Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing Stayed on a Friday night in August. The room was comfortable and we enjoyed a good nights sleep in the beds, When we checked in we enquired about whether we could upgrade to the Club Lounge. We 'd had to book a standard (two bedded room) . There was no option for a two bedded club room and club doubles were £20 more expensive. We were informed by Connie on reception that there were no club rooms with 2 beds and it would cost us £30 to upgrade. So if you want club lounge access in a a twin room you are penalised by £10 and have to stay in a standard room into the bargain. When I protested that I was a loyalty club member- no difference. A benefit of loyalty club membership is a free paper (sorry it was a weekend so not available) and a late checkout. Once again the same person on reception gave us a "computer says no" answer". Apparently the hotel was very busy on the night that we were leaving (Saturday 10th). But when I protested that the hotel had NOT been busy on the Friday night that we had stayed (surely there were lots of unused made-up rooms from the previous night) it made no difference. what could have been a good stay was spoilt by a "no can do" attitude. Only niggle was the fact we overlooked the demolition of the building behind. I realise this is not the fault of the hotel. Would go back if the price is right. 11 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Another enjoyable stay Booked well in advance then phoned hotel approx month before stay and helped by Maria who was undergoing training. She confirmed all things in place and provided us with our room numbers.really pleased with that as exactly what we preferred. On check in a young lady of oriental descent assisted us but seemed to be a little confused. Eventually we were given a key card which didn't have the room number(s) that Maria gave us. The card had 2 crossed out room numbers plus the one we actually stayed in. I had hoped to 'show off' the hotel to the two friends who were with us but sadly it didn't work! Hotel as always impeccable. Rooms excellent and sufficiently supplied with provisions. Bar prices a bit extreme, including tea! Breakfast great. Just what was needed after hectic previous day. Mattress and pillows superb. Would like to stay again if easier check in process. 09 August 2013

We had a great room with 2 double beds, it was stylish and very clean. Only problem was the air conditioning was very noisy. Apart from that a great hotel. 04 August 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful staff I have been staying at this hotel on and off for the last 6 months and during this time I have got to know the hotel and the staff very well. The staff are second to none, reception, bar, restaurant, domestic. All members of staff do their upmost to ensure that your stay at their hotel is the best you could possibly have. Any problems you experience are quickly and effectively dealt with. My only critism would be there are insufficent lights within the rooms; other than that, the showers are good and the beds are always comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure. 26 July 2013

Unfortunately, their systems are not quite up to accomodating the deals on offer , so we were overcharged by about 10% and had to claim this back afterwards. 13 July 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice rooms Nice location, large rooms, very comfortable stay. But be careful about your your booking/rate at check in and out. At chk-in they said my room had only one bed when I had specifically requested two beds at the time of booking, then sorted it when I insisted (as I was sharing with a friend). At chk-out they tried to charge me more than the internet rate I had confirmed on. Again sorted it out when I questioned it...but no apologies. Still, a good hotel to stay in. 30 June 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely Room but Breakfast in room not so good I booked a suite a few months ago at a very good price. It was lovely, nice lounge area with sofas and table and chairs, tv. Gorgeous bedroom with such a comfortable bed, heaven. Loved the batheroom with huge bath, seperate shower and proper sized toiletries, I hate those tiny ones usually left in hotels so well done for that! We had access to the club lounge which we really enjoyed, a few glasses of wine and canapes before we went out for the evening is such a nice touch, and certainly sways me to book a club/suite room again! The only down side of the visit was the breakfast. We opted to have room service and all I can say was the tea nad coffee was the best part! The cooked breakfast was cold, toast cold and burnt, not great. We didn't complain as we needed to get on the road and couldn't wait for another one to be replaced. All in all a great room, loved the club lounge and would stay agin 21 June 2013

Room was good but it just needed some TLC, skirting boards where badly damaged. Cllub lounge in the evening was good but at breakfast there was no coffee pods for the machine so we had to use instant coffee. Food was OK but again not what I would expect in a Crowne Plaza Club lounge. 20 June 2013

