Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Extremely helpful staff and comfortable rooms Our stay at this Holiday Inn was comfortable and fit our needs perfectly. A place to sleep and to have a nice breakfast to start our day of sightseeing. Location worked for us. We were able to walk to all the important attractions. The only area that was a bit far was Oxford Street and Harrods. The tube, and taxis are easy to get so that really was not an issue. The cost of the room was definitely good for London (everything in London is very expensive!). But it is not a luxorious room and hotel, it is comfortable and very clean and that is all that we needed. The housekeepers did a very thorough job each day. And the front desk personnel were just awesome! Always friendly and willing to help in any way possible. Jennifer was extremely helpful but the others were too. That in itself was worth the cost. Having staff that helped and did so cheerfully. I would stay here again and recommend this for anyone who is on a budget. 18 January 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Time for that refurb The hotel is in a reasonably good location south of the river. I have stayed in plenty of Holiday Inn Express, so knew what to expect. The staff were friendly and helpful. However, the hotel is looking tired internally and in need of refurbishment. I know that the ground floor dining area is undergoing some upgrades. Hopefully the rest of the place will follow on. And you really need to sort out those noisey radiators! 17 January 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Most polite & helpful staff For good public transport access for shopping,theatre and sight seeing this hotel represents very good value plus the benefit of on-site car parking at reasonable cost. The staff were very friendly and helpful . The breakfast choice was good in a clean and comfortable area. The only negative was not having an extra pillow in the room but if I had asked I am very confident one would have been brought to the room straight away such was the excellent attitude of the staff. Overall this hotel can be considered ideal for business and general leisure purposes and child friendly.For a special occasion however most guests would probably want something more grand. 06 January 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Relaxing comfortable stay Ideal location to view the sites of London. The staff were very warm and welcoming and the room was clean and comfortable and it was very quiet too. Only a few minutes walk from the tube it was easy to find. The entire hotel was clean and tidy and it was easy to relax. If your looking for somewhere to stay within easy access to London's many attractions, you won't go far wrong with this hotel. Will use this hotel again for future London vists. 06 January 2013

She (and the others) helped us find our way around, recommended restaurants and saved us some $$ by suggesting transportations options. Thank you all very much. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location in Southwark Stayed here for 2 nights when visiting the O2 for a gig. Chosen because it's fairly central (easy walking distance from the Millenium Bridge, Tate Modern and Globe) whilst still being a very easy journey by tube from the O2 (Jubilee line with no changes) and a short walk from Southwark tube station. It's a typical Holiday Inn Express so we knew what we were getting, and although on the front of the hotel the room was quiet thanks to the secondary glazing. There was a limited choice of cereal, fruit and yoghurt for breakfast but baked beans, sausages and scrambled egg were available so you could make yourself beans on toast if the rest didn't appeal. 11 December 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Bed Ever! Hotel is in a grest position for exploring London and is minutes from the Tate Modern. Hotel is spotlessly clean and staff were friendly. One major drawback however....this was the most un- corfortable bed I have slept in ever. When I mentioned this at reception in the morning the staff did not appear interested which was a shame as they were very frindly smiley people. 10 December 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Free WiFi in room In general, the stay in Holiday Inn Express Southwark is a positive experience. Not too far from Metro station, and quite easy to locate. The room cleaniness and comfort is meeting expectation, except there is no wired Ethernet in the room. Even though there is WiFi in the room, but it is not free. The charges per-day-use is way too high at 12.50 pound as compared to BT Fon, at only 5.00 pound. "Encouraging" customer to go down to lobby area to use the free WiFi is not projecting a right image of Holiday Inn. I have been to Holiday Inn Express in Asia, and free WiFi is very key in selecting the right hotel to stay. 09 December 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Don't use room 602 The room itself is lovely, however the radiator in the room was tapping in a rhythmic pattern from around 3am, meaning I had one of the worst nights sleep I've ever had in a hotel. I was told I'd have some Priority Points added to my account so that I could have another night of hopefully better sleep but as yet it appears that they're not there (I think, looking at the last couple of stays it seems they've not been added anyway) In short, I wish I could say I had a relaxing night here but alas I didn't 06 December 2012

At our 3 breakfasts only fresh fruit was sad looking oranges,there was no natural yogurt or cheese. One morning there was no coffee in the machine. Nothing bad to say about this hotel, no queues at check in which is usually a bugbear with me for other hotel chains, staff were friendly, room clean and cosy. Not cutting back to the bare minimum of supplies and taking away phone like a certain otehr chain. Only downside was stopping out until 5am clubbing which meant I slept all through breakfast which i was miffed about but its my own stupid fault realy so I'll give you a 5/5 for breakfast even though I didnt make it but based on my previous experience of your breakfasts and the fact that you actually include it in the price instead of ripping customers off charging extra im sure its deserved. Also at other chains I have had loud noises such as cleaning, broken lifts, deliveries etc disturbing me throughout the morning but I was left in peace to deal with my hangover and the staff werent stroppy about us being a bit late for checkout. Only one slight gripe, my friend bought a carton of ribena and was charged about £1.30 which is a bit ridiculous. Great location too about 10 mins walk from Tower Bridge staion and 5 minutes from shops and amenities, Tower and its touristy area is in within 15 mins walking distance too. 20 November 2012

The location is good;although room can be crowded for 2-3 people. The staff provided excellent service and Mr.Wilson,.Franscesco,Mr.Charley were amazing persons. Suggestion for rotating breakfast menu instead of keeping same items all the time. 19 November 2012

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very convenient Very accessible to our needs - theatre, attractions etc. Staff very friendly on arrival making a great fuss of granddaughter (which she loved) and also very helpful on the occasion when I rang before arriving enquiring about distances to the theatre etc. The dining area for breakfast is the only thing I would say let this hotel down but the staff were extemely helpful when my husband asked if we could take breakfast to our room as the granddaughter was still asleep! 08 November 2012

Couldn't have been more happy with the politeness of the friendly staff - the bedroom and bathroom were clean which is all I want from the room after a days sightseeing and catching up with friends in London. However, the breakfast was a disaster...as everyone seem to come at once meaning long waits for a table with nobody in a rush to eat up (rightly so...why should they) and the food when we did sit down was just warm after trying to get through waiting visitors to get to the small food counter.....reminded me of my propping days on a Saturday afternoon - but without the shorts and a gumshield!!! 05 November 2012

Last 2 visits was distrurbed by building works nearby, generator and alarms very late at night and until 2am at rear of hotel Not the hotels fault. Best to ask for a room overlooking front of hotel. Bathroom decor can be a bit tired in some rooms. 21 October 2012

We would especially like to thank Jennifer, Elena, Edwin and Elisabet. We had planned to transfer to another hotel during our time in London, but cancelled that reservation and extended our stay at the Holiday Inn Express because of the friendly, helpful staff. We also enjoyed the open, airy comfortable lobby which provided free wifi and a good hearty breakfast each morning. The friendly ambience also extended to the staff serving breakfast, as well as the maids cleaning the rooms. The hotel's location in Southwark suited our needs as well, as it is convenient to bus transportation and only a short walk to the tube station. It's also only about a 10-15 minute walk to the London Bridge area and the wonderful Borough Market. We will definitely stay there again on our return to London. 20 October 2012

Nice restaurants in the near area and good pubs. The breakfast could have a greater variety but the late night bar was very nice as we were some travelling together. 05 October 2012
