Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Paid Twice Even though I paid for my room in cash, I was STILL charged for my stay on my card and the money was withdrawn from my debit card. The girl at the desk assured me that since I paid cash, there was no way that my card would be charged and it was. After calling, I was told it would be refunded but here I am, six days later, and still don't have my money! Unacceptable! Guess I will be calling again tomorrow... December 31, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly and mostly clean I stay here when I go visit nearby family. I have pets and the best part is that this is a pet friendly hotel. The staff are always friendly and the rooms are always clean. The only problem I had on this visit, the room was a tad more expensive than normal and when I grabbed one one the wash rags, it appeared to have old makeup stains on it. Perhaps that's to be expected at a hotel but it's not one that I would wish to use. Overall, a good experience though. December 29, 2013

We had to switch rooms twice due to additional unexpected guests and the staff always promptly found us a new room without hesitation.Rooms were clean and comfortable and the small kitchens were a blessing! Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Filthy room and no follow up Overall summary, absolutely terrible! We were there early in the morning and there were no rooms available so I asked the desk clerk, Brooke, to please call me when there was a room available. We returned at 3pm to check in and she had just left. No follow up. We checked into the room, opened the door and it was filthy. The carpet was not vacuumed, the bathroom floor dirty with hair, the night stand between the beds had a solid round sticky substance on it, carpet dirty with stains, recliner covering peeling, old small box television, light switch pushed into fixture, food between pages of compendium, kitchen counter area dirty, top of refrigerator dirty. I was also leery if the linens had been changed. We had the carpet vacuumed before we unpacked and the person who did this seemed to have an attitude issue. We cleaned the entrance and bathroom floors with a wash cloth and brought the now black in color to the front desk. The GM was there at this time. There were apologies but don't think they were sincere. I had asked to have the light switch fixed and it never was. I hope no one gets zapped. After we left, I had a question regarding my bill and spoke with Cheryl who said that she would have the GM call me back. I never received a call. So, no follow up and room filthy in poor condition. I will definitely not stay here again nor recommend this hotel. December 3, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Every customer should be important I am a disabled veteran and I sometimes like to stay at candle wood to get away. I complained to the desk clerk about the pet hair all over my bags and I got "I"ll inform housekeeping". The last time I stayed I had 2 visitors in my room and when I called the front desk the clerk said"I'm sorry. I"ll call pest control. You're checking out tomorrow." Is there anything else I can help you with? I'd rather not spend my money where I'm not taken seriously. The Clerks sometimes fail to acknowledge that I am a rewards member. I imagine it would be different if I were a Gold Member.. November 7, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Underwhelmed Once off I-95 on road into downtown Wilson, hotel is just off highway. Parking lot is large and well lit. You'll find it next to the Hampton Inn. The clerk that checked us in was distracted and only grudgingly took a few seconds to find our reservation. Absolutely no other info about the hotel, on location of elevators, Wi-Fi or anything else was provided by the clerk. We felt privileged that she took the 30 seconds needed to give us our key. Never smiled, spoke or acknowledged us the whole time. The lobby is small but comfortable. There is a pantry which normally works on the honor system, but the clerk at check in never mentioned it. There is also a work out room and free laundry. One elevator is available in this 4 story hotel. Room had a smell when we entered, but we were able to open a window to remove the foul odor. This is an extended stay hotel. It had a full size fridge, microwave and two burner stove. Room also had a recliner and digital HVAC control. Layout was good and size was fine. Beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows. Sheets could possibly have been changed before our arrival but were not crisp. Water pressure not great in the shower, but there was plenty of hot water. Other facilities in the bathroom worked as design. Breakfast is not provided in the hotel. There are plenty of restaurants nearby. We highly recommend El Tapatio which is an authentic Mexican place within walking distance from the hotel. We like Candlewood Suites, but will likely not return to this on October 27, 2013
