Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Better Service than the Ritz After a 12 hour road trip with 1 year old twins who did not sleep in the car and a hail storm, we arrived at the hotel at 1am only to find out I had booked the room for the following weekend. Shan at the front desk jumped into action. She went floor by floor and searched every maid closet until she found us two cribs. She got us extra pillows and sheets and personally showed us the room and made sure we were settled in. In the meantime, my husband had called other local hotels who turned us down because they don't provide cribs in the middle of the night. The room is great - we have a suite which has a door that closes off the master bedroom which makes a big difference when you are traveling with kids. The rooms are spacious with a refrigerator and very clean. The staff here is overly accommodating and so pleasant. We tried to tip Shan and she refused it graciously saying that she was just doing her job. I will stay here on all of my trips to Cary and also book holiday inns for the rest of our trip. The signs in the parking lot informing you the hotel is not responsible for car break in made me feel I could be in a bad neighborhood. I was told Cary was a very nice area so I'm not sure why you would feel the need to post such negative signage. I also found it strange that the front desk clerk did not ask for ID. June 23, 2014

Excellent friendly staff from the check in experience through a very tasty dinner. The waitress was excellent and the chef even checked with us to make sure everything was great. Waffle maker in the cafe would be wonderful and having my room trashcans emptied, beds made and towels added as needed would be great . A shuttle would also be nice. The Staff all the way from the Maintenance staff, Housekeeping, Restaurant staff (Especially TONY!!), Front DESK every one is very professional and they all speak to you may it be in the morning afternoon, or evening does not matter when. The Breakfast Buffet Excellent!, i visit Cary often and I will always stay at this location., Please pass my comments on the Management and Staff at this HIE. May 4, 2014

Received a newspaper, but no other "perks" for being a priority club member. Wanted a snack for breakfast the last morning, not a $10/ person breakfast. April 22, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by I will never come back ! When I arrived the toilet was running, which the staff had to have heard. I had to shake the handle to get it to stop. The faucet in the tub dripped and there were toe nail cuttings in between the two beds on the carpet. I left a note on the picture over the desk that there was MOLD inside the picture and it looks like it had been there a long time. And to top it off I WASTED points for this stay! Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by What has happened??? I've stayed at this property multiple times but this time was markedly different. I'm usually a late check-in, have had very few problems with any stay at this property but did not recognize the counter staff upon arrival. I got to my room (#413) and the A/C was a little loud but something else just didn't feel right. I locked the door and retired for the evening but never really felt "at ease" and didn't sleep very well. I got up the next morning expecting to see an express checkout envelope in the floor but not one there ... oh well, not a big deal. Packed up and went to the restaurant to see a familiar face or two but I still didn't see a lot of staff faces I recognized. Breakfast was good and when restaurant staff tried to add the breakfast bill to my overall bill as usual, he said #413 was "unoccupied". Went to check-out and sure enough, they didn't show me to have been put in room #413. After they searched by my name, I was found to have supposedly occupied a 6th floor room (? #612) for the evening. WHOA!! CAN YOU SAY HUGE SECURITY ISSUE? I'm fortunate to have been a late check in since I would have hated for someone to have tried to enter my room.during the night. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE GUYS! When I asked if there had been a management change, I was told there was a management change in February. As wonderful as previous stays have been, I feel like my safety is is more important than it's convenient location. THANKS for the memories folks but I'll not be back to this location. March 17, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Loud Noises 1.Very loud pulsating noise from the heat/AC closet in the room. Even when the heat was turned off it continued to run all night. 2. Spa has been out of service for weeks. 3. Pool might has well of been an outside pool......very cold 4. Breakfast food was average at best. 5. I have stayed here 4 different times and each time I book ahead with my Platnum elite status. The same person checks me in each of my previous stays and she thanks me for my Gold membership.....trivial, however as a Platnum elite I do expect the perks associated with it. I will never sty at this facility again. It keeps getting worse every time I return. March 12, 2014

