Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Smokey, Non smoking room ! I have stayed at several Candlewood Suites Hotels, Turlock, Tempe, Fort Lauderdale and also Santa Maria. This past Saturday night I had reserved a room at The Santa Maria Camdlewood Suites and was very disapointed. The room smelled so bad of smoke I had to ask the front desk to send some one up to spray the room while I headed out to buy some Glade at the local Wal-Mart. When I woke up Sunday morning I felt like I had smoked a whole pack in my sleep. After 3 days I have finally gotten to the point I don't smell like an old ash try myself. The smell was in me, on and all around me. I will stay at Candlewood again but not this Hotel. I have been very satisfied with them up until this last stay. They are suppose to be a smoke free Hotel but if you by chance go there, take a can of air freshner with you, you will need it! October 2, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by attractive and comfortable we were only staying one night, but could appreciate how the rooms would be perfect for an extended stay. There was a full size refrigerator/freezer and the kitchenette was well stocked. The rooms were comfortable and attractive. The only downsides were the noisy location (right off the freeway and on a busy street) and there is no entrance from the major street(s) September 22, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We will be back! What a great place to stay and the best part is you can take your pets! The rooms are spacious and have great kitchenettes. The staff made our stay. The service at check-in was excellent and the staff member even recommended things for us to do in Santa Maria, they went above and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I loved seeing the pets other guests had, it made it feel like home! Thanks Candlewood Suites for a great stay, we would have no hesitation in recommending your hotel to other travellers. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable and clean We were upgraded from a studio to a one bedroom. The bedroom was so small you could not get into the bed with the door open as it hit the side of the bed. We would have been better off in the studio. Overall room clean and comfortable. Wished they had a business center to check emails. Wi-fi very weak as it is in most places. August 17, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff and perfect for stays longer than 2 nights This place was very comfortable and great as I stayed 6 nights. Full refrigerator, small stove top, coffee pot and all the kitchen items needed to cook and eat. The staff was very accommodating and Blanca at the desk handled a discrepancy in the bill and took care of it immediately. Great location for on and off the freeway and relatively close to things to do in the area. I would definitely stay here again. August 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasantly surprised! This was my first stay at a Candlewood property, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff was welcoming, the property was well-maintained and very clean, and the addition of a kitchenette was helpful. We enjoyed the dvd lending library. I especially appreciated that the woman at the front desk when I checked out found me an extra package of m&ms so that my kids didn't have to fight over the one that was in our rewards member gift! It is a bit tricky to find the entrance to the hotel as it is off the main road, but it is doable. July 7, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed in Customer Service and 1 Bedroom Suite I have stayed here once before and had no complaints. However, during this last stay I was very disappointed in the 1 Bedroom Suite. The room itself has an extremely poor layout. Both the bathroom and bedroom door didn't open all the way. In fact, the bedroom door only opened halfway before it hit the bed. The bedroom was also very small which made the matter worse. I called the front desk to ask for either another 1 bedroom that was functional, or a studio suite. The attendant replied that there were no other rooms available even though when I looked online, it showed there was. I asked if I could move the next day since I was staying 2 nights, and was told I could not, even though I saw guests checking in the next day. This may seem like a small matter but I was staying here for a quick weekend trip and spending alot of time in the hotel room. I felt like I didn't want to sleep or watch tv in the bedroom since it was so cramped, plus dvd player was in living room, so I tried the sleeper sofa which was horribly uncomfortable. I understand the hotel was busy but I feel like no effort was made to assist us in our situation, no apology to be made. I paid extra for the 1 bedroom and feel that the room was actually not worth the extra money, in fact, the studio suite is far more comfortable. I won't be coming back as customer service is a huge part of the hotel experience and this hotel does not seem to have it when it counts. May 6, 2013

I work at the nearby Vandenberg AFB and had previously stayed at another brand Motel, and the Candlewood is by far the best place i've stayed at. The room is huge, pleanty of outlests for working and charging all of the toys that we travel with. The kitchen is stocked with all of the quallity pots and pans needed to cook a quick meal, the refrigetrator and icemaker were great and had the nicest microwave i've ever seen at a hotel. Nice tv and a fair assortment of chanels, most in hi-def which was nice also. April 8, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by a terrible experience Our experience at Candlewood Suites Santa Maria was awful. When we got to the hotel at 10pm after driving 7 hours, we were told that they did not have our special request for a quiet room on a higher floor although I'd called the hotel a week before arriving and confirmed it. The receptionist at the front desk didn't seem to care nor couldn't be bothered, and when we asked for the manager, she stared at the computer for 20 min before telling us that they were fully booked. Then, once we had settled in for the night closed to 11pm, front desk called to tell us that they had a cancellation ... at 11pm?!? ... and we could move to a suite if we wanted to. The check in was handled so badly, and we did not get to bed till midnight with our 4 year old completely exhausted and frazzled. Furthermore, I'd sent a feedback to Priority Club customer service, and a representative sent me an email back saying that I would be contacted by the hotel manager within 48 hours. It’s been over 5 days, and I haven’t received any email or correspondence from the hotel. November 30, 2012

We found the rooms to be very good and had all the amenities we needed.
