top class hotel, great facilities and staff with easy access to town. Use of fitness centre is great and the rooms themselves are fantastic. I travel two or three times a week on average and this is best night sleep in a hotel for many years

We have stayed at this hotel every time we visit family and friends in Liverpool and are always treated well and courteously by all the staff

Unfortunately, the stay at this hotel was not good. I booked an Executive room and the photos on the website and description showed that this comprised a double room with mezzinine floor. This was confirmed by the customer service rep on the phone. I required this extra space as I was staying with two young children (6 months and 2 years old). Upon arrival the room provided was only a double room with a sofa bed - no mezzinine floor. I then went to reception to see if the room that I had thought I had booked was available. When I arrived the receptionist was addressing another couple and whilst I was waiting she provided them with a free upgrade to the Ambassador suite. She informed them that if the room was booked later that night then they would need to vacate, but it wouldn't happen. I then queried my room only to be informed that the Executive suite does not have a Mezzinine floor and that this is only available in the Ambassador room. I explained the description on the website and what I was told over the phone and she agreed that the description was incorrect. I then asked if I could book an Ambassador room. At this point she said that it was not possible as they only had one room that had just been taken - the room that she had just given to the other couple as a free upgrade! I stated that I would be willing to pay for the room, but the room was not offered. I was told that I may be able to book it tomorrow. The Executive suite was not ideal as it did not provide the space and as it comprised of a double and sofa bed next to each other it was actually less comfortable and useful than a double room with two king beds. I therefore asked to be moved to a double room with two king beds. This was quite inconvenient having arrived with young children at night. The next day, management did provide us with a couple of bottles of wine in th room and access to the club lounge - which was of no real use to us!! So overall not a great experience and the staff member handing out free upgrades in the presence of willing paying customers; along with false room descriptions is not really acceptable. If I had time to find another hotel I would have.
