    Patricia at the front desk made this visit helpful. Her recommendations for the area were spot on. The low point value for Priority Club Rewards, however, will keep me at Holiday Inn Express properties from now on. As always, IHG staff are better than the properties.

    Good if you need a kitchen

    The hotel is located along a 4-lane frontage road, next to (but not AT) a traffic signal. Getting out was complicated because you either had to turn right and turn around in a parking lot down the road or you had to turn left across 4 lanes of busy traffic at a slightly blind curve. Also, there is only one ramp that will get you over the curb and into the hotel: it is located on the left side of the parking lot near the handicap parking spaces. That means if you park where most of the available parking spaces are (to the RIGHT of the building), you will have to hike a long way with the luggage cart.
    Checking in/out was simple and the staff was very friendly. The common areas were nice and clean, and the convenience of the business center and Cupboard are nice (even though there is a convenience store/pharmacy right across the street that is cheaper). The hotel is obviously dated and beat up. I'm not sure the owners have invested much money into being competitive compared to other hotels in the area that have been recently remodeled. The suites have a kitchenette with a full sized refrigerator, stove top, microwave, and basic appliances (more appliances can be borrowed in the lobby). Pots/Pans/silverware/canopeners/plates/bowls/etc are all in the room. This hotel does NOT have an ice maker, so you have to pray that the built-in ice maker in the fridge works (mine stopped after 2 days).
    I had a Queen size studio room. The bed, although obviously used quite a bit, was very comfortable. The decor and furniture are VERY outdated, but useable. Housekeeping only occurs once a week (Monday), so if you need more towels or supplies, you have to exchange them at the front desk. If you have to empty the trash, you need to take them down to the end of the hall where they have large trash bins (thank goodness I didn't have a room down there! I could only imagine how it smelled). The bathroom had mold on the walls and ceiling, and the vanity drawer and half the cabinet are almost unuseable because you have to close the bathroom door all the way every time you want to open it. Halfway through the week I stayed, I ran out of bottled water and decided to drink the tap, which was innocent enough (the normal super chlorinated variety). However, every day I drank the tap water, my stomach turned ill (without getting into details, it reminded me of my travels to places without potable water). I can say for certain it was the water's fault, but it was the only thing that changed (I was eating all the same foods too).
    The in-room wifi password they gave me wouldn't work (and no one could seem to find a solution to it)...that was ok because my cellular data was MUCH faster than the wifi.
    I didn't use the fitness room or the compliementary laundry facilities (you just have to provide your own detergent). The front desk also has a libary of DVD's to borrow (assuming you don't find anything to watch on cable). But the pool was pretty nasty. It is in a separate building and all teh windows were nailed open permanently (it got down to 40 degrees in the evening, making it nearly impossible to enjoy it). The walls were covered in mold, the hot tub and pool liner was chipped/cracked/and spalling (peeling away in large chunks) exposing rough concrete underneath. And the towels were the size of hand towels, which meant I had to use several to dry off (and you aren't allowed to take them with you OR to use a bathroom towel).
    Overall, I found the hotel useable, but was disturbed at the amount of mold I saw. The hotel is a great value if you would prefer to cook your own meals and save money on food. However, don't expect a super clean and contemporary facility.

We are sorry that you have difficulty accessing the hotel and we agree that during peak travel time times the area can get a little congested due to the rapid growth of restaurant and retail in recent years. The Candlewood brand was developed to meet the needs of the extended stay traveler. They regularly praise the fully stocked kitchens, stove tops, built in microwaves and full size refrigerators. As you suggest, the hotel provides a great value for the long stay traveler looking for a home away from home. Many guests familiar with Candlewood amenities looking for a competitive rate find the hotel a great value for an overnight or weekend stay as well. As with all IHG brands, guest service comes first. Any request or need will be happily and promptly fulfilled. We are disappointed that you find the hotel dated yet thrilled you found the Queen Bed very comfortable. Our hotel is less than 7 years old and some may consider the style of decor out of fashion. Product improvement is an ongoing process and key changes and updates are scheduled for the appropriate time. Like product improvement, routine maintenance is a constant process as well. We sincerely appreciate the feedback provided and have addressed and continue to address the items you have noted. We hope that if your future travel calls an extended stay, you will consider a Candlewood Suites.
