The gentleman at the front desk was rude and degrading when I asked simple question about checking in and checking out. So much for Southern hospitality! The rooms weren't very nice either.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by ArmyDaughter Not a good property for wheelchair-bound customers
The hotel was beautiful and was great for someone with mobility. However, handicapped persons are "relegated" to one specific area of the hotel, and the rooms were not properly identified. I reserved a room with a roll-in shower, and we were given a room with a tub. Then, after moving rooms, we found that the elevator to go up from the first floor to the third floor where the lobby was located (along with most amenities) was almost impossible to fit into, and you could not turn someone in a wheelchair around in either. It was very disappointing for my Mom who was terminally ill and taking a very difficult trip to the last state in the country she had not been in. Sad, because I had to go to another property that had better accommodations for disabled, wheelchair-bound people. Thankfully the other property was better laid out, much more accommodating, and our trip was saved from disaster.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CBrew Beautiful property with everything you need.
First time staying at this property and was pleasantly surprised. I stay in hotels in just about every state and on occasion with another company. This hotel was a great place to stay. I was impressed enough that I want to take my wife and daughters for a couple days and expereince everything Asheville has to offer with Biltmore on the list. Front desk made me fill important due to my priority club status. Room was very large and had a nice balconing just to bad it was cool when I was there. Very nice amenities to keep the whole family busy if your working during the day. Great sports bar with pretty good food and friendly staff.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pat1999 Somewhat Disappointing
The room was nice, but nothing spectacular, usually Crowne Plaza has more "wow" factor- particularly since I received a complimentary upgrade due to my Priority Club status. I was more disappointed with the restaurant food and ambience. I was anticipating a great restaurant (after all Asheville is at the forefront of the "farm to table" movement). The breakfast was so-so, the breakfast area very noisy, and the two dinners I had were also mediocre. I am a single female business traveler, which makes for solitary style dining apparently- despite empty larger tables in the main area, I was isolated to an elevated area off to the side both nights to relish my meal looking at the side of the fireplace or the back wall. Both nights the meals were slow to come, awkwardly paced and absolutely nothing exciting except for the hot, light textured yeast rolls. I would take the offer of help with baggage at check in next time- the property is strangely situated and it was quite a hike to the elevator.

I have stayed at the Crowne Plaza Asheville 3 times over the past month and a half. My stay was extremely comfortable. The food was very good and reasonably priced, accomodations were great and the staff was very attentive to my needs, A special thanks to the senior bartender who recommended food from the menu and served fine drinks.

The only reason we chose this hotel was because they accept dogs for $25.
Overpriced hotel, unfriendly check-in person, cold and very outdated room. Comfortable bed!
Check-in person refused to give us 4 breakfast tickets even though our reservations included breakfast and we had made reservations for 2 adults 2 children! Luckily the waitress at breakfast was more understanding - thank you!
Breakfast buffe not impressive.
Just not worth the money.

Had reservations and got stuck in a snow storm. We were refunded without any problem. Staff was very polite and understanding. Made reservations on our trip home. Very happy with the staff. Could not find one thing that was not clean in the room. I am someone that is very picky about how clean a place is. Very statisfied. Kudos to the housekeeping staff and Lori the manager in Asheville, NC.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DeeMTL Staff that warms your heart!
Hotels get refreshed every once in a while and a brand new space is always fun, but few things can improve the experience you have at a property more than the spirit of the team that works there. The team at CPAsheville go the extra mile to make my every presence at this property a memorable one, which is no small task given my sometimes admittedly wacky requests!

The Crown Plaza in Asheville is good value for money and the property is nicely maintained. The staff were helpful and welcoming and the hotel suited our needs. We stayed one night in an Executive King room which was very spacious, clean and in a good state of repair.
The only complaint was that the room was a bit noisy during a heavy rain with the sound of rain hitting the roof above the bed.

Charming hotel. Pictures make it look like a bigger hotel in downtown Asheville. It is not downtown, not within walking distace but they have a shuttle that will take you and pick you up. About a 5 minute drive to get downtown. Close to the Biltmore Estate. Nice clean and up to date rooms, If you are looking for a 4/5 star hotel this is not it, but a great value for a very comfortable, clean and nice place for the price.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Jared555 Great hotel, just don't get swindled into the laundry.
Some bad communication between our travel guy and the front desk led to getting a crazy hefty and unexpected laundry bill, lot of rage because of that. Otherwise the hotel was great, plus the spa and big gym are right down the hill.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by ncdoc Not the quality I expected
When a hotel is called a resort I expect some quality of activities. I understood they had access to a nice gym with an indoor pool and hottub. Thursday night we went at 9 PM, only to find it had just closed at 9. Friday night we went at 8:30 PM, only to find it closed at 8 on Fridays. This is not the quality I expected. The ice machine did not work. The bed was pretty good, but the covers were very heavy blankets. We like a cool room with warm blankets, but these heavy things were too heavy to double up on top of you. It was clean but dated. The television had far less channels than the hotel directory showed. Not what I had hoped for.

I am a UNC Asheville parent who stays here every time I come to visit! This hotel has everything I need. It offers on site dining in very nice pub and morning dining room, when I am tired after the 10 hour long drive into Asheville,! I enjoy the walking trails, spa services, balcony views, and friendly staff. Next time I will bring my tennis racquet and golf clubs! Enjoy!

Room (495) was damp and musty like it had been closed up for several days. Mattresses were TERRIBLE - in desperate need of replacement. No hot water - barely lukewarm. After complaining the next morning the manager gave us free breakfast buffet coupons but the wait in the waffle and omelet line was >20 minutes! Advertised indoor pool on website but the pool is actually offsite at the Asheville Raquet Club and it closed at 8PM. We went to the pool anyway only to find they were out of towels! This place is bad - I will never stay there again.

