Good stay
By MEOD
Overall I had a good stay at the hotel. It was quiet, I was able to sleep. It was a bit clunky getting onto the internet. It took several tries before I was able to get in. The front desk staff [More] was good, not great. Checking in was a bit painful, the agent was not friendly (just doing his job attitude). I had to return to the front desk after reaching my room since the key didn't work. No apology, no recognition there was a problem, he just fixed it. I was impressed with the service from the second front desk person I connected with (it was a different person). I explained I needed a fridge for breast milk and he was more than happy to help me. He was able to locate a fridge and had it delivered right away. The third front desk person I connected with also had that same just doing my job attitude. This person I interacted with in the morning of check out. I was waiting for some time before I was even acknowledged. He was sitting out of view and it wasn't until I coughed pretty loudly that he came over to check me out. No apology for the wait, no recognition I was waiting, he just did his job. The restaurant staff for breakfast was great. The manager (host) was friendly and happy. Breakfast was OK. Good overall and good variety. I would return to the Crowne Plaza and next time ask for a room in the women's wing. I suggest advertising that! I was unaware until my co-worker's informed me of it. It was quiet and I was able to sleep. For that alone, it was a great stay. [Less]
A Little noisy
By Bloomington Boy
First, let me say this is a large, old converted Holiday Inn, at least 45 years old. The lobby, pool area, restaurant and rooms have all been nicely updated. The main place you will note that it is [More] an old property in the hallways and room doors; low ceilings and old (but nicely repainted) doors. It was a pretty noisy nite with several groups arriving between 2:00AM and 4:00AM. The noise travels pretty well thru doors and the concrete structure, so this basically resulted in a "Wake-up" at 2:00, and little sleep after that; good that we weren't here with a business mtg the next day. On the plus side, the room was decent size & comfortable; for us a BIG plus was the bed didn't have the usual HEAVY comforter, but a preferable blanket. We ate at the bar, and the food and service was excellent, albeit light dinner, salad, soup, burger, and great fruit cup. The reason we picked this hotel was it looked decent, in an area we wanted, and price. Since it was a Friday nite the rates were about the best for a mid-tier hotel. No complimentary breakfast; which we knew going in, so not a criticism, just a fact. [Less]

Entry doors to hotel were slow

Excellent hotel for concert goers. Wished I had found a Holiday Inn closer to Macalester College. No problems, Holiday Inn provided me with better than adequate accommodations. [Less]
