Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overnight stay The hotel was clean and the service good. I did experience a problem with the billing. I had booked with rewards points but got charged for the stay. When I called, it was corrected immediatley and I was given 1000 extra points. I'm glad to see people talk responsbility for their honest mistakes and handle it quickly and professionally. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dirty Rooms/Unwelcoming Staff I have stayed at this hotel several times over the past couple years. It gets worse every time I stay there. This time my dishes had food all over them. When I went into the bathroom there was hair on the faucet. The room was very unclean. The staff always sits behind the counter in the back and seems to dred coming forward to help you. I had a coworker stay one night and he got to his room and the smoke detector was on the table and wires hanginging from the ceiling. When he called the front desk to let them know they said "your only staying one night is it that big of a deal." I stay there for two reasons its cheap and part of my points club. That is it. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Stay After spending two nights in Parris Island for my son's graduation from Marine Bootcamp, we stayed at the Candlewood Suites for our last night before flying home. We were allowed to check in a couple hours early as our room was ready. My mother's room was not yet and the front desk asked housekeeping to do it next. They indeed did...within an hour my mothers room was ready. The staff helped us with where to go visit also. The rooms were so comfy and clean. Would recommend this hotel for sure!!! January 19, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not enough towels and pillows Requested extra pillows and was told that the hotel was out. Two guests and only three pillows and two towels. Being a Priority member, I would not stay at any Candlewood Suites in the future. Would not recommend any Candlewood Suites to anyone. Even though room was requested as a non-smoking, the room was saturated with smell of cigarettes. January 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall Comfort 2nd visit was much improved than the 1st. Although the trash was full in the room, they quickly came for it and removed. Also, like the first visit, there continued to be many whiskers in the bathroom. This time they were up the side of the shower and up onto the wall. The beds were comfortable, staff allowed an early check in and a late check out which was very appreciated. Van service and staff were very good. November 29, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Stolen Personal Property I left my some personal stuff in the hotel's storage room, thinking it would be safe when I got back, only to discover that some of my stuff had been taken. I forgot a hoodie from an earlier stay which ended up missing when I called for it, but this was left with the personnel of the establishment. I therefore see no reason why I should not have absolute confidence in the safety of my personal property. I would therefore not be going back to this hotel anymore and would seriously suggest to anyone willing to risk a stay at the hotel to keep their personal belongings close. November 22, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by conditions Night staff very friendly. Day staff very neutral. Overall, the room was fine, except for big piece of food dried in the micro wave, whiskers in the bathroom and drawers, clock unplugged and unable to reset. Reported to day staff who just said "ok".....no we apologize or anything like that. Van service was good. Jennifer at night excellent. Will be returning on Friday. November 21, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Property Has Gone Downhill Three years ago, this used to be one of the top Candlewood properties. Now, it has gone downhill. Upon check in, room had only one towel in it. At the daily towel exchange, guests were routinely told "We don't have any clean wash cloths or hand towels". Bathroom had only 1/2 roll of toilet paper. At 6:30 AM I went to the desk to get more. After the service rep. looked, she came back and said "I can't find any more". I had to go to Walmart and buy toilet paper. Bathroom had a half bottle of shampoo in it. Apparently hotel is "reusing" bottles of shampoo between guests? Dirty dishes were found in the dishwasher. One of the people traveling in our group found ROTTING rice in the stovetop pan left from a previous guest that had not been cleaned. Apparently hotel is not cleaning the dishes between guests? Burner pans on the cooktops were caked in dried grease. One of the people in our group had a room with an HVAC system that was not working at all. They had to relocate to a different room after unpacking all of their things. Dirty clothes were found in the chest of drawers in our room and BOTH of the rooms that the person who had to change rooms due to non functioning HVAC system. One of the people in our group had only 4 knives in their silverware drawer. When she asked at the front desk for more silverware, she was told that the hotel did not have anymore. She went to Walmart to buy plastic silverware to use during her stay. Garbage can in the front desk area was overflowing onto the floor with garbage. In the morning, front desk staff is non existant, as only one person is there and she spent her entire time driving the shuttle bus to and from the airport, leaving guests to fend for themselves. No phone calls are answered by hotel staff at this time. The evening front desk staff can be found sleeping with their head on the desk, and it seems to be a "bother" to them if you disturb them. Fire alarm went off (mistakenly) two nights in a row. Until the time that the ownership and the management take pride in their property and their service, and return to providing a quality experience, there are several other hotels in the immediate vicinity which may be a better choice.
