The only downside to my stay (long story, apologies) was when I arrived I was told I had booked two rooms which I had already paid for. At no point pre arrival to the hotel had I had any documentation about an extra room, I only needed and booked one. A few days earlier I had a call from IHG stating I had not paid for my 'pre paid' room. I argued with the lady that I was sure that I already had, as it was pre paid, and I seemed to remember paying over the phone directly to the hotel. I found my email that confirmed this, but she still insisted I hadn't paid, so I paid (again). I turns out that I was paying for this mystery second room..... Anyway, back to my check-in, Nick, explained he would call up to my room to transfer me to someone in the office that would be able to resolve my problem. This is where the real problems started....I had taken my other half away for a surprise weekend for his 30th birthday, we were planning on settling in and getting ready to go out for our meal in 1 and a half hours time. Nick didn't call, so wasted 10 mins waiting. I called down to reception and he apologised and put me onto IHG, I then had to explain my situation again and be further passed onto another caller, having to explain AGAIN. This caller then stated they couldn't do anything and the hotel needed to deal with the issue. By this point we are far from relaxed, and running very late!!!! Unable to contact the front desk, we leave the room to go and find Nick, who is adamant the hotel cannot refund and explains we will need to wait till morning to speak to the manager. Stressed, worried and very late we leave it at that. In the morning I speak to Jill, who I explain my situation to once and she immediately refunds me the room with no problems!!! Why could this have not been solved the evening before, or just tell me I need to wait till morning? A waste of time, poor customer service and spoilt the evening for my partners 30h.
