for extended stays. The kitchen area is ample and one can cook on the 2 burner counter stove and in the microwave oven. The bed is very comfortable, the bath very good, and laundry facilities are free and close by. Candlewood's staff is outstanding too and they work tirelessly to accommodate your needs. Since this is more of an extended stay facility rather than a short-term hotel, room service is limited, although many folks order out for food delivery. Unlike other nearby facilities, parking here is also quite adequate and never had any problem finding a convenient spot. My only concern here is the entry and exit gate and the poorly designed control arms. These need to be replaced and improved upon.
Finally, the rates charged were in line with other hotels in the area and better than the nearby competitors.
In summary, I was highly satisfied and recommend the Candlewood Suites for its location, service, price, and accommodations oriented to the long-term guest.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by KareninDE Great place to stay outside the city!
Great hotel near NYC for less than the cost of staying in town. Short walk to the PATH station. Nice alternative if you don't mind taking the subway or ferry back and forth. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Shopping is withing walking distance.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by cw42 Very nice accommodations near the city.
We spent 2 nights at the Candlewood. The desk staff were all very friendly and helpful. You do pay $10/night parking for short stays. There is mixed web site information, many saying it is free, but that is not true, so we were a bit disappointed. Parking is easy and convenient. The hotel is in a nice area and is very quiet. Not much activity here during the weekend. We were able to check in early and the room was spacious and clean. We had basic kitchen utensils and dishes and a 4cup coffee maker. Full size refrigerator had an automatic ice maker. We had a large desk with 3 chairs, a recliner and a fold-out sofa bed with a separate bedroom (suite). Nice flat screen TV. Large bathroom with full tub/shower. Housekeeping does not come daily, which was fine for us. We had plenty of towels to last 2 days. Very roomy accommodations for the NY/NJ area. No pool or restaurant on premises.

Everything was as advertised. Clean, updated room, helpful staff, secure parking (free now, but a $10 daily charge in the near future). An excellent location for being close to NYC without NYC prices. Waterfront, a good grocery store, Newport Mall, and PATH system (underground to NY) all within 10-15 minute walk. We made breakfast in the suite each morning (stayed for 3 days) and then walked to the PATH system (single fare of $2.25 will get you close to Times Square/Theatre district in 20 minutes or so from the time you purchase your ticket). Toured all day and then either picked up take out or stopped at the grocery store for supplies on our return to prepare our own evening meals (kitchen facilities great)... so expenses can be minimized if desired. We'd quite happily stay here again.

Had a chance to stay in New York for three days at the end of a business trip. When browsing for a convenient hotel I finally picked the Candlewood Suites as my home base this time. Location, room rate and the fact that Housekeeping only cleans the room once a week (if you stay less than seven days they don't come at all) were the main draws.
After I arrived at JFK it took me less than one hour to reach the hotel by public transportation. Got lucky with the room the friendly receptionist assigned me, which was on the seventh floor and had a good view over the Hudson River and Midtown Manhattan. I also received recognition for my PC status.
The room was clean, large and comfy and included a nice kitchen block, big fridge, desk, lazy boy chair and a queen size bed. The pillows were just a bit too soft, but it did not affect a good night's rest.
The hotel's location is right in the middle of two Path Train Stations, which either brings you to the WTC area or to Midtown in no time.
Overall a very enjoyable stay!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JMY0906 Comfortable room, very friendly staff, gated parking area
My husband and I chose this hotel because of the close proximity to NYC. We arrived at 11am and were even able to check in early because our room was available. It was great since we just drove 4 hours to get there. Once checked in, we received a phone call from Farcel at the front desk asking how our room was... I thought that was so nice!! The PATH station is within walking distance, being only a block away, so we were able to get right on the train to NYC. The room was very clean and up to date (although I couldn't find a hair dryer???), and our view of the city was beautiful. It was also nice to be in a gated parking lot, so we definitely felt safe. Just dont' forget to ask for a token to get OUT of the parking lot... when we checked out the front desk attendant forgot, so we had to turn around and go back in... Overall, we loved it, and would absolutely stay here again. :)
