Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Mini Suite I received a complimentary upgrade from a standard king bed room to a mini suite with a panoramic view of the San Jose skyline (great view of the sunset and moonrise). My suite had a very clean and comfortable king bed, sofa bed, sitting chair, coffee table, and desk with chair. I received complimentary bottled water and executive lounge access. The executive lounge is located on the 12th floor. Since breakfast and manager's reception in the executive lounge are not offered on the weekend, I received vouchers for complimentary breakfast and complimentary beverage in the hotel restaurant on the lobby level. I liked the flexible cancellation policy and the availability of bonus point packages. I also liked the proximity to VTA light rail (short walk through the Cisco campus). I had dinner in the hotel restaurant, which was reasonably priced. There is complimentary parking for hotel guests and an airport shuttle. My suite was on the 8th floor, which is the quiet floor (policy enforced during the week). There is a large fitness center, and there is an outdoor pool and whirlpool. Fellow IHG Rewards Club elite members, I suggest booking a standard room, since the hotel is willing to upgrade us to a mini suite depending on availability, but I would not recommend booking a mini suite (and then hoping for an upgrade) because there is only one two-room executive suite (suite 1202). The two-room executive suite is on the top floor and is basically a mini suite plus a standard room. Given the enormous difference in price between the mini suite and the two-room executive suite (for not much more space), it is hotel policy not to grant an upgrade from a mini suite to the executive suite (even if it is available). I'm fine with that policy, since the mini suites are very nice. The only constructive criticism I have is that while my suite had a flat-screen TV, all of the channels were in standard definition. Another minor comment is that neither the bathroom sink nor the shower would drain properly, and I was up to my calves in water during my morning shower. Another minor comment is that the hotel pantry does not have an extensive variety of items available for purchase, and the items that are available are marked up steeply. 05 February 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent stay, some minor nits. I last stayed at the hotel in 2005 and decided to try it again noting that it had been remodeled. The hotel is excellent for business travel and would probably be great for leisure as well. The room I had was great; big enough to feel roomy and the desk is a plus. The staff was excellent all around. I would stay here again. I do have some minor nits and I go into detail just because I would give all 5 stars if any one of these were addressed. I have a large selection of places to stay at when I come out on business and will certainly have this Crowne Plaza in my short list from now on. - The room has a large, relatively new, flat screen TV. But none of the channels available are in HD. This was hard to believe; some local stations even assume that everyone has an HD TV because their news programs use the entire width (and hence do not display well on the TV in the room). To come back to the room after a long day in the office and have to watch programs in standard def...ugh. - My room was on the side facing north. At 3AM or thereabout, on some nights trash would be put out in the big dumpster out back. I am a light sleeper I guess, but what a racket. On other mornings, trash gets picked up. I'll have to remember to ask for an even room number next time. - I set the room thermostat to 71-72. When the heater kicks on, there is a startup period where it actually blows cold air into the room. It is quite noisy during this period to the point I have to raise the volume on the TV 10 notches up (e.g., from a 6 to 16). The heater then goes into pushing warm air into the room until the temperature is reached; I can usually lower the volume down a little (e.g., from 16 to 10). With everything else that was modernized in the room, the heating system should be as well (although I can see where that would also be costly). 31 January 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautifully Remodeled and outstanding service Great front desk personnel as they were very helpful and accomodating. This hotel provides a family friendly atmosphere and also meets the business traveler's expectations. Great facility with ourstanding amenities. Food and bar service is outstanding with a very friendly staff. 16 January 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LUV'd this hotel! I am a flight attendant and stay in a lot of hotels; however, this one was a great surprise. My first time here was New Years Eve, and I was fortunate to have 20 hours there. It started with the shuttle driver picking us up at the airport and being very friendly. Then, the front desk people (both at check in and check out) were friendly and truly acted like they were happy to see a Southwest crew. The bartender/waiter was extremely friendly. My salmon caesar salad was excellent. The Christmas decorations were beautiful. BUT, the bed was like a cloud. I like a lot of hotels but if the beds and pillows aren't good, I wouldn't stay there on my personal time. I have to say that I think this is the most comfortable night's sleep I've ever had in a hotel. Both the mattress and pillows were comfortable, and the comforter was warm but not heavy. I have already told several flight attendants about this hotel (and 2 of them got to go there last night during our irregular operations due to severe winter weather delays and cancellations). Thank you to the Crowne Plaza at Milpita staff for making my New Years' Eve night and New Years Day great even though I had to work. I will definitely be back! 04 January 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by First Timer This place was more than I expected. Staff is very friendly and courteous. My room was clean and spacious. Not much selection with the T.V. channels though. Would recomend this to anyone who is planning on staying in the South Bay. I will definitely be staying here the next time I come back. 01 January 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice hotel This is the first time we stayed in this hotel, and we are truly impressed with its general atmosphere. Our 12th floor rooms were very nice, clean and with comfortable beds. The work table was suitable for doing some work with enough electrical outlets. Unfortunately, we were not able to take advantage of the free continental breakfast since we did not have time to sit down in the restaurant. 01 January 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Loved it! My wife and I were there for only one night but were very impressed. Clean, neat, tasteful, comfortable room with most or all normal conveniences. Comfortable bed that did not transmit the other person's movements. Very quiet. Fast elevators. Good view from the top floor. Equally wonderful was the location in a mall given over mostly to Chinese eateries and super store. There were other eateries too. Not too far off from major freeways, though navigating there at night was a bit tricky. I was not able to get the thermostat to go below 71 (for sleeping), but that was not a big inconvenience. Had we stayed there longer the problem could probably have been solved. We plan to stay there again if we pass though that area. 30 December 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great loc This is the 3rd time I have stayed at this property and I can count on it to be clean and comfortable. The only criticism I have this time is that my wife and I like your ppv movies and the tv in our room did not have the best picture. I guess it's the luck of the draw sometimes. 18 December 2013
