Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location, nice rooms I like the location of this hotel and my room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. My friend and I were confronted with rather abrupt service when we checked-in. The service person was only concerned with trying to get us both to upgrade our rooms. A calmer check-in would be appreciated next time. When there is an event on in the ballroom, it can take 15-20 minutes to get an elevator. The U-Town shopping mall has some great shops. May 22, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by need improvements on cutomer's preference management it was not good experience at all. The environment (e.g. decoration, facilities...) was good, but for the persepective of service, IHG need improvements (especailly for Holiday brands). e.g. for severail times, I stayed at Holiday Hotel (Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn..etc.), I repeated that I didn't accept side rooms (the rooms at the very edge of the floor.. or at the corner of the floor). However, it seems that these perference information has never be shared among the Holiday hotels. That's too bad. This time I stayed at U-Town, the same thing happened. I was too tired to complain with the hotel. it was disappointing. May 12, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by staff needs a refresher course on customer service. Being a Priority Club member I prefer to stay at IHG hotels when in China. I stayed here for 4 nights. The location is acceptable, taxis are a bit difficult to find, your best best is the subway which is within walking distance. The hotel is also attached U-town mall and surrounded by a number of restaurnts and bakeries which is a huge plus for me. The hotel itself seemed fairly new, rooms were roomy and clean. Bathrooms were definitely big for China standards. Breakfast was nothing special, you have your usual western foods and a mix of Chinese staples. The gymnasium I would have to say is much nicer than most other CP's I've stayed at. Located on the 6th floor you get a view of the surrounding neighborhood, there was a 25 pool and a number of cardio, and weight machines, including a separete aerobics room. The concierge definitely needs to work on thier customer service. He was unattentive and just rude. I wanted to find out what was the best way to go to the Summer Palace and he was doing something at his desk and did not acknowlege me at all. All he said was "just get a taxi". This is the first and last time I will stay at this hotel. This was definitely a dissapointing stay. May 6, 2013
May 6, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by No Air conditioning in the room I stayed at the hotel in April, there was no air conditioning in the room, even though hotel staff offered me a fan, it was still a really bad experience. Should have told me upon check-in. No free wifi in the room, difficult for business travelers. Good location. May 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent service! Excellent service in front desk and concierge! I will take my family come back for sure. April 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Centrally located, helpful staff, and reasonable rate. This is the second time I stayed at this property, aside from having to pay the 80 RMB for internet usage, the location is prime, close to CBD, Sanlitun, and workers stadium. Facilities are new and hotel staffs are very nice and helpful. They even gave me some drink vouchers without asking for them. Thumbs Up!! April 7, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Left Dirty Bedsheets in my room - disgusting! I am a Platinum member, and I have always stayed at Crowne Plaza U-Town when I visit Beijing. In the first 3 months of 2013, I have stayed 6 nights and another 3 nights for my colleague. So I consider myself a loyal customer of your group and your hotel. Unfortunately, when I arrived at your hotel, I had a very upset stomach, which is very common for visitors to China from overseas. Unfortunately, I dirtied the bedsheets. The stain is totally organic, and could've been washed with bleach. When it happened in my own home, I was able to wash the sheet without any trouble. However, instead of washing the bedsheet properly, they LEFT THE DIRTY BEDSHEET in my bedroom FOR THE ENTIRE DURATION OF MY STAY. THe bedsheet is dirty, and it was left in my room the whole time! That is absolutely disgusting. And to make things worse, when I check out, your hotel tried to charge me for it! I absolutely refused to pay as the stain is organic, and can easily be washed. The fact that your hotel cleaning staff left it in the room for 3 days could've made something washable into unwashable. Furthermore, your hotel should compensate me for staying with the dirty bedsheet for my entire stay! Lastly, I was really upset that as a loyal Platinum member, you would not allow me access to the Club Lounge, nor access to the Breakfast area. April 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by First Timer, this is a Great Start to Beijing As IHG group member this hotel is great, with excellent location. Will stay again in the same hotel. February 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Could NOT