This hotel was perfectly situated for our needs. 5 mins. walk to Broad Street, 10 mins. to Brindley Place, more or less next to The Mailbox. The room was extremely comfortable. In my experience I felt it was a little pricey, but at the end of the day I suppose you get what you pay for. Breakfast was hot, fresh and plentiful. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Very poor service from Reception I checked in and 10 am and was informed b the receptionist that she could not issue me with the room keys as the rooms were not ready. I informed her that that would be OK as long as she ensured that we did not have any problems when we return back to the hotel after 6 pm. She assured me that she would. At sometime after 1 pm someone form the hotel telephoned my wife at home to inquire if we were going to take the rooms. She telephoned me on my mobile to let me know what had happened. I was therefore forced to telephone the hotel at a great amount of inconvenience. When I did so, the telephoning was totally ignorant as to us checking in at 10 am. I informed her what had happened and she assured me that she would ensure all would be in order when we return to the hotel later on. ON OUR RETURN TO THE HOTEL AT 7pm WE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN AND THIS TIME WE WERE GOING TO BE ALLOCATED ROOMS WITH KING BEDS DESPITE HAVING RESERVED TWINS BEDS AND ALSO HAVING INFORMED THE RECEPTIONIST IN THE MORNING THAT WE WERE 4 MEN WHO WOULD REQUIRE TWINS BEDS IN BOTH THE ROOMS. 15 June 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad experience As me & my fiancé went into the room, i used the toilet and the first towel i picked up had a massive stain on it which i rang down to reception to get it changed, and they did. then late on in the night as we was ready to go sleep, we notice the bottom of the bed was all dam and wet, I'm sorry but how could this be, i have stayed at your hotel plenty of times but now it has put me off, i shall tell my business friends and make sure my clients dont use your hotel in birmingham because it was awful. i would recommend you after this bad experience. Have stayed in many hotel in birmingham city and this was by far the best. slighty cross when checking in they asked for full payment? on main booking line they told me full payment on check out....but happy and helpful staff. very clean. please also be aware before leaving tips in resturant as large service charge hiden at bottom of signing standard bill... i didnt see this so ended up leaving good tip and in morning checking out and payin service charge. food was totally great in resturant with yummy chocolate hot tart. 05 June 2013

The room was very clean and tidy, it was also very stylish and modern which i look for in a place of stay, and the bed was comfortable. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay ! Met up with 2 friends for weekend commencing 17 May and we all stayed at the Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre Hotel. Lovely modern hotel with very welcoming atmosphere which we all enjoyed. Room and bathroom fresh and clean and decorated well. Breakfast was hot and freshly made with a good variety to suit all tastes. Staff were extremely helpful and answered all our requests with courtesy. Big thank you to them. If this hotel is typical of your chain I would definitely stay in one of your hotels again. Our next trip will be down Southampton way towards end of year. Thank you. Carol 25 May 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by sky sports in room Room are normally upgraded to club rooms for gold and platinum members but they were unable to for us as they didn't have the availability. Instead they offered us a complimentary drink and canapes at the bar. This was not explained very well by the receptionist and was very confusing. A real plus for us was that they had sky sports in the rooms which I have never really come across before even at 5 star hotels. 19 May 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ideal weekend break I stayed at the crown plaza for the night over the weekend and overall thoroughly enjoyed my stay, me an my girlfriend were treated very well and all the staff were polite and helpful. Rooms were nice and spacious and well designed. Complimentary tea and biscuits were also in the room. The bar was quite expensive however compare to places outside the hotel it was about right, comfortable seating downstairs next to the bar. The design in and around the hotel is very modern , could even be described as quality. Shops and restaurants are close by which was great. Upon leaving we could leave out luggage safely with staff while we went out to lunch and had a last browse around the shops, when we came back they staff offered to order us a taxi. Overall very please and would consider coming back 19 May 2013
