Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Attention to Detail = Excellent Stay My wife and I stayed at this CP Lido with certain expectations. We knew that the hotel is very new and therefore, the possibility of problems or issues could exist. Here is the great, good, and ugly of our stay: 1. The Great - Virtually everything was perfect. We arrived by way of taxi and were immediately greeted upon exit from the taxi. Our arrival was around 4:45 p.m. and once we gave our passports at the check-in desk, we were immediately greeted by our names and recognized as Platinum Elite IHG members. We were taken to our room on the 10th floor by one of the employees. So - the greeting and communication upon arrival was perfect! Now to the room. The room was brand new with no spots or stains anywhere. The couch was very comfortable. There were two toilets in our room so plenty of room to get ready or have privacy. The bed was fabulous! There were 34 total channels on the TV with 10 in English. There were channels in Chinese, English, Russian and Korean. Both TVs were digital and worked great. The water pressure was perfect and we never ran out of hot water. We had a view of the highway from our room; however, we could not hear any of the vehicles. Having stayed in many, many CP rooms; this room was as perfect as one could expect. We had no issues with WIFI and although not as fast as the US, we did not get knocked off when we were checking email, etc. The hotel has 22 floors and on the 22nd floor is the Club and it is literally the nicest club of any CP I have ever visited. It is monstrous in size; elegantly decorated; and the friendliest attendants that I have ever met. The Club floor gets an A+++ The elevators are always important with a hotel this size. They were clean and very quick. We never had to wait but a few seconds for an elevator to arrive. The Health Club is located on the 4th floor and we loved it. The Health Club has huge windows that allow you to bicycle, work out and see outside. There are numerous pieces of exercise equipment. The pool is huge with a lifeguard on duty. The changing areas were clean with towels provided. The Matrix - this restaurant on the first floor is the largest restaurant that I have ever seen at a CP anywhere! It is clean, warm, and inviting. There are places to eat if you want privacy or you want to look out the window. However, the breakfast selection is hard to describe - they have everything! The choices were amazing and many. You could stay here a week and eat something different each morning. What I would like to compliment is the staff - WOW! They were terrific with great attention to detail. The warm smiles and willingness to help were a breath of fresh air considering what you would see when you were riding on the subway. It seemed that the staff really enjoyed working at this hotel and restaurant. The Lobby is immense and clean. It can accommodate many, many people and you would never feel crowded. I loved the decorations and attention to detail. The foozball with the World Cup ongoing was a nice touch. The cold lemon water was refreshing. It was located right next to the check-in counter. Concierge was very helpful as we had numerous bags. They helped unload from the vehicle, take to our room, and reload when we left for the airport. 2. The Good: Virtually everything was GREAT about this hotel. The good is that taxis were readily available each time we needed one. The reason that I place this in the "good" category is that the hotel is pretty far from downtown and the subway is not close at all. So... if you need to go somewhere, you are going by taxi. 3. The Ugly: There was absolutely nothing ugly about our stay. It was perfect! I do have one suggestion though. The lobby is gigantic and very spacious with a foozball table and lots and lots of standing room. As far as I could see, there were only four chairs in this gigantic lobby. Chairs would be a nice upgrade to this beautiful lobby. I realize that the reason there are not many chairs is that there is a large bar area just to the left when you enter the hotel. It is wide open with lots of seating; however, not everyone wants to sit in a bar area with a feeling of obligation to make a drink purchase. Our stay was flawless from the time of arrival until the time of departure. I compliment the General Manager for selecting such a marvelous staff. I would stay at this hotel without a second thought on my next trip to Beijing. I have now stayed at every CP in Beijing - this CP Lido is second only to the CP Utown. Both are amazing hotels! If you need to be near this area or the airport; don't hesitate, stay at the CP Lido. I highly recommend this hotel! 18 July 2014