Ask for More I usually stay at the CP Sun Palace; however, they had a conference and did not have the room available that I desired. I read the reviews for other Crowne Plaza locations in Beijing. Initially I was concerned with this location as not all reviews are favorable and several had specific gripes with the Chaoyang U-Town location. I emailed the GM, Mr. Travers before making my reservation. He assured me that there would be no problems with this hotel and I then proceeded to make my reservation. I stayed for a week in January of 2013 and was careful to observe everything so as to give a thorough evaluation of this property. I am an IHG Ambassador Platinum Elite member which allows for various upgrades and expectations on my part. Here is the review: The Great: I took a taxi from the PEK airport (RMB 88) around 6:30 p.m. Upon arrival I was met by two young men standing outside in frigid temps eager and willing to help with my luggage. As soon as I walked into the lobby I was impressed with its cleanliness. I was third in line and one of the desk receptionists asked how they could help me. I said I was Mr. so-and-so and they immediately said that my room was ready and thanked me for staying at their hotel. There was a warmness and appreciation demonstrated by everyone during the check-in process. As I was completing this process, Mr. Travers came over and introduced himself. He gave me his card and told me to call him if I needed anything... quite impressive! The elevators are right behind the check-in desk and off to the 19th floor I went. Concierge handled my luggage and actually made it to my room before I did. Upon arrival to room 1935, I was immediately impressed. The room had a very comfortable king-size bed. It was a corner room so I had an additional benefit of being able to look out the windows from two different directions. The room had everything I needed: safe, iron, ironing board, computer/work desk, coffee maker, refrigerator with drinks, hair dryer, shoe horn, robe, slippers, etc. The toilet area was separate from the shower/tub area. There were two sinks in the room which would have facilitated two people getting ready rather nicely. There was a couch and office chair. The lighting was able to be adjusted to my preference with a dimmer switch. I want to add that the bed was incredibly comfortable. I slept quite well all week. Having traveled for almost 20 hours, I changed clothes and headed down to the gym / work-out area on the 6th floor. For a hotel, I was quite impressed with all of the equipment and free weights. What I liked even more was how large the work-out room was... it was not crammed into a small room. There was plenty of space to move about. Towels and water were both available in the work-out facility. Also, the shower area contained both a sauna and steam room. Towels, soap, shampoo, hair dryer were all available in the locker room. There was a large and very nice looking pool that looked inviting but I did not go swimming. The next morning I went up to the 20th floor for breakfast. It was very good. There were only a couple of other people so it was very quiet and intimate. I made four copies from my emails while in the Club Lounge and was not charged! Please note: the other mornings I ate breakfast on the 6th floor (Cafe on the 6th) and it was FANTASTIC. This hotel has one of the best breakfast offerings for any Crowne Plaza that I have ever stayed. Don't miss breakfast if you stay here. Apparently lots of other people also enjoy this CP breakfast for the eating area was very full every morning. If given a choice, eat on the 6th floor, not the 20th, as there really is a world of difference. The Club Lounge on the 20th just offers the basics for breakfast while the Cafe on the 6th offers a wide array of food, drinks, and desserts. Attached to this hotel is the U-Town Mall. There are several floors with many stores you have never heard of; however, there is an H&M. In walking in different stores, the prices are very steep and you can find anything cheaper in the US. The area was well-lit and wide open and very inviting. The mall was a great place to walk as the temps outside were below freezing. As far as eating, there is a Sizzler in the U-Town and it was quite delicious with a salad bar. The steak and chicken combo meal was fixed perfectly. There is a Burger King and Starbucks attached to this U-Town mall. I read the reviews on the German restaurant attached to this hotel and therefore I did not try it. I did notice that not many other people were eating at this restaurant either. They should move the Sizzler to the location of the German restaurant. Other Tidbits: Outside the hotel within easy walking distance is another Starbucks, two Pizza Hut's, a Wal Mart, a McDonalds, and an Office Supply store. The Bank of Beijing is direcly across the street and will exchange money without a service charge. You exchanged money on the second floor. However, the exchange rate was a deplorable 6.109. The subway station is an 8-10 minute walk... exit the front doors of the hotel and turn Left. At the first street turn Right. At the next street (a main street) turn Left and you will see the entrance to the station just across the bridge on the Left hand side. It