I stayed at this hotel alongside my parents and autistic brother. I have to say the hotel staff was very understanding of our situation and helped us when we needed it most. The room quality was [More] everything you needed really, you get wifi, diffrent tv channels to go through, even a Ethernet cable in case you need to use your computer or want to do a bit of gaming ( that's if you bring your console obviously. If I came to San Diego again I wouldnt think twice before considering staying at the crown plaza again Thanks for everything [Less]
Retro Polynesian Hotel
By carealtor
Sixties vintage Polynesian style hotel nicely restored, the Crowne Plaza Hotel San Diego Mission Valley was convenient by car to the San Diego Convention Center. The room was nicely redecorated. [More] Dinner at restaurant was quite enjoyable. Unseasonably cold windy weather during stay, so I didn't enjoy outdoor pool or spa. [Less]
Good spot to rest
By John in SoCal
I had a race starting at 5:00am in Imperial Beach/Coronado, and needed a place to get a few hours sleep. This hotel was great for that; so I'm not sure how the pool, fitness center, and breakfast [More] where, but they were probably just fine. The Holiday Inn Express is a good, clean, decent, well maintained place to crash at least for me, and I recommend it The one thing - and it's not really their issue - the hotel A/C units turn on and off all night. It would be MUCH MUCH better if the fan would just stay on all night. The constant on/off wakes you up a little. All of these units seem to work this way, it's frustrating. [Less]

The hotel was very clean and the [More] amenities provided are excellent. I will most definitely be returning to this hotel when in the area again. [Less]

Great stay - would have gotten 5 stars except for the powdered eggs
By Chadhoo
If you are planning on going to Sea World why wouldn't you stay here? It is about 2 miles from the park. When we checked in and asked about a place to eat, the desk recommended two places across the [More] street (a sushi place and thai place). Best thai place I have ever eaten at. Room was on the top floor. The best was very comfortable, clean sheets and towels. The bathroom was small but who spends a lot of time in the bathroom? Lots of parking all around the hotel so you don't have to hike to get to your car or room. Pool was small, more of larger but colder hot tub. Those horrible powered eggs... ugh. I was hoping they had changed to real eggs... life isn't perfect - but thank good ness for leftover Thai food. The staff was very nice and even though they had work to do, had a brief but pleasant conversation with my nine year old son. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and wanted at this hotel. [Less]
