Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location Hotel is located a few blocks from 42nd and 8th ave. Rooms were very clean and bedding and towels were above average in quality. This is a relatively small hotel with only six rooms per floor. There was never a wait for elevators and there were very few if any floor stops once you got on. This is an extended stay hotel so you have to pay $15 extra if you want your room cleaned. February 5, 2014

From Allison to the other staff they are all welcoming and make you feel at home. They exude a "can-do" attitude The housekeeping is first rate. The rooms are always extremely clean and in top shape. The Candlewood Suites are my only choice when I go to NYC. Great Job!!!!!! January 30, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay in NYC This hotel is situated in the perfect location, and costs probably half what others in the area cost. The staff is friendly and responsive, and do their best to make you comfortable. I did have some problems with the hot water in the shower, but they sent someone up (twice) to try to fix it. Might have been more because of the frigid weather we were experiencing. Still a great value, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. January 30, 2014

The staff was so friendly and I felt they really cared, The room was so clean and the small touches were appreciated. The bed was so comfortable and there were more than enough towels in the bathroom. My request for a quiet room was fulfilled. I had stayed last year at this location and returned because I had been pleased with that visit. Also close to the train so I could go everywhere. January 29, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great welcome, location, resort facilities and staff! great location (1 block off Port Authority), welcoming and professional staff, very good hotel facilities (free laundry, gym, free coffee, little convenience shelf) made ours a comfortable and pleasant stay. our room was fully equipped with quality appliances, powerful wi-fi, desk and a functional kitchenette. my wife and I are thankful to the staff for a great help to solve a discomfort after a jungle rough experience !! definitively a place to suggest ! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A gem right near Times Square A great location, huge room (by Manhattan standards). Just over one block (down 9th Ave) from the southwest entrance of the Port Authority. Once inside you can walk underground to the Times Square subway station and access many subway lines, no matter the weather. The kitchen was nice to have, and included high quality cookware and dishes. Bathroom seemed recently remodeled/updated. The overall building is narrow - only 6 rooms per floor, so it is really quiet. The cable channel choices were basic, but the rooms have a DVD player and there is a lending library at the front desk in case there was nothing you wanted to watch on TV. Front desk has a holding room for luggage after check out or if you arrive early. January 11, 2014

The rooms were very comfortable and clean, The staff was always courteous and promptly dealt with requests. Its proximity to the theatre district the subway and the rest of midtown Manhattan made for a great experience. I will be back there on subsequent business or pleasure trips to NY January 11, 2014

We called the front desk and the maintenance man came right away and fixed it. The maintenance man was very nice. (I didn't get his name.) We were in room 210. The rug was a bit worn and needs repair. Overall the room was clean, but I did find hair on the bathroom floor when we initially arrived. I was not happy with the white male manager on duty Saturday January 04, 2014. I visited the front desk and asked him if I could make arrangements to have my vehicle brought to the front at 8AM the next morning for check-out. He asked me if I had called the telephone number on my ticket. I went upstairs to my room and looked at my ticket and there was no telephone number on it to call. I became very upset and took the ticket downstairs to show him. He changed his story and stated that "I" miss understood him. He then told me that all I had to do was call downstairs to the front desk 30 minutes before I wanted to check out to have my vehicle brought around in a timely manner. My husband and I notice that the staff counted large sums of money at the front desk during the evenings. Not only did they count this money, but they waited on customers at the same time?! We thought this was crazy! They were advertising that they had this money. I felt that they were making themselves easy targets for robbery. January 10, 2014

Candlewood Suites has shown me that sometimes you CAN find a great deal at a great price. The room was in an incredibly quite location for Midtown and within a stone's throw of Times Square. I would recommend this hotel for any seasoned traveler who is interest more in price and comfort than status and frills. January 9, 2014

Used to stay in Sacacus Candlewood all the time but figured I would give Times Square a try and I can sincerely say that I will never be returning to Sacacus. (Even though the stay there was great,nothing compared to this one!) The rooms were more than expected, I felt as though we were at home. There was great service from the front desk to the house keeping. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. There was not one thing to complain about- not even the price! I have already and will continue to recommend this hotel to friends and family for the future. Best hotel experience of my life and this is coming from an individual that has traveled all over the country staying in rooms everywhere for all sorts of reasons. The hotel contributed to a GREAT end to 2013 and has given me a positive outlook on for 2014. Thank you thank you thank you! January 7, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by not worth it When we checked in to our room they asked for a credit card for incidentals only. I asked them if the room rate would be charged to this card they said no I would pay the room on check out. Two hours later my card gets declined at macys. I call the bank who tell me the hotel has charged $2500 to my card sending me over my limit. The hotel refused to call the bank and let them know it was a mistake on their part. After using the toilet once it our room it got clogged. We called someone to fix it and they did. This happened for the next 4 days. When we finally insisted they move us in to a new room they told us the reason for the clogged toilet was a soap bar which WE must have dropped down there. The second day we were in our new room our keys stopped working. We got them reset at reception and the staff rudely told us to keep our keys away from electronics. The keys still didnt work. It took them over an hour to get us back in to our room and we almost missed our broadway show because if it. The next day we got locked out of our room again because the person who set the keys set it for one day only. The staff had a lot of attitude and didnt rush to help us fix our problems and blamed us for most of them. The only good thing about this hotel was the location. January 5, 2014

The staff was amazing, and a very special shout out to "Ashley!" She is certainly special and I'd like the owners and management to know how lucky you are to have this one working for you! Short walk to the subway, 2 parking garages nearby, near the pedestrian walkway along the Hudson River, great free coffee, Laundry and exercise room. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fabulous NYC location for Christmas 2013 What a gem of a hotel! Great location, quiet, close to Subway, Penn Station and Times Square. The room was larger than we expected. Having a queen bed instead of king helped that. The "kitchen" area was as we entered the room, helping to give a more expansive feel. The linens and sheets were top shelf. The room was very clean when we started. Must say after three days, our garbage was full as we ate dinner in a couple of nights. They would have changed it out if we had called. The only downside was the wall unit heat/AC. Either hot or cold and very loud. Still, after walking all day, and taking an ambien (me) or removing hearing aids(him), we were good to go. The elevators were close and they were fast which seems to be an anomaly after reading about other properties. All in all a great value and we would stay here again. December 29, 2013
