Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rick B59 Excellent friendly staff, very clean room.
I stayed at this Candlewood for 2 months and it was like a little apartment. The staff was always friendly and willing to help with any problems.
The only thing I would change is the size of the TV's (larger, especially in the living area) and a cable TV channel selection with a country music channel.

The only advantage this hotel had over our other options for Woodlands area during the Ironman Texas was the kitchen that included, stove top, microwave, dishwasher and full fridge. Otherwise I thought the nightly price was extremely high given that no one came in on a daily basis to make beds, tidy bathrooms, and empty garbage. The rooms are very noisy if there is anyone staying in a suite above.

While the staff and room size were quite nice, the lack of routine maintenance is glaring. The A/C in the living room was not working correctly and took 4 to 5 days to be repaired. The refrigerator fan made loud noises for the +14 days we occupied the room. It was never fixed. The 4th floor elevator exit flooring has a depression under the carpet. The front desk was notified. This was never repaired during stay.
This property should be a revenue machine. Perfect location in a quiet area near two major hospitals and The Woodlands office center.
Just a little work should make this property really pop!

I have stayed here 3 different times for a total of 6 nights. I have been very pleased with each stay. The rooms I have stayed in were like Kitchenettes which worked very well for me. The Staff were very, very kind, considerate and friendly. The rooms were very comfortable and I slept better than I do in my own bed. I had to call maintenance one time and they were on the spot in less than 5 minutes. I did not use the food Pantry much, but they had what I wanted and was reasonably priced
I would/and will stay there again and would recommend it to anyone.

Pleasant and comfortable experience. From the fully stocked kitchen to a MP3 player, we found all the comforts of home in a spotless, quiet room.
The hotel staff was patient, caring and volunteered services beyond my expectation. At check in, we were invited to the guest reception offered as a courtesy twice a day. The informal meal complete with beverages was a wonderful bonus surprise.
The amenities offered reflect the management staff's attention to the travelers needs. No detail was missed from the laundry service, gym and store in the lobby to the popcorn in the room's microwave complete with a container for the popped corn.

My family was displaced from our home by a fallen tree. We were very impressed by the friendly, helpful attitude of the Candlewood staff. Their hospitality exceeded our expectations and we couldn't wait to get back there each evening.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MarriedBusinessTravelers Another Great Candlewood Property
We have stayed at several Candlewood Suites and this one is really exceptional. The location is close to the freeway, but is still somewhat secluded. It can't be seen from any major road and that really cuts down on the road noise other traffic disturbances experienced at most hotels. Also, their King beds truly are King beds, which is a big plus in our book. We have been disappointed many times at other hotels by the size of the bed. This hotel has been recently updated, so the furniture and appliances are all in good condition. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. We used the lending library to check out a few dvds to watch on the in room dvd player - this is a really nice amenity. We also took advantage of the free coffee \ tea service in the morning, along with the continental breakfast. There is also coffee and tea in each room. We purchased several items from the cupboard, which is like a mini convenience store in the lobby. The only thing we were missing was a non-dairy milk substitute, like a soy or rice milk, but this is a somewhat unusual request, so I understand why it wasn't available. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in the area.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terena Excellent Staff but worst hotel stay ever
First of all, I should start by saying that I am an experienced business traveler, traveling 2 weeks out of the month on a monthly basis. My company paid for the stay. I was surprised to learn that during my stay (Saturday-Thursday), I would only have housekeeping once during that week. When I arrived to my room on the 1st floor (I can't recall the exact room number), it reeked of cigarettes--even though the property is a non-smoking hotel. I asked for another room immediately. The receptionist promptly gave me another room on the 2nd floor. Finally fresh air!
However, the thermostat was broken on the wall. I resorted to using the space air conditioner (on the floor by the window, it was very loud). It was covered with small dust balls. In the bathroom, the vanity mirror was out, so I requested the staff to replace it. They replaced it while I was at work. That night, I went out to buy earplugs because I could hear the person in the room above me walking around, it was pretty loud. I've never heard anyone above me before in any other hotels. The following morning I found the toilet to be clogged, to the point where it could not be used. I asked for the Staff to fix it, and it was working again by the time I returned to my room from work. While watching TV I noticed 4 ants on the nightstand and promptly killed them. I don't see 4 ants as a serious issue, but that prompted me to take out the trash daily. It's almost as if I was in my first apartment again instead of a hotel. On the day I checked out, the toilet was clogged again!
Lesson learned: I prefer full service hotels with daily housekeeping. The bad: the location, I absolutely loathed it. The hotel is behind a medical center, and located off a one way "feeder" road. It was hard to get out on the main road during peak times. I also executed more U turns here in six days than I have in the last couple of months. Clearly, this hotel is for the "do it yourselfers".
When I stay at a hotel, it should be relaxing with little effort required on my part for a comfortable stay. I should not have to worry about plumbing, clean towels, or a clean tub.
Here are a few good things about the hotel that I took advantage of; excellent Staff, free laundry (bring your own soap), full kitchen with utensils, pots, pans ,dishes (includes dishwasher) but no stove, very hot water (even early in the morning), easy parking, very comfy pillow top bed, nice leather recliner in room, free HBO, and an okay channel selection.
Overall, I would not stay at this hotel again.

