A bit far out, but a good hotel

I came to this hotel again as alternative to the overpriced Amsterdam city hotels during peak times. If you don´t mind walking 10-15min to Hoofddorp train station, you can connect easily to anywhere in Amsterdam using public transport.
The hotel is in good shape, beds comfortable, no noise which are my main criteria. But they also take care of you with details like providing a jogging map, water and towel. Little things sometimes make a difference.

Sleepless in Hoofddorp

I stayed at the Crowne Plaza last week as I have a number of times over the past 2 years. It is usually a pleasant stay and is close walking distance to my employer.

Unfortunately this time, I had an experience on the first night which made the rest of my experience miserable.

My wake-up call never arrived on my first morning. I ended up missing my breakfast meeting and being behind for the entire first day. I recall a sign which stated that there was a Wake-up guarantee. I expressed my frustration after the missed wake-up call and the staff was apologetic, but mentioned that many guests had that same problem due to a system failure. For the rest of the stay (3 more nights) I slept poorly waking up to look at the clock every 2 hours.

When I checked out and asked about the guarantee, the staff member politely apologized. I brought it up again before catching the shuttle to the airport, and the staff member provided me a voucher for the shuttle.

Did I fantasize the wake-up guarantee due to my lack of sleep?
