I would rate Crown Plaza Heathrow as the best hotel I have stayed in. As a traveller who stays away 2-3 nights a week the staff make it really feel like home from home. Rececption always try to find me the best room available and nothing is too much trouble. Cannot reccommend it highly enough.

Recent changes are a backward step

By

This has always been one of my favorite hotels to stay in whilst in London, even to the extent that I would stay and commute into central London.
There appear to have been changes however, particularly with respect to the club longe access. Whilst I am not there often enough to be "in the top 40 guests", I am a regular user of IHG Hotels - The Crowne Plaza Heathrow being at the top of my list for the relaxed atmosphere, particularly in the Club Lounge.
On checking in this week, I was:
a) Told that I did not have access as changes had been made (shouldn't I have been advised of these?)
b) I could pay £24 for access but it was not an option as too many other guests had already taken the offer (despite the fact the Club Lounge only had 3 people in it at 7.30PM when I looked through the door!
c) When I checked out the following morning and I mentioned my dissatisfaction I was asked if I was offered the £24 option and told I should have been given it regardless of how many people had paid for it!

I understand the need to control access to the Club Lounge but I have to say that this is a backward step, the staff do not appear to know what rules to apply and therefore apply then inconsistently. So the Crowne Plaza Heathrow has changed from my favorite IHG Hotel to almost one of my least favorite and it has to be the most dissatisfying stay I have had in the last 6 years of being a regular visitor!

Please find a better way of controlling access to the Club Lounge and reward guests that stay on a frequent but not necessarily weekly basis.

Dear Andyc53, Thank you for your review following your recent stay at the Crowne Plaza London Heathrow. Please accept our sincere apologies for your disappointment during your stay. The Platinum Elite benefits remains the same as per IHG Rewards T&C's and an upgrade to a superior still being offered based on availability in addition to Welcome Bonus points or drink voucher and complimentary breakfast. I am very sorry that the recently implemented changes to the Club Room Product and Lounge access impacted your experience. The Club Lounge access is not part of the IHG Rewards benefits and a discounted upgrade rate is available to all Platinums who wish to upgrade upon arrival as you are aware which is based on availability. Unfortunately we cant sell upgrades if the lounge is sold out which then could cause an issue with the oversubscription in addition to health and safety. In addition, due to the lounge having frosted glass doors, it would be difficult for anyone to understand lounge availability or how busy the lounge actually is in any particular time. As a hotel we contacted 400 of our guests, who shared their information, so we were able to advise of the new policy at the end of last year however due to data protection we were unable to contact all guests. Once again, please accept my apologies. The feedback we receive from our valued guests, like you, enables us to target problem areas. We welcome any opportunity to improve. I look forward to welcoming you again in the near future and hope you will continue to choose IHG for your future travel needs. Kind regards Ronan Manager Guest Relations

Room uncleaned

By

01 March 2015

Arrived quite late on a business trip and was greeted at reception and given my room key in a timely fashion. I got to my room and wanted to grab a bath but the bath was stained with shower gel and lots of hairs. Rang up customer services and I felt like I was bothering they guy on the other end rather than him wanting to help. Not once did he apologise for the dirty room. He offered that they come clean the room. I requested a new room instead as I was tired and I wanted to get to bed. It took over 15 minutes for my key to arrive but only after having to stop housekeeping to contact them for my other key. I was changed rooms, which was also poorly cleaned. The shower gels and shampoos were stocked but the bottles were empty and stained with soap residue from the previous occupant. Once again, reported this to the same unhelpful gentleman on the phone who was quite abrupt this time. Had to wait another 15 minutes to get new shower gels from the friendly but overworked housekeeping lady. Won't be booking again. Holiday inn next door is a thousand times better.

Great Breakfast

By

01 March 2015

club

Stayed in a lot of hotels in my time and airport hotels don't normally do it for me but this one is an exception. Very good room size, quiet rooms and good restaurants but the outstanding area was the breakfast. I don't think that I've ever seen a better selection - absolutely wonderful !! - highly recommended.
