Conveniently located off Highway 101, we found the property and our suite to be clean, safe and impressively spacious. The staff was both friendly, helpful and kind. We were even offered a complimentary DVD movie which just added to the pleasure of our stay . . . It's those little unexpected items that really turn our head. And the price of our suite was very reasonable and affordable. Thank you! We had a marvelous time. Our stay was more than a night in a room . . . it was a pleasure and a gem of a find in Santa Maria. We would truly recommend Candlewood Suites for leisure or business. August 1, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Home Away From Home I travel to the area often for work and Candlewood is my home away from home. The staff is great, professional, friendly and accommodating. The rooms are always clean and comfortable, the laundry facility is a great bonus and the cupboard has all the amenities needed without having to leave the property. This hotel is convenient to the interstate but not too much road noise. It is a great value and my first choice when in the area. July 27, 2014

There's a bit of community feel due to recurring business stays. Nice supply of dishes, tools, pans, storage containers. Saw a guest get wine glasses from the desk to enjoy in the lobby with another guest. Very comfortable for a solo traveler. July 7, 2014

Seth the manager was very welcoming, accommodating, and helpful. He was able to adjust to our requests. If this hotel had a complementary breakfast and a pool, it would receive the highest rating. One thing I would like to add is finding the entrance to the hotel is tricky, we made a turn just before the hotel expecting to have an entrance across from where Holiday Inn is, but we figured our way around. Some signage for the Candlewood entrance would help. June 4, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by The loudest hotel I have stayed at I called ahead to make sure that I could get a top floor room away from the street side and I was told it would be possible. When I checked in the only room that was left on the top floor was on the Romer street side. I could hear and feel the cars going by even with the fan on high, ear plugs and the bathroom fan on. I asked to be moved. The manager tried to find me another room but one was on the second floor right next to two rooms that had multiple people with their doors open and having a party and the other room was literally facing the noisy street intersection which would have been even worse for street noise. When I returned to the hotel around 9pm I could see that many of the top floor rooms on the parking lot side were not occupied nor was the parking lot full. Did they not give me one of those rooms because it would have been an upgrade (I would have paid for a quieter room). I ended up staying in the same room that I was originally assigned and got about 4 hours sleep from 12am-4am and then the noise started again. I have two job interviews today so the lack of sleep is not going over too well. I will not stay here again and will ask for my money back. May 29, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Most accomodating... My husband and I (and recently our new dog) have been staying at Candlewood Suites twice a month on business for 3 years. I must say they have very thoughtful, friendly and accommodating staff, and the hotel itself is perfect for long-term or short stays. There is free laundry and exercise facilities, a business office if you don't travel with a laptop, and a little store in-house where you can easily pick up snacks, supplies and cold drinks. Oh and did I mention the free DVDs to view? If I need something faxed or copied the front desk staff are always helpful. The prices are very reasonable and they welcome pets...a wonderful home away from home! January 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Met My Needs I stayed here while in town for Thanksgiving day. The room was very clean and comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised by the kitchenette. Great for extended stays. If you are a light sleeper you may want to request a room not facing Broadway, as the traffic is heavy and can be heard. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. This may not be the nicest part of town, but the hotel was clean and offered great rates. I would choose to stay here again. December 9, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Room smelled of urine & vomit on our door/entryway I rented 2 rooms during our stay in Santa Maria, CA, my hometown. The room my son & his family stayed in, room 208, reeked of urine. After we checked in to our rooms we left to visit family. Upon return there was vomit all over the door, door jam and down the hall. We couldn't even enter the room. I had the whole family stay in my room while I reported the mess to the desk clerk. No one else was available so she had to leave the desk to clean it up. Once it was cleaned up we opened the door to vomit on the threshold and a foul odor of urine, which we still could not enter the room. The hotel was booked and was told one guest still had not checked in and it might be possible to move to that room, which is on the 4th floor. After my son & his family settled in they received a call and was offered the room on the 4th floor. They declined. It was late and the 2 small children were asleep. They slept with the bedroom door closed & window opened all night. In the morning the cleaning staff cleaned the carpet. By the afternoon the source of the odor was discovered by my son & daughter-in-law. The hotel allows animals in the rooms and there were stains under the large chair and sofa bed. We reported the source but it was not looked into. The morning we checked out I asked the desk clerk if he was told about the odor stains and he said he had not so I explained to him about the stains under the furniture. No one seemed too concerned. Another issue I had with Candlewood was the fact that they do not offer housekeeping on a daily basis. Housekeeping is offered once a week. If you need new towels or linen you have to collect the dirty towels & linen and exchange for clean at the counter. No one empties the garbage either! We will NOT use Candlewood Suites in the future! The not so good points are 1) There is no lid on the toilets, so when the toilet is flushed, tiny particles spray up in the air as happens on all toilets. That means tiny particles of feces up to to 36 inches in the air. Very unsanitary and unhealthy condition. 2) Pull out bed had springs that were felt through the bed pad that management provided. Definitely not confortable. The good points are: 1) Room(on the parking lot side) was quiet 2) Comfortable setup for breakfast counter/work area. 3) Kitchen setup was convenient and adequate with plates/glasses etc. 4) Bedroom was comfortable. However, when I checked in I was given a room on the 3rd floor. I was told by the receptionist that nothing was avaialble on the tope fl. I was just curious - how do you determine who gets a room on the top floor when you have two identical requests? October 2, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Smokey, Non smoking room ! I have stayed at several Candlewood Suites Hotels, Turlock, Tempe, Fort Lauderdale and also Santa Maria. This past Saturday night I had reserved a room at The Santa Maria Camdlewood Suites and was very disapointed. The room smelled so bad of smoke I had to ask the front desk to send some one up to spray the room while I headed out to buy some Glade at the local Wal-Mart. When I woke up Sunday morning I felt like I had smoked a whole pack in my sleep. After 3 days I have finally gotten to the point I don't smell like an old ash try myself. The smell was in me, on and all around me. I will stay at Candlewood again but not this Hotel. I have been very satisfied with them up until this last stay. They are suppose to be a smoke free Hotel but if you by chance go there, take a can of air freshner with you, you will need it! October 2, 2013
