Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Rate for the Room Size and Location Hotel was pretty easy to find and good directions given on website. Car parking relatively cheap for a city centre and was undercover/garage so protected. Room was large and good value for two double beds. Restaurant seemed fairly expensive given the closeness to the town centre and therefore variety of options. 19 September 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Over priced 3 starl - Parking can get expensive We have 8 month old boy and wanted something close to city to be flexible to return back for sleep after shopping. The hotel is 15 mins from the bull ring mall. However if you are using the parking - the hotel doesn't have it's own parking but uses the NCP just below. The car park can be accessed easily by foot. However, you have to pay and use the car park every time you get your car out and it's not on 24 hrs basis. So don't be fooled when it says £13.50 for 24 hrs.... We ended up paying £25 just on parking which was a clean rip off. Rooms are good well maintained but nothing very pleasing.... Would find something different the next time we visit Birmingham. 11 September 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Diamond Wedding Celebration We booked our Parents Diamond Wedding Celebration at the Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre, and were very pleased we did. The location is great: 5 minutes walk of New Street Station, and The Bull Ring Shopping Centre, and not too far from Birmingham Airport. As Family were meeting up from all over England, and Ireland, many of us stayed at the Hotel too. The Rooms were clean, with very comfortable beds. Most important to us, was the Celebration Meal. Everyone commented on how nice the Food was. And Mark and his Team who looked after our Table were excellent. Crowne Plaza events organiser Sharone had arranged for us all to have our Meal in a separate 22 seater Dinning Room, which we were delighted with, the table was beautifully decorated which added to my Parents special day. I would recommend this Hotel, and would stay there again. 04 September 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely service, great modern room for such a small price! The service was very warm and welcoming as soon as we arrived. The room was exceptionally spacious with very nice modern furnishings. The bathroom was immaculate with plenty of complimentary items. The location was perfect as it is right in the centre of town. The hotel overall exceeded our expectations greatly! I would honestly recommend this hotel to everyone who wishes to visit the city of Birmingham. The credit is where its due! Thank you for such a good experience. 04 September 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT HOTEL & LOCATION We stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed our visit. The Food & service is excellent. The standard room was spacious, comfortable and really clean. We ate in the restaurant on our first night and was great value and could not fault our meal. The hotel is right in the city centre and just round the corner from the Sympony Hall were we went to on the 2nd night. The Crown Plaza is an excellent chain of hotels, never disappointed. 29 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Yardstick for all IHG properties is here! The Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre is easily the best hotel I have stayed in for the 7 years I have been travelling around the country for my job. From the moment you walk in the main door a smile appears on the face of the Front of House staff and a warm welcome awaits. Check in is a breeze and is both friendly and professional, and I have always been recognised as a Priority Club member. All rooms are tastefully decorated and in good condition. If your lucky to experience a Club Room, the extra touches added are great. The wifi signal is perfectly good for both working and browsing and sufficient tea/coffee is supplied. One disappointment to be brutally honest was the little sleep pack (ambient sprays etc) no longer seem to be supplied - I loved them! Check out is as easy as check in, and when asked if the stay was ok - it feels like they are genuinely interested that everything was ok. It's always ok - it's great! I don't get to travel to Birmingham as much anymore - but this is always my first choice of property if it is within my work budget. Some other IHG properties should come here and see what excellent service actually is - you will learn something! 27 August 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Consistency needed Platinum member stayed many times here. This was a 3 day treat I booked for my wife and daughters birthdays. Disappointed that no platinum member benefits were extended to this booking as I could not make the trip, especially when finding another couple was given an upgrade as it was their wedding anniversary. Consistency..... 21 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great room, service and location Stayed for the 20-20 cricket. Staff excellent, great parking directly under hotel and payment dealt with by hotel before leaving. Stay made even better when realised the Hampshire team and sky pundits were also at the hotel. 