Valley Café cooking staffs stunningly lazy

04 May 2015

I have stayed at this hotel many times. The location, cleanness and overall experience have been good. The main issue with this hotel is its breakfast service, in particular its cooking staffs. And I noticed the quality is further deteriorating lately.

A few examples in my recent stays: Valley Cafe opens at 6:30 am. However, you have to wait until 7:30 when all cooks are at work, and most foods are ready. When you order a noodle, most of time you have to find the cook by yourself, and he is so reluctant to serve his customer that he will do as little as possible. For example, there are three kinds of sauces for the noodle, the meat one has to be served by the cook. Therefore, he always push you to choose the other two self-serving sauces. Other real-time cooking foods have similar situation - Most of the food baskets are empty most of the time. There are many cooks, but they seemed to took their time, do not care about their jobs.

This hotel is overall good, but Valley Cafe clearly needs to improve its management.

Better than expected in Beijing

04 May 2015

The hotel is a bit limited in their capacity for helping you out in English, but all in all the service was good, and the hotel a bit better than I had imagined it was going to be. The lounge, however is most mediocre, and I would recommend only ordering the most simple of cocktails (such as gin and tonic) or else you may find yourself sipping a very weird concoction indeed!
The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and I really like that there is a separated walk - in closet that you can set your luggage in and put things away and close the door. There is a nice bench for sitting down to put your shoes on (or take them off) before you head out the door.
