Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Expectations and realitiy I was looking for a place for my frequent stays in Philly on a weekly basis. I was very encouraged by the reviews. The 1st room seem great. The staff seemed good. . But the toilet did not work. I saw a couple of reviews with similar issues and they said it was quickly fixed. But when I checked in it was after 11:00pm. The staff took me to a 2nd room only to be met with severe urine smells. So bad it was difficult to walk in. Then the 3rd room looked ok. The bed linens were clean but the room smelled of Bacon. Well guess what the bacon smell went away and I saw urine on the bathroom walls. I saw numerous urine spots on the carpet. And some sort of bodily fluid on the drapes. It was then extremely late after the last room changes. So I sleep on the clean bed with foul discussing smells. The managements answer was we could refund you the cost of the room when I expressed my discuss at 2-3 am. After an exhausting day the last thing I wanted to do was go look at that time for another motel.. Why don't you have at least a floor with cleaned rooms with no animals allowed. I am an long time pet owner but find this not acceptable. I was told the motel was empty that night and yet not a decent room was clean and to be had. Will be glad to upload pictures if need be. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel needs major improvements I stay at this hotel because this is the closest to my work and I need a kitchen and a weight machine in the gym which this hotel has. But the rooms need major work. I have been staying for more than a year and during this one year I have been assigned rooms with cockroaches, bed bugs, rooms without the exhaust working in the bathroom, rooms with too loud a/c and there is some issue or the other every week. Last week I was assigned room 310 and the exhaust in the bathroom was not working. When I told this to the front-desk clerk, he said the parts will come on Jan 1st. I asked him how the hotel expects the guest to live in the stinking smell if they use the toilet. I picked up the card for the general manager and told him I am going to speak with him and it was fixed the next day. This week I was assigned room 333 and the same issue. There was no exhaust in the bathroom. The bed was so squeeqy – I did not get a good night sleep. When I turned the water faucet in the bath tub towards left for warm water, the water was very cold, I was asked to turn it towards the “blue” to get the warm water which is opposite of what everybody is used to. I will keep writing the reviews on the rooms I get every week. BTW, I am a platinum member and I have stayed at different candlewood suites for business travel and this is the first location where I am finding so many issues with the rooms. December 23, 2014
