Great location and helpful staff

What a nice stay in Adelaide. We all were there for a conference but our off time was made very easy by asking for help at the front. They were so helpful and pleasant. Whenever we needed any information they had it. Their information was honest and we trusted their advice. Our stay was fantastic!

Disappointing stay

We have stayed here as a couple several times and have seen the overall experience slowly deteriorate over the past two visits. This time, I travelled over to Adelaide by myself to again sort out family matters. From the start, things were different.
No one was there to meet me at the driveway so I found a spot to abandon the car and went inside to check in. The reception staff were friendly as usual and the room was fine. Having visited an ageing relative on the way from the airport, I was there around 1pm for lunch and the restaurant was, again, haphazard at best. This seems to still be the weakest point of the hotel. An enquiry about a cocktail was met with "our bartender's new" which seems to be an ongoing problem so I just ordered a G&T. The staff generally seemed to be unsure if they were working there or not but my sliders arrived in reasonable time and were okay. Getting further drinks was more difficult and I began to wonder if I was supposed to venture up to the bar as others seemed to be doing.
Upon departure, it took a while to get the bill and the result was an overcharge. The corrected bill was a significant undercharge and, upon pointing that out, I was told that "it's OK, it's our mistake".
Later that day, I rang the concierge to retrieve the car and reception answered. Throughout my short stay, the concierge desk seemed to be deserted. I waited out the front for a while for the car to be brought around before a staff member came out to find out what was happening. Apparently, through a misunderstanding, the message about the car hadn't gotten through so I had quite a long wait. It eventually arrived but, upon my return from picking up a relative from the airport, there was no one out the front again and so I abandoned the car and left the keys with reception. Somehow, this was misconstrued as bringing a second car to the hotel and I was charged a second valet parking fee #which I have subsequently had refunded but only after I checked the bill on return to Melbourne#.
The room was clean and comfortable and quiet so sleep was good. As a Gold IHG member, I had a 2pm checkout but was woken just after 8am by a sullen African cleaner who demanded to know when I was checking out. He let the side down because the other hallway staff were cheerful and friendly.
I have to say that, as usual, the staff were generally friendly and helpful and, whilst the ever helpful Simon seemed to be missing this time, Justin was there with his usual smile.
Checkout was quick #the hotel seemed to be unusually quiet# and the car was eventually brought around when I left at about 12.30.
This hotel has the potential to be really good as the rooms are quiet and spacious enough and it's in a good position. However, it was again let down by the bar/restaurant and, this time by the apparent lack of front of house/concierge staff. The restaurant, Red Salt, promotes itself as a serious dining venue but it has a long way to go when compared to other venues which are walking distance away.

Great location and good food

Stayed several times in Adelaide and this is the best of the 3 previous hotels. Excellent check in, good dinner food and service. Breakfast staff not as good but all very helpful and friendly.
A very good room, would recommend staying in the higher floors as we did.
Will definitely stay here again.
