Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Great room and personnel From the moment my husband and I walked into the lobby of the Candlewood Suites for our family reunion I could just feel the warmth of the hotel. The staff was amazing from check in all the way to check out. The hotel itself was beautiful, very clean, and you could see that the staff loved "their hotel". Each time I entered or if we were leaving someone was doing something. Each staff member we encountered was very friendly, professional, and their customer service skill definitely surpassed our expectations. The room itself was very nice. I love the kitchen area, full frig; all the amenities of home. The bed was very comfortable and relaxing. The bathroom was nice and clean. The only thing I would recommend for the bathroom are the grab rails in the shower as the tub can get slippery when wet. Otherwise, this is one of my favorites hotels! My husband and I travel a lot visiting family, etc. We will definitely utilize your hotel chain. We really enjoyed ourselves! August 14, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed This property is great if you are a construction crew and need a place to stay. For other purposes, not so much. The room was average, a lot of the cooking equipment was missing. The recliner is extremely uncomfortable. The floor was dirty when we checked in, and when reported the next morning to the front desk, the response was "that's impossible". There were sticky spots on the kitchen floor and toenail clippings on the rug. Yuck. The construction crews take control of the gazebo and the rear parking lot every evening. Lots of drinking and cursing, so if you don't want to have to walk through that every night, try and park out front if you can find a space. Definitely not a family environment. The staff are either extremely friendly and helpful, or completely indifferent and rude. There doesn't seem to be any in-between. The housekeeping and maintenance staff are very friendly and helpful. It's difficult to rate this property, because the people there are either wonderful or completely not. The bed was comfortable, but the recliner was horrible. The atmosphere is kind of frat-house with the truck driving school people and the construction crews, coupled with some people who stop for an overnight on their trip...not family-friendly. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and Friendly! We really enjoyed our stay in the king suite at the Richmond, VA Candlewood Suites. We had a room just for us and the kids had a spot in the living room. The rooms were very clean and updated, the staff was very friendly, the pantry in the lobby was well stocked. Although we did not use them, gas grills were conveniently located outside the back door of hotel. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to others. July 30, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Hotel I've never reviewed a hotel online before, but my experience at this hotel warrants a comment. I was immediately impressed with the cleanliness of the lobby (The front desk worker said she had some extra time and decided to clean. It showed!). My room was spacious, perfectly clean, included a large flat-screen TV, and also had a stove top, microwave and refrigerator. But what really happened to make this hotel "fantastic" and not merely "great" was that I needed a ride to the airport at 4 am for a 6 am flight. Unfortunately, the national reservation line had told me that this hotel offers 24-hour airport shuttle service. I learned, at 4 am, that this was not accurate. The hotel has shuttle service on every day except Sunday. The usual Sunday procedure for the hotel, I was told, was to have called a taxi service on Saturday night upon my check-in. This had not been done -- so there I was, stranded oh-so-close-but-still-so-far from the airport at 4 am. Knowing that I had no other way to get to the airport, the night auditor (initials M. McG.) went well above and beyond what is typically expected of a hotel worker and drove me there herself. Before you think I'm crazy to get in a car with a stranger, let me tell you that she was the epitome of kindness and professionalism. She saved me from missing my flight and, in doing so, provided excellent customer service. Thank you! If you need a hotel in this area of Richmond, I highly recommend staying here. July 30, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Up all night Stayed at this facility near the end of our vacation primarily because of its proximity to the Richmond airport since we had an early morning departure. No qualms at all with the hotel -- comfortable, clean, and well-appointed room, near many good restaurants, easy to find, accommodating staff, etc. However, our stay was made totally unpleasant by a loud, raucous party going on on the back porch/deck of the hotel. The party was already underway when we checked in at around 4:00 p.m., was in full swing throughout the night, and was still going on when we checked out at 4:00 a.m. to travel to the airport. Consequently, neither my wife nor I got any sleep to speak of. I did not complain to management about this because, since the party was occurring not 25 feet from the front desk, I shouldn't have to. Hotel management should be concerned enough about the comfort of all their guests to prevent a few revelers from disturbing them all during the night. We were extremely disappointed. I might be willing to recommend this hotel based solely on the facility, but with the apparent non-caring attitude of the management for the peace and quiet of their guests, I cannot do so. I received the same great service here that I have received at the other location. The staff was just as friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the ice cold sweet tea they had at the front desk for the guest. I was over 90 degrees and a cold drink was truly appreciated, nice touch. I would not hesitate to stay there again. We stayed here for 2 days and visited Kings Dominion amusement park which was about 20 minutes away. The only "negative' was that there was not daily housekeeping service---only weekly so we ran out of amenities but the front desk was quite accomodating when we asked for more. June 23, 2014

The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, the exercise room is functional. It's a snap to get to the airport, to a convenience store or back on the interstate. Once you stay here, you'll agree with me. I am a full-time consultant and stay over 200 nights per year in hotels. I only recommend the best. June 16, 2014

The Internet is horrible -- nothing short of pre-dialup speeds, if that can be imagined. Forget normal things like web-browsing, email checking or streaming -- the pages don't even load up. Also, the TV menus are extremely wonky, making it very hard to change inputs. The Candlewood Cupboard has items marked up up to 5x over normal pricing -- I mean, a little markup is acceptable, but gouging just isn't cool. Nice place to stay with dogs, too -- actually, great. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by parking need more parking. i arrived late after my meeting and when i got there i had to park in the back because there was nothing at the front and even the spaces in the back were very limited. i know in a way that is a good thing because it shows the motel is popular but as an older female adult parking in the back in an obscure place was a little disconserting. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Too many truck drivers We stayed here for over six weeks but finally got tired of the foul language and excessive drinking that happened every night. Many people that go to a truck driving school stay here. Young and crude and want to party into the night. Several fights during this time too. Just didn't seem safe anymore so we moved to the Candlewood at Shortpump. Much better here. I feel that the staff should have done more to control the night time crowd of heavy drinkers. May 26, 2014

Shannon was always so pleasant, upbeat and assisted me in resolving a number of issues to my complete satisfaction. Likewise, Melissa always pleasant and seemingly excited to meet you everyday. Melissa also went the extra mile for the guests by personally purchasing coffee cups when coffee cups were not delivered for 2 weeks and "management" failed to take any action.
