Have stayed here before. Enjoyed stay . Was disappointed this time as room smelled mildewed. Very strong odor. I was told could have switched room wish I did because smell was unbearable don't rent room 103. I was told by clerk at guest that room had had previous flood issues. Carpet definately needs to be replaced. Other than that room was great

My stay was very good, but the staff was even better. I checked out at 4:30AM and was in a hurry to get to the airport. During my rushing around I lost my set of work keys. I called back to the hotel and spoke with the overnight front-desk attendant Trina. Trina said she would check my room for the keys and call me back. When Trina called back a few minutes later she stated she had not found the keys but asked where I had parked. She then took a flashlight out to the parking lot and looked for my keys in the area where I had been parked. Trina called me a few minutes later as I was driving to the airport and reported that she had found my keys in the parking lot. She then stated that she was getting off work soon and could bring them to me. What? (Is this Nordstrom's?) Wow, great customer service efforts by Trina. I stated that I would be back in town in a couple of weeks and would just pick them up at the hotel if she could please keep them there for me. Of course she arranged my request, and I was reunited with my keys a couple of weeks later. I will return to Candlewood Suites for my next stay in Tallahassee because "they care".

Room decor and amenities were most acceptable. However, housekeeping was nonexistent. Four days and no room service, I made my bed daily. Checked in and found nothing but trash in the hall corridor. Used ear swabs and trash. Eventually vacuumed up at 10 pm when I was trying to sleep. Very dissatisfied.

This was my first stay at a Candlewood Suites. It took 3 rooms to finally get it right... The first had a broken A/C unit. The second had a mildew stench, so I went to the desk to request an air freshener and had to spray it myself (it didn't help since I think the stench was coming from the A/C unit). The third room was fine, but I'd been driving for 11 hours, was exhausted, and all of this burned 45 minutes of my evening at 10:00p, so I just fell into bed. The desk employee had been very apologetic and said the manager would handle it in the morning. Nothing happened the next morning and I was charged full price for the room. The maintenance guy greeted me very cheerfully that morning, but I didn't respond with quite the same enthusiasm. I regret that. His cheerfulness was the one bright spot in a difficult stay. Again, I was charged full price for the room, even after all of the trouble I had to go through (I had 8 bags to move since I didn't want to leave them in my car overnight). When the employee at the desk that same morning asked me how my stay was, I told her it was troublesome. She responded, "Have a nice day." I stared at her like she'd sprouted a second head.

I was disappointed that I was never told that room was only once a week. Had to bring dirty towels or whatever I needed (soap, shampoo) to the front desk and that was how they were replaced.
The first room had a chemical smell. The first time I addressed this problem, they sprayed the room, but after one day the smell was still there.
The second time, they changed the room without any trouble.

This is the second time we've stayed in this hotel while moving our kids to college and both times, the rooms have been extremely clean and spacious. Staff is friendly and we love the location.
Pantry is good but I wish they also offered a hot breakfast.

This is the first time I have stayed with this IHG brand and I admit to being very Impressed. On arrival I was courteously greeted by a receptionist who clearly enjoyed her job and insisted that she personally check that my room was ready. This courteous care to detail was evident in all the staff that I encountered.
The room was clean and boasted every convenience to make a stay, whether short or extended, comfortable and relaxing, the reclining chair, DVD player, ice maker and dishwasher of particular note.
I will be coming to Tallahassee over the next four years to visit with my student daughter and will place Candlewood Suites atop the list of my preferred motel accommodation.

We found our room to be spacious but the bed linens clearly were not changed before our arrival. We did arrive at 11:30 pm and I tried 4x's to reach the front desk but no one answered. When we arrived the receptionist was more worried about her new puppy and others in the lobby then to answer the front desk phone. Would choose to stay somewhere else next time.

We were very happy with the Candlewood suites. The lobby was very clean and the service was friendly and efficient. Our room was very spacious and clean and we would highly recommend staying at the Candlewood Suites.

Our son goes to Florida State University, so we do travel to Tallahassee from time to time. This was our first stay at Candlewood Suites. Our stay at this hotel was very pleasant. There were less expensive choices (and more expensive choices too!) The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable. Having a small kitchenette in the room added no additional cost to the room, which was nice. The location was convenient and close to where our son lives. We had no problems whatsoever, and will definitely choose Candlewood Suites when we visit Tallahassee again.

We were awaken in the morning after a long drive by the housekeeping staff playing loud gospel music in the hallway. I called the front desk and they told the housekeeping staff to turn the musics off. It was hastle. Other than that the hotel is OK.