I have been to 6 different Holiday Inn's in the past month and have had great experiences with the staff at all of them. This group at this one should take some training in customer service. However, I was disappointed that the location and external appearance did not reflect the subpar facilities. There was no in-room mini-fridge that is commonplace in similar hotels. The room furnishings and bedding were worn. The room was noisy from hallway noise and the elevator. All in all it is not on par with similar holiday inn or competitor properties of the same level. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Cary Check-in and check-out is not quick, there's a lot of clicking on the computer by the staff kind of like the clicking I'm doing completing this survey. A discount room rate is anything but discount. At a discounted rate, it's priced along the lines of a higher end hotel. If you decide to eat in the hotel, better take out a loan, it's pricy too and there's several menu items I was told "we're out of that". Don't expect a beverage "happy hour" here, the bill might make you cry instead? Overall the hotel is furnished with newer furniture. The majority of the hotel is clean. The climate control in the room was acceptable, hallway noise was minimal except for door slams. The water pressure was good, plenty of hot water, towels and wash cloths were fairly new and not worn out but there was large amounts of hair in the bath tub and stuck to the bath tub wall. No refrigerator, no microwave, There was a newspaper left under the door and a personal coffee maker with the sealed packet of coffee, sweetener, swizzle stick and such. The pillows were comfortable but the mattress was slightly sagged out. March 2, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not coming back... We have stayed at this hotel many times in the past while attending swim meets at the Triangle Aquatic Center. In the past, while the rooms and hotel were a bit dated, they were always clean, and the staff were eager to make customers feel at home. This is apparently no longer the case. We had three rooms booked (two for us and one for our coach) and the entire experience was much less than expected. Several other families from our swim team also expressed similar experiences to me during this stay. At check in (4:30 pm), not all rooms were ready even after being assured the night before that everything would be set by 4:00 pm, and possibly earlier. The front desk seemed to be unaware of my reservations asking if I wanted double beds in all rooms (even after explaining I had reservations for two king rooms and one double room). I had called the night before to ask that the rooms be close to each other, and away from the elevators which are very noisy. I also told the front desk I would like rooms away from the elevators. After about 20 minutes of "checking in", I went to the rooms. I was given one room directly across the hall from the elevator, and the other two rooms were directly beside the elevator. Went downstairs to complain and they did give me different rooms, however, housekeeping had left one of the room's door propped open and it looked as if someone had slept on the bed, and the carpets were visibly dirty as if they had not been vacuumed. Once again downstairs to change rooms. Almost an hour to get checked in! Floors were dirty in all rooms. One of the king rooms air conditioner had to be set to 58 degrees in order for the room to cool. Bedside lamps had switches that were not properly attached to the lamp (loose and one was actually recessed completely into the lamp). After the first morning swim meet session, we returned to the rooms after lunch and housekeeping had not even been on our floor. Had to sit in the lobby for almost an hour waiting for our room. Housekeeping did not replenish the shampoo or coffee, and again, the floors were visibly dirty. After our morning session on Sunday, we returned to the room to pack and check out (11:00 am) but none of the keys worked. The hotel had already locked out all the rooms before checkout time. Breakfast (which used to be free) is now $10 for scrambled eggs and bacon. No yogurt, pancakes, waffles, etc. Not once was I recognized as an IHG member. Front desk was usually understaffed, but there were always 2-3 employees outside the side door smoking with the door propped open with smoke entering the hallway. Dirty housekeeping carts were usually left in the hallways for hours, or even overnight. The dryer in the laundry would only display 12 minutes available for $1:00, and the dryer was VERY hot. After speaking with the Swim Meet Director, I have found that this hotel is no longer a recommended hotel for their swim meets, and that they have several hotels nearby that will give swim meet visitors a free 4:00 pm checkout. To the hotel's credit, they did give me one night free on one of the three rooms for the check in difficulties. We (or other families from our swim team) will not be returning to this property. Sad, because this used to be a great hotel with great service. But after two bad experiences in one month, we will be taking our business elsewhere. February 26, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by New Management Policy Changes We have stayed at this hotel many times when our boys participate in swim meets at the nearby Triangle Aquatic Center. While the hotel is a bit dated, lacking thermostat controls, microwave and/or refrigerator in rooms, we have always enjoyed staying there as the rooms have always been clean and comfortable. Also having the free breakfast and more importantly, the ability to have a "half-day" on the last day of the meet was a big plus in selecting a hotel. It is important for our boys to have a power-nap after the morning preliminaries to rest up for the big final session at the swim meet in the evening. Recently, the hotel discontinued the free breakfast, and now with new management they have also discontinued the policy of allowing half-days at the end of your reservation for half the fee of a full day. I was not even allowed a late checkout, resulting in needing to book an entire day, but only used the room for several hours. This was very disappointing as we have now found out that other swim families from (not IHG members) were offered late checkout without having to ask for it. We have several rooms booked for another upcoming swim meet at this site, but are considering other local hotels that DO offer late checkout and/or half day rates. February 11, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nicely located, front desk is slow and hardly attended Nicely located next to the mall. The rooms are average and somewhat outdated. Front desk staff is most of the time not there and slow. Food is exceptional for the hotel category and bartender very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast is good (so you will have to pour your own coffee, from the fountain. Good price. February 1, 2014