is only RMB 2 to take a ride on the subway. The Pizza Hut next to the Wal Mart is closer and was quite delicious. Service was a little slow but the restaurant was very clean. The Wal Mart is primarily a grocery store with few other offerings as one might think when they hear the word Wal Mart. Across the street from the CP is a large Russian market, Alien's Street. It was not clean! I did not find anything I needed at this market. I will write a separate review on this shopping experience. As far as the location of this CP, there were always taxis available. I never waited more than one minute for a taxi. This location is perfect for any business or touring you have scheduled in the Wangfujing to Silk Market areas. The Silk Market is only 1.2 miles from the hotel. It is a very easy walk and an enjoyable walk if you don't mind exercise. The Yashow Market is probably too far for most to walk and is only RMB 10 by taxi. I walked to Yashow and enjoyed all of the sights, sounds, and smells even though it was around 18 degrees when I walked. For a Platinum member there are numerous benefits to staying in this hotel: upgraded room, complimentary breakfast, complimentary afternoon tea, complimentary soft drinks in your room, complimentary laundry up to RMB 100 per day, daily newspaper, free Internet in the room, and extended check-out (up to 4:00 p.m.). The Bad: There is nothing that I can say that during the course of a week long stay that was bad. I completely enjoyed interacting with the employees of this hotel. They were friendly and willing to help. There are only two minor issues: The shower is right next to the tub and therefore when you shower, everything gets wet. This is unusual for me. It would be nice if the hotel put a curtain between the shower and tub since they are separate so that everything does not get soaked during the course of a shower. Another oddity was that there was no place to hang your towel in the bathroom other than over the tub. You would walk over everything that was wet and lean over a wet tub to hang your towel. I decided to just use the handle on the shower door. For two people in a room this might have been a bigger inconvenience. The only other comment that would be mildly irritating and I read this in other reviews and found it to be true - the service by the staff at Cafe on the 6th was slow and not very responsive every morning. I had to ask for a drink and for a refill and then noticed that everyone else had to as well. Someone needs to train the staff at this Cafe to be more responsive. However, the breakfast was so good that I cannot allow this minor incovenience to take away from my positive experience. If this is all that I can find wrong, then it was a pretty good stay. I highly recommend this hotel! January 31, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Details needs to be improved We are having our management meeting in the hotel and the overall experience is good. However, few things really need to be improved. a) The bathroom - The water temperature is quite instable, hot/cold water did not seem to be mixed well. The overhead shower facility did not work well and this was the most disappointed experience in Room 909. The paint even falled down while using overhead shower and you can even smell the paint is quite fresh. And then the paint almost blocked the drain. b) Service details. - I forgot Ties in the room but there was not a proactive contact from room service. This was my bad but also could be improved a lot from training to reduce the "lost and found" cases. Cheers, Andy January 18, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Brand new hotel, but getting worse as the day goes by Been here three times since 2012. A friend recommended and say that it was a new hotel. We do business regularly in China and therefore we stay at a hotel for quite a number of nights. First time was in July - August 2012, then December 2012 and later January 2013. Each time we arrive, new staffs are appointed (especially their partnership managers are always changing) - it seems that staff working there are not happy and this affects the way the handle us (their customers). Pro (s): Very clean room, because the hotel is new most of the in-room amenities are good - but it is clear tehy are deteriorating (unless maintenance is scheduled later). Great bed to sleep in - one of the best things about Crown Plaza is their beds and pillows. Good concierge service (look for Mr Gao) very helpful person. Great gym. Con(s)Very poor in-room dining menu. Breakfast is also very poor . Loby drinks selection needs to be improved, especially wine selection. Cards are always not working and require customer to go back to front desk to have it reactivated - really troublesome. Needs to improve on booking process - we call and emailed the hotel, but upon arrival they've got all the detail wrong. In fact we emailed and contacted one of the managers before we arrive, yet he still got it all wrong and therefore our check-in process was really slow. However some staff are very helpful such as Sarah and Gina. Business Lounge offers very limited support/computers are slow/ etc. Very poor wireless connectivity in room! Rates for 2013 are extremely expensive and therefore I don't