We had very helpful and friendly staff on our visit, however a significant portion of the hotel was being remodeled during our stay. Overall a great experience, and we would stay there again.

Great room, poor breakfast

Room was great, but breakfast the middle morning of my stay was awful.
No buffet that day, don't know why.
A la carte oatmeal was about 4 spoonfuls as a serving. There was no fresh fruit or anything healthy on offer.
Other 2 days the buffet was pretty good and our server David was fantastic. Still, a choice between high fructose corn syrup apple jelly and peanut butter to put on my toast was weird and disappointing.

Good, but . . .

We attended an annual event that draws hundreds of people from far away places. The entire hotel (of most of it) is reserved in advance and guaranteed by the event promoter. We stood in lines in the cafeteria for several meal times and experienced very slow wait staff service due to lack of staff, according to one of the staff. This event occurs every year and we could not understand why management would not anticipate the large annual attendance and plan their staffing accordingly. Building renovations were also in progress during one of the coldest times of the year leaving the hallways and doorways much colder than we expected too. This is a nice hotel with friendly people though and these issues will not keep us from staying there again.

Renovation timing was awful

BGFC has been our favorite outing for several years, primarily because we parked and unpacked and had nothing more to do than just ENJOY it all for a nice weekend. Not so this recent visit. I am partially handicapped and neither of us is a youngster, so all the walking due to the music hall change and the necessity to go outdoors to get there was totally unacceptable. The promised shuttle was rarely to be seen. The food quality was nowhere close to past visits, and the staff was shorthanded. The flood in main corridor caused us to go outside in brutal weather and walk all way round from tower to temporary entrance. A broken elevator in the tower required me to walk up a steep flight of stairs one afternoon. Whatever were you thinking to tear up that lovely facility during that kind of weather with that many people expected? I certainly hope it will be back to normal for next year's BGFC.