21 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ticks all the boxes Ideal location, with parking, in Birmingham city centre. Very convenient for Brindley Place, Conference Centre, New Street Station, Shopping. We booked well in advance and got an excellent rate. When we arrived, we were upgraded to a club/executive room on the tenth floor. Great room - had everything plus a rooftop view! Added bonus of using the club lounge which offered complimentary drinks and continental breakfast. All in all - perfect for our overnight stay, just wished we had been staying longer. 21 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent stay Stayed at a Crowne Plaza before in London and it was great, so had high expectations - and even though this was a much cheaper room, we were not disappointed. For a family of four to stay including breakfast it was an excellent rate and very nice room, 2 double beds...maybe would be nice if they could offer families the choice of a double and 2 singles, but still nice decor and very nice bathroom - all modern. TV, air con, mini fridge and tea and coffee facilities in room. The lady on reception was very nice and helpful, she gave us a map and pointed out where some local food places were. Breakfast was a very comprehensive buffet style, loads of food and filled up regularly. The hotel was also in an excellent location for the town centre and amenities - pleasantly surprised by how nice the town was, we did a lovely walk by the canal and a very nice food market was also on. Would definitely stay here again if needs required us to go to Birmingham. 18 August 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good rooms - terrible customer service Good hotel, one of my many stays here, stay away from the reception area, the younger staff have no idea how to run a hotel. 17 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Large room Needs better shower screen or a door. Would have liked a bath. 16 August 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing Stayed on a Friday night in August. The room was comfortable and we enjoyed a good nights sleep in the beds, When we checked in we enquired about whether we could upgrade to the Club Lounge. We 'd had to book a standard (two bedded room) . There was no option for a two bedded club room and club doubles were £20 more expensive. We were informed by Connie on reception that there were no club rooms with 2 beds and it would cost us £30 to upgrade. So if you want club lounge access in a a twin room you are penalised by £10 and have to stay in a standard room into the bargain. When I protested that I was a loyalty club member- no difference. A benefit of loyalty club membership is a free paper (sorry it was a weekend so not available) and a late checkout. Once again the same person on reception gave us a "computer says no" answer". Apparently the hotel was very busy on the night that we were leaving (Saturday 10th). But when I protested that the hotel had NOT been busy on the Friday night that we had stayed (surely there were lots of unused made-up rooms from the previous night) it made no difference. what could have been a good stay was spoilt by a "no can do" attitude. A pity. 15 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ticked nearly all the boxes Room comfortable - liked the kingsize bed. Room tastefully decorated. Breakfast good. Location central to city centre which was ideal. Only niggle was the fact we overlooked the demolition of the building behind. I realise this is not the fault of the hotel. Would go back if the price is right. 11 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Another enjoyable stay Booked well in advance then phoned hotel approx month before stay and helped by Maria who was undergoing training. She confirmed all things in place and provided us with our room numbers.really pleased with that as exactly what we preferred. On check in a young lady of oriental descent assisted us but seemed to be a little confused. Eventually we were given a key card which didn't have the room number(s) that Maria gave us. The card had 2 crossed out room numbers plus the one we actually stayed in. I had hoped to 'show off' the hotel to the two friends who were with us but sadly it didn't work! Hotel as always impeccable. Rooms excellent and sufficiently supplied with provisions. Bar prices a bit extreme, including tea! Breakfast great. Just what was needed after hectic previous day. Mattress and pillows superb. Would like to stay again if easier check in process. 09 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel We stayed for just one night but could have definitely stayed longer ! Room was very comfortable and clean and the little "extras" were much appreciated. Would di finitely choose this hotel again. 08 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location We visited Birmingham for a girls weekend. The hotel is located in the city centre, near bars and shops. We had a great room with 2 double beds, it was stylish and very clean. Only problem was the air conditioning was very noisy. Apart from that a great hotel. 