Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Reward Nights My stay was great and the Hotel Staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. I used Reward Pts for my 3 night stay and was treated better than I had been in hotels that I paid for rooms. My room was clean and larger than some of the reviews suggested. December 19, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic location with great service! I was very impressed with the Candlewood Suites located at 339 W. 39th Street New York City , New York. Location is fantastic. Very safe neighborhood, so close to restaurants, shops, entertainement and more. The staff is extremely friendly and eager to assist you and make you feel welcome. Rooms are very comfortable and have a complete kitchen with utensils. The free fast WiFi access is a plus. Property is very clean and definitely a great value for your money. I would stay here again and recommend this property to anyone. December 19, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very good experience Excellent experience, chose to take a wheelchair bound relative on a biz trip and stayed for first time at this hotel. Great location (nice Italian rest and Irish bar on same block) Staff was excellent, sent a request in advance and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate. Will definitely stay again. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location Enjoyed my stay a lot. Nice kitchen, nice location. December 16, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel in a good location The Candlewood Suites Times Square is a great place to stay in the heart of the city. Super close to Times Square and the subway, our room was comfortable and clean. The staff was courteous and attentive. The coffee and tea available 24 hours a day made for a warm welcome when coming in from some cold sight-seeing. A cookie in the evening was a nice treat. Of course, since it is an all suite hotel, the kitchenette was very useful. The refrigerator was very large and equipped with an icemaker. Microwave was great for some late night popcorn snacking. The coffee pot and stove allowed us to have a hot drink before bed without going to the lobby in our pajamas. Since there is no restauant in the hotel, we went to a tiny bakery two doors down on 39th St which served some delicious croissants, bagels and sweets. Great for breakfast or a treat with your evening coffee. I was disappointed that there were only 3 pillows on our queen-sized bed. After we checked out, we weren't planning to leave the city until late in the evening. So we took advantage of the hotel's luggage holding service and left our bags while we spent our last day in the city. Just before catching our train, we went back to the hotel to retrieve our bags. Very convenient. December 13, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Service Friendly Staff Great customer service, the Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. December 11, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and clean room Room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. Quiet too. Check-in was a little hectic as the hotel was sold out, but moved along after a 10-15 min. wait. Would have been nice to have some recognition as it was our honeymoon, but all else was excellent. Would definitely stay here again. December 11, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good location and comfortable stay i stayed there only for one night. It is close to the port authority bus station where i took the bus from philly and it was a few blocks to Time Square. in a city like nyc, it was a big room at that price. i had an early checkout, and the receptionist was very nice to offer me hot breakfast. it was very much appreciated December 11, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay Stayed for 3 nights . Great location, so near Penn Station and Port Authority Bus Station.Check in was very fast and staff friendly and polite. Room was very comfortable and clean. Have stayed in various IHG hotels in N.Y.C and this was one of the most enjoyable and comfortable stays. December 7, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good location for me I enjoyed the stay. Everything is good here.I paid full amount for the rooms. I do not understand why the stay did not qualify for Priority Club points. Maybe that has nothing to do with the hotel management. December 4, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fabulous service Fast check in and out. It was nice having the fridge and microwave. Although room was small (most are in NYC) it was very well planned out. Excellent if attending convention at Javis. Overall great place to stay December 3, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Always great!!!! The service was great as usual. Loved it. I always like to book in this hotel when I travel to NYC . Is in the middle or time square. December 2, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Extremely poor service and room As a Platnum member, I was very disappointed with my stay. The room had a very strong smell of paint, the TV did not work and the carpet was wet. When I discussed the problems with the front desk the following morning the staff did not seem to care though they did say they would send housekeeping. When I returned , there was no follow up by the staff though the TV did work. It seemed that instead of the usual treatment, service and attitude I have become accustomed to by staying at