So much potential, but not there yet.

This Crown Plaza location has been a frequent location for us when we need a night away. The Asheville area is always fun for a short get away.

The last time we visited the hotel we noticed that the hotel was showing it's age and we did not come last year due to renovations. We came this year expecting a refreshed and renewed experience. The website and agent we used to book both lead us to believe that the renovations were complete. Should have called.

The room was spacious and comfortable but had a parking lot view from the balcony. You could see the downtown area which was nice. The staff did everything they could to make our special occasion nice but the with all the closed areas and parking lot lay down areas it really was great. The food served here is always good and it was again but they were using a conf room as a dining room and it wasn't very fast and the staff had to work themselves to death to do simple things like coffee refills or to get a special request.

Hopefully the disruptions will be over soon and this will again be a nice location to rest and clear your mind.

Good Choice overall

I made this reservation online for only one night and Crowne Plaza seemed to fit the bill in many respects. It was a fair price, it seemed clean, it allowed pets (we were traveling with a lovable, quiet Lab), and it was centrally located to where we wanted to go. As an added bonus, we were able to use the shuttle service ,$10 for two round trip. That was a great perk as we wanted to go into Asheville for dinner and drinks and did not want to drive. So on all those fronts this hotel was great. The hotel is your basic traveling hotel with a few added perks, the other being the size of the room which was great as we had a large crate for our dog.

The only downside was the front desk staff. Generally helpful, but they were very curt and abrupt on the phone. Virtually hanging up on you before you had a chance to either ask another question or say thank you and goodbye. Either they are understaffed and overworked, or they need a bit of customer service training. Also be aware they are undergoing some renovation. Ask before you book for room location.

All in all, I would recommend this hotel and I would go back again.

Crowne remodel right on

My recent visit was met with a pleasant surprise as I arrived in the very nice remodeled king room. The bed was awesome comfortable, and the new furniture very nice. The hotel construction was not a bother, especially knowing it will be a nice place on my regular visits to Asheville. I stayed for a week back in December and also enjoyed my stay. The staff is very friendly. The bathroom vanity area is nicely done as well. Liked the new HD LG TV too. Job well done.

Disappointment (Construction)

Birthday Weekend Celebration
Very disappointed that they were under construction. Did not know this when we booked the hotel. Did not specify this on their website. Part of the draw to this hotel was the lobby area with the bar and it was all torn up. Did not use any of the hotel amenities other than the room.
