This is a great place to stay. Not far from the beach and Old Town area. Has a complimentary ride to Old Town and Fashion Valley Mall. Staff is more than helpful. Only negative is they have recently canceled a happy hour in Sushi Bar. Sushi was excellent!

Needs a Makover

club

I booked this hotel based on a co-worker recommendation, not being mindful that folks have different opinions on what makes a great stay. Even though rooms were non-smoking, the grounds are not. There were ashcans located in every direction to my room with the accompanying cigarette stench; some were overflowing, as well as the trash can in the entry way to my building that had trash and cigarettes on the ground. There were cigarette butts on the ground throughout the property. Parking is horrible. Stalls are too small. This hotel appears to be a favorite among contractors, and their large trucks sometimes occupy 2 stalls. The complimentary dinner was marred by having to hold my breathe and march through the shroud of smoke from the smokers outside of the banquet facility. It is an old property and despite their best attempts to keep it looking nice, the wear and tear is obvious. The elevators look like freight elevators with the dents and scratches; one had missing/broken overhead light fixtures. Despite the bad above, the room was clean and comfortable. It was fairly quiet when folks weren't carrying on conversations from the balcony on the third floor to the fellow on the ground! The staff was very professional and attentive. The complimentary meals, sushi bar and happy hour were a big hit with this clientele. I wasn't able to fully appreciate the lush tropical ambience because of the other shortcomings.