Everything about this hotel experience was outstanding! This is by far a better value for your dollars than Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express! No doubt about it! We did have one small problem but the staff corrected it and we enjoyed our stay in comfort and safety. The smoke alarm battery/unit was deffective - the staff took care of the problem and for our loss of sleep - the smoke alarm went off at 3:05 AM - try getting back to sleep after that - management gave us 10,000 points towards our next stay - somewhere or else in Tallahassee.
We will return in December 2013 for another 4-5 day stay and plan on making reservations with this hotel again! I'm semi-retired and try to make my dollars go further by staying in value-oriented hotels and this is certainly one!

After making the reservation through the central reservation system, I called the front desk to request that we have a first floor room b/c we had a young dog. The person assured me that we would get a room on the first floor. When we arrived, there were no first floor rooms available but we were "Upgraded" to a king suite. I had requested 2 queens b/c we didn't want a pull-out couch for our teenage boys. They found us a room on the 2nd floor with 2 queens. Unfortunately, this room was still occupied when we opened the door. The only thing left was a king suite on the 2nd floor. When we opened the sofa bed, there were cheerios, hair, a child's toy and a thermometer in/under the couch. My dog also found a crunchy paper towel under the king bed - not sure where the crunchiness came from. We were finally put in two separate, adjacent rooms with queen size bed in each room. This accommodation was great and the puppy had no problem with the 2nd floor accommodation. The front desk staff did everything they could to make sure we were in a good room, but there were so many obstacle for them to overcome.

Upon checking into the hotel we were greeted with a friendly clerk. While finishing the check in process several other guests had arrived and were standing in the lobby. When we were presented our room keys the clerk announced our room number for all to hear.
Also a concern of mine was no ice on property. We were told to turn our ice maker on??? That is all well and fine if you have several hours to wait for ice, the other alternative is to get back in your car and go purchase a bag. It seems this could be corrected by simply turning the ice maker when a reservation is made.

We use to like this hotel but after our last stay we have changed our travel plans for next time.
If you are a pet lover than this is the place for you since the carpet in our room was covered in dog hair. Apparently the vacuum was never used after the previous guest.
We wouldn't have protested if they had just come in a run the vacuum but instead they found it easier to move us to another room, only problem was that room was occupied by a big burly construction worker.So we dragged out stuff back to the room with the dog hair and spent the night in distress due to itching noses and watery eyes. Given $20.00 off our bill for this awful visit.
My only failure was not taking pictures for this review.
I did fire off some e-mails upon our return but have not had one response.

Enjoyed my stay. I was in town for a wedding, although the room was not cleaned daily( I think the suites are serviced weekly), it was no problem getting fresh towels. The suite was complete with all the things I needed even makeup remover towelettes. Would recommend for unconventional and longer stays.

I traveled across country with my wife, two teenagers, and dog. Traveling can be stressful and I can tell you without a doubt that when I pulled into the hotel I knew that it was going to be a great stay. Room, service, staff all excellent; great area for pets and the area is great. Great restaurants and lots of choices, I would recommend and stay there again.

I've stayed here 3 other times since 2011, but this time it was well below the standard. Where was maid service? We stayed for 4 nights and never had any maid service. If you wanted fresh towels you had to get them yourself at the front desk. We even had to ask for addl. roll of toilet paper! Front desk staff was not very pleasant and our room key was deactivated after 3 days, even though we had reservations for 4 days, so we couldn't get into our room. This was not a cheap hotel, but sure seemed like it. After staying 4 nights and with no maid service at all, I will definitely be staying somewhere else next time. My daughter is a student at FSU so we will be staying in Tallahassee often, but NOT here! Very disappointed.

I am so impressed with the friendly service you feel very welcome and there is a genuineness about their welcome. I have stayed twice now and would truly recommend the Candlewood Suites to my friends and family as well as the military personnel I work with.
Location is great straight down the road to the Capitol.

The bed in my initial assigned room had a lot of hair present on the sheets. This was the only aspect I was not satisfied with. However, the front desk was able to move me to a nearby room.

We stay here whenever we visit our children at Florida State University and always find it to be comfortable and friendly. We especially like the spacious room with two queen beds, full kitchen, and ample space to spread out. I'm not sure when the hotel opened, but it always smells brand new; as if it were freshly painted and scrubbed. The lobby is attractive and the staff always helpful and friendly. I feel right at home at this hotel.

broken microwave and very loud pool pump that kept us up at night.
ice machine only made 4-6 ice cubes the entire stay. No ice was available in the hotel or room in freezer upon arrival. Drain in tub and sink continued to close. Doors surrounding our room were very loud and obnoxious when shut. Very loud. ;(