The hotel it's self was decent. We liked having a kitchen in our room. A few areas to improve on are as follows:
1) please invest in some comfortable pillows. The bed was very comfortable but my neck was so sore every morning because the pillows. Maybe some flat pillows would be helpful.
2) The 1st gentleman we checked in with in the late evening was very helpful and friendly. But the rest of the time we were there they didn't even crack a smile or say hello.

I don't normally write reviews but thought I should after this stay. The gentleman who was working the desk when we checked in was so nice and extremely helpful in making sure that our stay was a good experience....he even told us of a great place to go grab dinner and gave us perfect directions. I would most def stay here again....You just don't come across too many people these days who go above and beyond their job description! Thanks for making us feel so welcome!!

When I arrived at The Candlewood Suites in The woodlands after a long day of travel ,i was to say the least, not in the best of moods. That quickly changed the moment i walked in the door and was greeted with polite exhuberance , and the warm atmosphere of the lobby. The hotel was quiet, clean, and full of resources to stay independent and focused on the work i came to accomplish. Thanks Candlewood! ill be back!

Called prior to arrival to request ground level room and was told it was no problem to have a room on the first floor. When I arrived they said they did not have a first floor room available and didn't know about my request. After telling them that I had spoke to their front desk the previous day they offerd to put me in the 'accessible' room at a higher price. I refused to pay the higher price and they reluctantly agreed to let me have the room at the lower rate I had reserved my room at. After seeing the 'accessible' room I knew it would not work for me (all the normal storage removed) with an extended stay and requested to move to another room as soon as it was possible. The front desk told me that would be OK and they would have a room available the next day. The next day there was no room availalble again and I was told they did not know about the request to move and was assured that tomorrow (Friday) rooms would be availalbe. On the third day there was still no room availalbe. Again I was told by the front desk clerk that nobody and made my request known to them and they had just filled the last first floor room. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told there would not be one available until Monday. Finally on Saturday about 9PM I was called that a room was available and I moved to that room. When I swapped out the keys for the new room the clerk told me they had forgotten about the request again and she was just about the fill the empty first floor room when she saw me in the hall and remembered my request. In the new room I found the fridge still had food in it and my dog found a dried out half eaten sandwhich and a dog toy from somewhere in the room shortly after arriving (but otherwise the room was clean). The manager never made an effort to contact me on the Monday they returned.
In addition to having diffiuculty fulfilling my room request, during my stay I observed the trashcan in the hall overflowing onto the floor for days at a time. Often this area stunk quite severly of rotted food and waste. When the front desk was made aware of this problem they said that most of the housekeeping staff had recently quit and they were having trouble keeping up with this maintenance. Also, the Candlewood Cupboard which I typically enjoy was poorly stocked and never restocked.
I have stayed at several Candlewood Hotels in the past to the point that I am a platinum member, spending numerous weeks each year travelling for business. The others I have stayed at have always been clean and well managed with hepful staff always able to accomadate requests. This Woodlands location clearly falls short of the customer service and cleanliness standards I have observed at other Candelwood Hotels and I would not recommend it.