04 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Smooth and comfortable stay excellent staff Standardised service, comfortable and helpful staff 03 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful staff I have been staying at this hotel on and off for the last 6 months and during this time I have got to know the hotel and the staff very well. The staff are second to none, reception, bar, restaurant, domestic. All members of staff do their upmost to ensure that your stay at their hotel is the best you could possibly have. Any problems you experience are quickly and effectively dealt with. My only critism would be there are insufficent lights within the rooms; other than that, the showers are good and the beds are always comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure. 26 July 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good, with a not so good twist We booked a family room and enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, their systems are not quite up to accomodating the deals on offer , so we were overcharged by about 10% and had to claim this back afterwards. 13 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Continuity appreciated I only used the room and late bar on my one night stay but found all the staff with whom I interacted unfailingly polite and efficient. Room clean and fresh and bed comfortable. I have stayed at this hotel several times over the last 10 years and this had been my experience each time. 11 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Home from home I don't normally write reviews, but I stay here regularly so thought I'd make the effort. For me it's the most comfortable, consistent, friendly and value for money hotel in the city. I've stayed here about 15-20 times and never once had an issue. 11 July 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tv channels need improvement I have always stayed here over the years. I think atleast a CNN and CNBC is an absolute need for business travellers in your hotel. 08 July 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice rooms Nice location, large rooms, very comfortable stay. But be careful about your your booking/rate at check in and out. At chk-in they said my room had only one bed when I had specifically requested two beds at the time of booking, then sorted it when I insisted (as I was sharing with a friend). At chk-out they tried to charge me more than the internet rate I had confirmed on. Again sorted it out when I questioned it...but no apologies. Still, a good hotel to stay in. 30 June 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel & Location Great Hotel, courtious staff, nice breakfast, prompt room service. 30 June 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely Room but Breakfast in room not so good I booked a suite a few months ago at a very good price. It was lovely, nice lounge area with sofas and table and chairs, tv. Gorgeous bedroom with such a comfortable bed, heaven. Loved the batheroom with huge bath, seperate shower and proper sized toiletries, I hate those tiny ones usually left in hotels so well done for that! We had access to the club lounge which we really enjoyed, a few glasses of wine and canapes before we went out for the evening is such a nice touch, and certainly sways me to book a club/suite room again! The only down side of the visit was the breakfast. We opted to have room service and all I can say was the tea nad coffee was the best part! The cooked breakfast was cold, toast cold and burnt, not great. We didn't complain as we needed to get on the road and couldn't wait for another one to be replaced. All in all a great room, loved the club lounge and would stay agin 21 June 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not bad but needs some TLC to bring this hotel up to standard Parking was close but space was tight, but we did find a space after soom time. Room was good but it just needed some TLC, skirting boards where badly damaged. Cllub lounge in the evening was good but at breakfast there was no coffee pods for the machine so we had to use instant coffee. Food was OK but again not what I would expect in a Crowne Plaza Club lounge. 20 June 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LOVED HAVING THE TWO DOUBLE BEDS IN THE ROOM! This hotel was perfectly situated for our needs. 5 mins. walk to Broad Street, 10 mins. to Brindley Place, more or less next to The Mailbox. The room was extremely comfortable. In my experience I felt it was a little pricey, but at the end of the day I suppose you get what you pay for. Breakfast was hot, fresh and plentiful. My only criticism was the dirty floor. 17 June 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Very poor service from Reception I checked in and 10 am and was informed b the receptionist that she could not issue me with the room keys as the rooms were not ready. I informed her that that would be OK as long as she ensured that we did not have any problems when we return back to the hotel after 6 pm. She assured me that she would. At sometime after 1 pm someone form the hotel telephoned my wife at home to inquire if we were going to take the rooms. She telephoned me on my mobile to let me know what had happened. I was therefore forced to telephone the hotel at a great amount of inconvenience. When I did so, the telephoning was totally ignorant as to us checking in at 10 am. I informed her what had happened and she assured me that she would ensure all would be in order when we return to the hotel later on. ON OUR RETURN TO THE HOTEL AT 7pm WE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN AND THIS TIME WE WERE GOING TO BE ALLOCATED ROOMS WITH KING BEDS DESPITE HAVING RESERVED TWINS BEDS AND ALSO HAVING INFORMED THE RECEPTIONIST IN THE MORNING THAT WE WERE 4 MEN WHO WOULD REQUIRE TWINS BEDS IN BOTH THE ROOMS. 15 June 2013
