    Won't Ever Stay Here Again

    Furniture missing from room. Just a huge blank area with nowhere to put luggage and no luggage stand in closet. Dirty stained towels in bathroom. The bed wasn't made properly and it was evident that they had not been changed. Dirty drinking glass left in the bathroom. Crumbs and crud on the floor by the bed. Two of the four lights in the room had burned out bulbs. Clerk could not get more because they were locked up. Three tiny pillows on a king sized bed (I'll post pictures on tripadvisor). Two bars of soap in the bathroom but no shampoo. The toilet was stopped up. So....we went to the front desk and got new towels for the bathroom and sheets for the bed. Also borrowed a plunger because the toilet nearly overflowed when flushed. At midnight after driving for a long day it seemed we would have to fix and clean our own room. Moved one of the working light bulbs so that we at least had one working light bulb on each side of the room. You know what a really cheap bottom of the line Wal-Mart pillow looks like if you run it through the washer several times? And, what it smells like if you don't ever wash it? Well you get the best of both here. A very small, lumpy pillow with an odor. (Look for the picture on Tripadvisor...I'll post it shortly. The next morning we were glad we had some shampoo with us because they don't provide it here. The shower in the morning was in a tub that drains so slowly that it fills up when showering. It's obvious this hotel will cut any corner they can to save money. The front desk clerk was very sorry but new sheets, towels and a plunger was all she could do for us. There were no other rooms available to move us to. But she said she would give me a thousand points into my rewards account. That's equal to $7.50 for a platinum member! Wow. I think I'm pretty much done with the Candlewood Suites chain. I've been a Platinum member for 10 years and have rarely ever given a bad rating to an IHG property....and never this bad. But this was down right terrible.

    Felt safe at this location. The kitchen area was clean. The staff was very nice and helped me obtain extra towels and pillows during my stay.