the Candlewood I was treated as if I was staying in a low budget motel. This hotel is clearly not up to the Candlewood standards. I can't help but think that because I used my reward points, that I was treated poorly, and given a substandard room. On top of everything else, I had left my car with the Candlewood valet staff when I arrived and when I had it delivered it was missing the left side mirror. I showed it to the delivery driver and immediately went to the front desk and reported it. The front desk clerk and later the manager contacted the valet / parking service. The on duty manager tried to distance the Candlewood from the problem and told me it was not a Candlewood problem and I would need to deal with the parking service. This was unbelievable and unacceptable. After waiting over an hour for the manager of the parking garage to arrive, a delivery driver showed up with a form for me to fill out. Once again, this is not the service I have become accustomed to from Candlewood. November 30, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Loved it so much we are returning this weekend Simply stated... What a little jewel. We were here in August with a guest from China and were so happy to have found this hotel. We are 5* Hotel snobs. That said, one cannot always stay at such a hotel every time especially when travelling with other friends/guests.We were off to a good start with the FRIENDLY & HELPFUL Hotel Front Desk staff. Our rooms were not ready but our bags were stored so that we could begin our adventure. Once we returned our bags were promptly brought to us and we checked in. Rooms are comfortable & clean. Amenities are more than acceptable and that recliner is a comfortable treat after a day of trekking around the city. Subway only a few minutes away. HINT: a liquor/wine store across the street, small grocery around the corner and then LOADS of restaurants on 8th & 9th will give you a better meal than what you will find on 7th or Broadway. Laundry? travel packets from home OR buy Purell 3-in-1 sheets. Great where liquid or weight is a factor. Are they small by Suite standards? Well, yes but this is NYC. I've stayed in much tighter quarters in the City. Even the grand hotel rooms are tighter than a hotel room in other cities. Accept this fact and do not hold it against the hotels you stay at in NYC. Look for cleanliness, helpfulness and anything else of value but not square feet. The Queen Studio suite is fine for 2 people!!! November 30, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well-located, well-appointed room The hotel is well-located near public transportation, good restaurants, and the theater district. The room makes staying an extended time easy and convenient. November 27, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by nice property but only one elevator worked Clean, nicely furnished and equipted units. Kitchen was well designed and very usefull for a NYC property. Bed was excellent. Plenty of seating and desk space for a room of this size in the city. Only complaint is that one of the two elevators did not work for the entire stay of 5 days. In a 32 story property, one elevator is inadequate and waits at times were 10 minutes. They should be able to get it fixed in a few days--even if they needed to get parts. November 26, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Regrettable Stay The hotel is shabby. We requested an early morning check-in and did not get a room until 2pm. The walls are thin and the hallways noisy. The ac unit would freeze and then shut off leaving the room sweltering hot. The shower had black gunk coming up through the drain. The front desk help was surly and unhelpful. When I responded to a Candlewood survey of our bad experience, I received a curt response saying that early check-in cannot be guaranteed. No comment on the rest of the horrible experience. I regret wasting Priority Points and will never book at a Candlewood Suites again and I recommend you don't either. November 25, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by location location location When we arrived we we're greeted in a friendly, and helpful manner with maps and recommendations of were to eat and drink. Candlewood suites is a self catering property just 2 blocks away from Time Square, not to mention all the other sights in Midtown Manhattan. Ask for a high floor (25th-32nd floor) and you'll get a view of the Hudson river to your right and the top of the Empire State Building to your left. So when the sun is setting you'll be able to see it. Enjoy NY. November 23, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Weekend! This hotel surprised us! We stayed for a 2-night weekend...front desk was very pleasant.....room was well-laid out and very quiet! The bed was one of the most comfortable we have EVER slept in! The location (39th between 8th and 9th) was surprisingly well-lit and since there were 3 other hotels on the same side of the block, there were always people and staff around...even late. We would stay again. November 19, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by overall review room a bit small, but it was OK. Air conditioner not so good, too noisy in a small room. Hotel room was clean. Service was OK. Price affordable. Score : 4 / 5 November 16, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hurricane Sandy Couldn't Stop This Crew I went to New York to do the marathon and as you all know by now it was cancelled. The crew at Candlewood Suites