The issues I see are the lack of restrooms on the lobby floor and followup with requests for support in the rooms for meeting use. Also the second floor ramp to rm 240 for transporting luggage is not and acceptable situation. You should consider better accessibility for those who may be handicapped or elderly.

The staff at the Crowne Plaza were very helpful. Our room had a loud buzzing and we were moved to another room. Unfortunately that room also had some strange noise also. We greatly appreciated the response of the staff. Additionally, our shuttle driver was friendly and engaging. The people made up for the strange room noises!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by thumpertattoo Great Pictures But Smoke and Mirrors.
When i arrived at this hotel i was dissapointed to see that the pictures on the website made this hotel seem much more attractive then it really was. The room was as decent. The bathroom on the otherhand was horrible. I am a larger man not huge but larger. I felt cramped in this bathroom and sitting in the tub forget about that happening. I was staying in a deluxe room yet the bathroom was at best mediocre. I decided to walk the grounds only to find there was nothing to see or really do unless you played golf or tennis. This location has a indoor pool available if you walk to another location and if you are within the small window to swim. There is a beautiful Picture of a fireplace at this location. I saw this and thought yes that is where i will propose. Unfrotunantly what the pic does not explain is this fireplace is in a restaurant. Most all of the pics used to showcase this location are cropped and or photoshopped to make it look much more exstravagant then it really is. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, The bed slept well but overall this location failed to be what it was shown to be. It is basically a average hotel with a few pretty things thrown in like a fireplace or decoration. I feel this is a great disservice to the patrons that book this place thinking they are going to a really gorgeous retreat, only to find a walking trail of hard concreate with no discerning features on the grounds.
The staff was great. The service was great. The hotel lacked horribly in living up to the pictures. I will not be staying in this location again. It was a waste of my points to book here. The hotel has nice conference areas but due to this experience i would not book a fuction here for fear of embarassment when they went to the bathrooms in there rooms later. One last thing balconys are nice but not so much when there is no view other then concrete. I was there to propose and she said yes but it was a embarassment after i had told her we were going somewhere gorgeous. The moment i proposed i want to always remember. The hotel i would rather forget.

It's like a high-end motel. Not what I was expecting. Walls are super thin. I can hear conversations in the next room. The bartender was running back-and-forth to the kitchen. He needed help running the food. Not easy to fine the place. Good thing they have signs off the road. Nice shuttle service to downtown. I'll stay downtown next time.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Orator1 Excellent facility, quite, comfortable; Friendly staff and service
This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel and my experience each time has been tremendous. The facility is clean, the staff friendly and helpful. The rooms are quiet and comfortable. The beds are the most comfortable beds that I have ever slept in.
The hotel has a very nice athletic club and golf course. It has an excellent breakfast buffet. It is approximately a five minute drive from downtown Asheville, approximately a 15 minute drive to the entrance of Biltmore. Chimney Rock State Park is approximately 20 miles from hotel, and if you are into backpacking, it's a must see.
My overall experience is extremely good -- I will not hesitate to stay at the hotel again when visiting Asheville, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Asheville area.

Crown Plaza Asheville is a very nice looking facility and the beds are very comfortable, however the staff were overwhelmed the weekend we were there. Many guests had to wait for service at the front desk, the lounge, the dining room and at breakfast. The dinner was OK but not the best I've had and the breakfast (eggs benedict) was awful (soggy, wet english muffin and strange tasting hollandaise sauce).

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Jim42 comfortable bed no gify shop
it started out bad when I tried to get a drink from the vending machine which was totally empty, and it would not return the money deposited. I went to the front desk and got the refund, alas when I asked for the location of the gift shop they did not have one. I have been in many different Crowne Plazas, but not one did not have a gift shop.
THe breakfast was another disaster. Who ever heard of plastic on the table top covering unironed table cloths.Every time you cut your food the plates slide. I was afraid I would have it on my lap before I finished. Is this a college dormitory or what!
The care they took for their evening dining should have been carried over to breakfast. Breakfast is the first meal of the day, and sets the tempo for the rest of the day.

Rooms were fine. Restaurant on site is fine. Many guest services are offsite (nearby down the hill) with an additional cost. Would be nice to have a small store for snacks or reading material. So, as a full service hotel, its pretty average. Useful if you're there for a conference. I would not stay there though if I was on vacation.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by BobandSusan Enjoyable Stay
We had stayed previously and came back because the rooms were nice and the hotel is dog friendly.
The hotel was fully booked (4 wedding parties) and check-in was a little slow but friendly. The room doors don't seal tightly so there is quite a bit of noise heard from the hallway. Unfortunately, a number of people on our corridor returned late, and inebriated, to their rooms and had loud conversations before their doors finally slammed shut. The doors close loudly even though they don't seal tightly. This prevented a restful night's sleep.
Room and corridor doors were difficult to open. Older and younger guests really have to struggle with them.
The lobby and dining areas are very attractive. The guest rooms nice but nothing special. We found a very nice dog sitter, Protect the Precious, through the concierge.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by TravelingPair Above Average Restaurant and good service
Our first night we ate dinner at the hotel restaurant. We were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the menu and the food itself. Definitely better than most comparable hotel restaurants and comparable to a destination restaurant.
The second night we ate in the bar, where the menu was more on the casual side. The burger I had was one of the best I have had for a long time.
The breakfast buffet was a great value and above average quality. The omelet and waffle station provide fresh, well-cooked options that were gratefully appreciated. A final plus was the extended hours of the buffet. Of course they have a la carte breakfast menu as well.
We did have an issue with a lamp in the room. One bulb burned out and then the switch stopped working. It was fixed and in working order within 15 minutes of our call to the front desk. Good response time.
Great location and choice for a trip to the Asheville area.
