Glimmers of hope to build on

I've been very loyal to the IHG brands, their rewards program and had over 120+ hotel nights in 2014 alone. This is about one of the only stays at probably 150+ properties I've ever stayed at in my life that was negative by my account as fault of the properties general maintenance and front desk staff. I understand there is a renovation at this location on-going.

Breakfast/ Restaurant: Superb, Super friendly staff courteous
pretty much the same for the bar. Fix the toaster though. 10/10.

Rooms: Cleanliness was fine the housekeeping staff are great, good HVAC system easy to "dial-in" and not noisy (rarity for any hotel), however maintenance is really bad. I had what appeared to be a semi-renovated room and just basic homeowner stuff is not maintained. Examples: No Teflon tape on the brand new shower head i.e. sprays water randomly (tightened it down myself), toilet seat super loose and hanging on by a thread, what appeared to be blood on the ceiling over the shower, uneven carpet, bathroom door didn't close, front door lock catch was off and loose had to "jimmie" the door closed. If I (or random person anywhere on the planet) compared my room to the 20 - 30 other Crowne Plaza's I've ever stayed at no question were this one ranks. They also did not have the nice bed linens and pillows that to me are a signature of this brand.

Front Desk: Check In, Very Good but for a hotel of that size with a line 6 to 8 check-ins deep and only one but a great lady and some huge conference in town ... bad. (10+/10) and some pity for the lady there. I mentioned to her that I booked a refundable rate with the hotel and my colleague was able to rebook the same day, same room and save about $150 for the duration of the stay. I asked her if I should cancel and rebook now since it appeared rooms were available but she was busy and was sure if my buddy did it the manager (she) would be able to take care of it. Later on I saw a couple guys at the front desk and asked about this again, they gave me the managers card and kind of blew me off and proceeded to go back to their cellphones. Later I did receive a 3-5 second call and was definitely blew off by a woman identifying herself as the hotel manager and told me they would not be adjusting my rate and then click after they asked if this was the guest. IHG is big on find a lower rate somewhere, we'll give you a night free. Aweful. (0/10)

In the you can't make this stuff up as I was heading back in during my stay, I was stunned when some lady at the front desk was telling some poor foreign couple who looked exhausted that kept saying "but i have a reservation" ... "sorry we have no rooms there is nothing I can do for you" It's kind of like a culture of animosity towards the customers here by the face of your hotel, the front desk staff that is again by some.

I hate to have to write a bad review, we were limited in options for hotels during our stay here (most sold out) and this was the only one available and kind of went in to this stay with low expectations (based on the bad reviews) but I should have set them even lower. I've previously stayed at the Intercontinental, Hotel Indigo and Holiday Inn Centennial Park when visiting Atlanta which the latter is one of my favorites and has some of the friendliest staff I've ever encountered. IHG keep the renovations going they are needed almost everywhere... you know where I and you should start.

Terrible service and cold water

The staff there was horrible. They made mistakes on my reservatiosn and didn't do anything to make my stay more comfortable. The night valet didn't pay attention to cars pulling up and we had to find him. The shower water was cold and the hallways smelt of mildew. In room service was decent but expensive. They let me check in early but couldn't accomadate a late check out. I've stayed at way better hotels for the price. I don't reccomend it.

I've Always Loved Crowne Plaza Resorts but......

A great location for business and leisure. Includes a full choice of restaurants and stores close by. They are in the process of updating/remodeling the rooms and hotel, which is great! The staff and manager are awesome, accommodating and very professional and friendly. All of the valet staff are also great and friendly, except the weekend valet manager is untactful, unprofessional and curt. He does not show concern for the guests' needs. The guest rooms in their current condition are outdated and are not very clean but the front desk staff will go above and beyond to address and correct any concerns you may experience during your stay, as they did for me. What started out as a not so good experience was made the best that it could be after they tended to my concerns.