think it is worth it anymore. January 11, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfort Perfected My families recent stay was relaxing and enjoyable. I always check the reviews before staying in a hotel I have not visited before but still have reservations as to the opinions of others. After our stay at Beijing Chaoyang, U-Town Crown Plaza Hotel, I am pleased to say that the over all experience was amazing. From the friendly, helpful staff, to the perfect nights sleep in one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in, I would recommend this hotel to anyone whether for business or pleasure. Thank you to Crown Plaza for their superb service and I look forward to my next stay at your hotel. Elizabeth December 17, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Unlucky experience I was traveling from Tianjin to Beijing, when I arrive, I was willing to pay extra 50% on laundry service. However, due to Hotel's laundry service is under-going upgrade, the express service is stopped. Second thing is the hotel arranged a Auction in the meeting room, That's block all the rate to Gym and Swimming pool, Hotel guests have to by pass another way to the swimming pool, that is extremely inconvenient. Generally speaking, this hotel is very good, I have stayed since the very beginning even the hotel is still undergo renovation. I hope the management can improve their way of working even I understand that the meeting / exhibition is super profitable compare to hotel room, that would give bad impression to your long term customer. December 3, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Air Conditioning The overall experience was great, this being our fourth stay at this hotel in the past few years. However, we found it it irritable not to be able to adjust the room temperature from was tset at a torrid 24.5 C Complaint to the front desk did not yield any changes for the rest of our 5 day stay. We were told that the temperature was set in the central system, and other than opening the windows, nothing could be done to lower the temperature. We had to resolve in doing so but of course have to endure the street noise from below. I suggest something should be done about the room temperature to avoid further discomfort to your clients. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Hotel, disappointing staff This is a beautiful, clean hotel. I do have to say the check in process was VERY disappointing. First I booked this hotel online because it said it had a shuttle to the airport, big fat lie, it is non-existant. Second we were NEVER recoqnised as Platinum P/Club members. Usually we get free welcome drink - non was given. Also the package I booked said up to 2 free beers at the German Restaurant, it was not given until I asked for it, in fact the girl did not know the restaurant existed even though it was just around the corner. After all that, I have to say the hotel is beautiful and very clean. Our room was gorgeous, no complaints there. A brand new Mall attached to the hotel makes for good shopping and also a Walmart within walking distance. Very disappointed but I would still recommencond this location because staff can be trained and website updated! November 28, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service and a great manager. I checked out of this hotel very early in the morning and accidentally left my passport in my room. I didn't realize this until I was checking in at the Beijing Airport. I immediately called the hotel and spoke to Richard who was the manager on duty. He sent someone to my room to get the passport and had the concierge personally deliver my passport to the airline check-in counter where I was waiting. Great service!!! November 20, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Almost as like home Warm welcome, very good room and very good ligthing. The requests I had prior to arrival were dealt with. Very good service and breakfast at the executive lounge. Location excellent - fairly easy to get to the airport and close to many good eating places There are always room for improvements like do not use juniors alone at check out, not possible to heat the room above 19 degrees and very slow internet at times. I will come back to this hotel the next time in Beijing November 20, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent gym and pool, good omelettes Top-notch gyms and pools are hard to find, but this hotel has just that. Even better, they are very little used. The omelettes at breakfast are the best I have found in Asia: light and fluffy, not the runny, soggy omelettes that many hotels serve. The location is convenient to the subway, a plus in a city with severe traffic jams. It was sometimes tough to find a taxi, but that is true all over Beijing these days. November 14, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by beautiful hotel with superb fitness center and lap pool very nice hotel, i would recommend it for any business traveler and especially those who are into fitness and swimming. a great gym with weights, cardio machines, and lots of open space. and lots of windows. very unique but good to have: a 25 meter lap pool! the gym and pool opened at 5:30am (early by Asia standards) and stayed open late.
