I recently stayed here with a friend for a girly weekend away. We both had a brilliant time. Our room was great, well presented and had a gorgeous view over the square. The staff were consistently helpful and friendly which made us feel very welcome. The hotel was ideally located for us and the treatments we had in the spa were lovely. The only mini gripe is that the shower was pretty small which would definitely have been an issue for a taller guest!
I would highly recommend this hotel and intend to return in the future.

We recently stayed for 2 nights for our niece's wedding and thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.
The meal was superb and the service was very good - the staff were very pleased to help and quick to apologise when our meal the night before was taking over long to be served.
On the downside was the price of parking and the cost of drinks at the bar.

One of the nicest hotels in Edinburgh, close to many great shops, bars & restaurants. The hotel has the most comfortable beds & the breakfast is lovely, catering for most appetites, with off menu requests always managed. The George bar does a great evening meal in nice surroundings, again with a good selection on the menu & often a set menu including a drink at a very reasonable price.

Friendly and very helpful staff . Hotel in ideal location for most of the attractions in Edinburgh. Rooms comfortable. Special mention to Fiona Wright for the excellent massage she gave my son

We have stayed in the Roxburghe several times before and this was the most disappointing. On arrival at the car park we found there was not a space to park and also no one 2 advise.
On first morning found shower not to be working no hot water. Reported this to reception and was told it was fixed. After attending a Ball in the Roxburghe I returned after a full nights country dancing to find shower now had hot water but pressure knob above would now not turn fully. This meant shower pressure was extremely poor. Called reception and advised and they did not appear to be very sorry.
When checkin out I mentioned this to girl and this time I got a very pathetic "I'm sorry".
Both mornings when having breakfast my hot breakfast was served to me before I had finished my cereal.
I am disappointed in having to write this we have attended this Ball and enjoyed ourselves much more and had far better service all round.

What a difference a day makes... my first stay at this hotel in December was excellent, largely due to the reception and greeting received from one Gavin Stirling, the Head Concierge.
The second stay went not so smoothly: they took an age to open the car park gate, to which you must be buzzed in. (You also have to reserve a space in advance which I did). The club lounge breakfast was chaotic because "the restaurant is full, and the kitchen can't cope". Afternoon tea took an age despite several requests for attention because "everyone is busy with the wedding". The Afternoon Tea was eventually delivered and not charged.
As a ICH member I receive a bonus point voucher each stay: on both stays they had run out of vouchers and said they would post them manually. They didn't, and still haven't, on either stay.
Despite all that, the hotel is in excellent location, the staff are perfectly helpful and polite and the rooms are adequate. With the huge variation in Crowne Plaza standards I will stay again but perhaps with slightly lower expectations.

I couldn't do anything from my room, not much more in the lobby.