were wonderful in that they were always friendly, accommodating and came through with any questions or concerns. They were also VERY flexible as the city was in chaos and there were numerous individuals looking for rooms while others were canceling. My stay was wonderful and cozy. I ended up giving aide during my stay and it was nice to be able to return to my cozy room with all of the amenities that I needed. I had chosen this facility for it's location and kitchen as I am very careful about how I eat before a race but with the race not happening it was nice to be able to eat in after a long day of work. I'm hoping to get into the marathon next year and this will definitely be where I chose to stay. My only concern with recommending this facility is that I want to be able to get in when I come. As an aside, there were staff members who had been severely effected by the storm but you would not have known it. They were very professional. November 13, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Experience The bed was very comfortable. The staff (even those we just met in the elevator) seemed genuine, professional, and personable. We brought our five-year old who had to sleep on the floor or the recliner, so he didn't get great rest, but that was our fault for not planning well. The room was perfect size, loved the kitchen. The flooring and bathroom, furniture, etc all seemed new or refurbished, so that made the room feel great. The only minor issues....the closet door had structural problems and wouldn't close, and the bathtub drain plug wouldn't plug (to give our son a bath), but those were our only complaints. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value Stayed at property on 10-26-12 thru 10-28-12. Rooms are small but plenty big for two people. The shower was plenty big and had enough hot water for both of us to shower. We never had to wait more than 2 minutes for an elevator and we were on the 26th floor. The proximity to times square is excellent- only a 5 minute walk. The neighborhood all around the hotel is safe too. We loved the diner on 9th ave between 42nd and 43rd st. for breakfast as it was good food and very reasonable. I believe it was called West Side Diner but not sure. The room was clean, organized and the staff was excellent! Great Value. November 2, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great facility and excellent service Outstanding, friendly service and a great facility make this the place to stay. I will definitely be back and recommend it to my associates and friends. November 2, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great!!! Great Value, clean, convenient, everyone was so nice. Walking distance to Javitz Convention Center, Times Square and theater district. Can't wait to go back. November 1, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location, good value for NYC I was very pleased with the room amenities and my granddaughter and I were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. I would definitely stay here again! November 1, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Good Experience We enjoyed it greatly. Good location, quiet, Comfortable bed, clean and very helpful staff. November 1, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location, comfortable rooms and wonderful staff. The hotel's location was perfect for us. Easy walking to Times Square, subways and restaurants. Half block walk to 9th Avenue which provided a ton of small restaurants offering good food at decent prices. We were on the 28th floor which gave us a nice view. The room was a decent size with a comfortable bed and was very quiet. The staff was top notch. When we first checked in they provided us with info and maps. Every time we returned to the hotel we received a warm greeting from the front desk personnel. They provided us with directions, recommended restaurants and helped me when I couldn't get on the internet with my iPad. We would readily recommend the hotel to others. October 31, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Best I was really surprised at this hotel.I come to New York for business with my boss and he likes to stay in high priced hotels which is OK on his tab.But for pleasure Candlewood was fantastic.I'll lay this out for you and they are all pro's,great location easy to get a cab or find a subway entrance,a wonderful staff, you were always greeted with a smile(Monica at the desk is the best),a very clean and large room.great resturants all around and a little more of a neighborhood feel around 8th and 9th avenue area, layed back. Most of all a value, you get more then your money's worth. There is know doubt in my mind I will use this hotel again.Try it you will be pleased,I promise. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Candlewood Suites Times Square My NYC Favorite This is a great hotel, great location, friendly staff and quiet rooms. I have stayed here many times over the past 7 years or so. Excellent value, clean and comfortable rooms with kitchens. The location is convenient to Penn Station and Port Authority busses. Subway hubs are very short walk. The restaurants/bars on 9TH Avenue are varried and many choice neighborhood places. Easy access to Central Park ( I usually walk ) Lincoln Center and heading south Chelsea, The Highline Park and the heart of the Grenwich Village are a pleasant walk or short subway ride. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. I'll be back. D2 October 31, 2012
