We needed a separate room with a door that you could close and the Candlewood suite was perfect. Only gripe I would have is their fitness center could have had more options that just one machine. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Decent for a one night or few night stay I could of certainly done without the torn furniture along with stained towels. Overall, the staff was great and very friendly. I was disappointed that they did not have breakfast for people who preferred not to cook their own breakfast. The value was okay. The mattress sunk in a bit which was unpleasant.. I would try another room here before I make up my mind as to whether I will stay here more often or not. June 29, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by From someone who knows. I travel for a living. I have been at this Candlewood for almost two months. I have seen and stayed at my share of one stars, this hotel is not one of them. No matter what silly request I have had or any needs, this staff goes above and beyond to help me with any occurrences. The location is top notch. You can get anything you need with five minutes of driving. The only drawback I see here is there is no pool, but no Candlewood has pools. This is an extended living style hotel, not bring your kids and let them run the hallways type of operation. If you need to stay in the Wilson area and want a clean room and a staff that lives southern hospitality, then this is the hotel for you. June 22, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! I don't even know where to begin....but I will say, DO NOT stay at this hotel. It is not worth the time or the money. My family and I have been staying at this hotel for a few years now....we've just been notified that we've never received our hotel points after the many years and multiple stays , the rooms are despicable, we've found a dirty knife in our mattress, the furniture is old with a stench of smoke in the non-smoking rooms, house keeping supposedly clean the rooms every three days or so, no air conditioning in the main bedroom so it'll get pretty hot in that particular room....I mean I can go on and on! In the beginning, the rooms at this hotel were pretty good. Now, reaching management to notify them about customer issues or the rooms in general are down right terrible and impossible. During our most recent stay attending my sister's graduation (13th-15th June 2014) our debit card was charged before we arrived which was a collective decision between my husband and I. During check-in, WITHOUT even giving the manager my debit card because we had already paid, we noticed there was a hold for the full amount of our room for that weekend which we couldn't have released until we checked-out on that following Monday. Just too much.....the manager on duty that evening was having difficulty contacting her boss to rectify the issue because we were always told she/he was never around or they were busy. And this not only happened once, but twice. Other customers were affected by this same mishap as well. To be brutally honest this hotel, in this particular location, is not a good choice. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Memorial Day weekend stay Overall, our stay was pleasant. A few things worth mentioning. First, there was hair in tub and on bathroom floor. Both chairs in the room showed considerable wear (the desk chair and side chair by bed). We reserved a queen studio suite, but the room seemed much smaller than previous rooms that we stayed in and the bed looked like a full-size. We have stayed at Candlewood Suites for the past 6 years or so and always during the Memorial Day weekend when we visit with family. The cable TV was being upgraded and we experienced disruption. The front desk staff made us aware of the cable upgrade during our check-in. It was important that my husband was able to watch the NBA games. The cable issue was resolved to our satisfaction. I will stay here again as we like the small kitchen area in the room and the location. June 6, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Very Disappointed I stay at IHG properties quite often and I am not an overly picky person but I have to say my stay last week left a really bad taste in my mouth. For starters I reserved a queen suite and when I arrived they tried to put me in a double and charge me more than I was supposed to be charged. Then they switched me to the right room but in the process they held the full amount for both rooms on my card. Which isn't a huge thing but I travel every week and I really don't like having unnecessary amounts held on my card. I waited a couple days to see if they would remove it and then the higher amount for the room that I didn't stay in posted to my card. When I asked the desk about it I was told that the other amount would drop off and I would get a credit back after I checked out. This didn't sit well with since the total never posts to my account until after I check out. As far as the facility goes it was fair but just not really clean. The elevator needed to be vacuumed and had the same wrapper in it for 2 days sitting in the corner. My room was again fair. Some of my dishes in the cabinet were dirty. The pillows were flat and seemed worn out and the recliner had rips in it. Had one night that the wifi was out for the night, not a huge thing, but then the next day I come back for lunch and see that maintenance has been in my room and taken the TV. I understand they were changing out equipment, however I had a do not disturb sign on my door because I don't like people in my room when I am not there. If they needed to be in the room I would think they should have put a note under my door the night before so I would be aware of it. Then to make matters worse the new system didn't work in my room that night and when I came back the next day for lunch it still wasn't working and they had to move me to another room. I am pretty easy going but I do have certain expectations, especially after staying at your property in Plano another Candlewood where the general manager took great pride in her facility and it was always immaculate. I actually canceled a reservation at the hotel right next door and by they second day was really regretting it. On one last note and this didn't apply to all of the staff but most of the front desk staff needs to work on their customer service skills. Simple things like acknowledging guests as they walk through the lobby goes a long way instead of putting their heads down hoping we don't need something. May 21, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bad first impression on Saturday, May 3 We travel with a small dog and this is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. The entrance to the hotel was frightful. Trash cans overflowing with trash, cigarette buts all over the place. Check in was OK, the young lady who checked us in was pleasant and efficient. The hallway on our floor was filthy, trash on the carpet, however our room was clean. Our room was smaller than the one where we stayed last. One side of the bed was against the wall, making it very difficult to get out or in on that side. There were many guests with children involved In a little league event, but they were very well behaved and well supervised. The number of restaurants in the area gives us many options. The location is adjacent to a shopping mall, should anyone have the need to go shopping. We were charged the usual pet fee. The staff at check out was apathetic at best. Also, I asked for a receipt and was told that they do not provide one...strange...why not? As someone else already said, watch your credit card, just in case. We would stay there again for overall convenience, at least, while the rooms stay clean. May 9, 2014
