We had an enjoyable stay at Crowne Plaza in Birmingham.
The most important thing, the room, was clean and decorated with class. No rooms where available at 5:30 pm when we arrived, so we were politely asked to wait for 15-30 minutes in the lobby. The service was good and we got few items that we needed to the room. The only weak point was the relatively high rate compared to similar hotels as well as the lack of breakfast in the room rate. However, we left pleased and will be happy to return again.

This was the second time we have stayed at the Crown Palaza in B'ham. We had such a wonderful experience the first time we stayed I did have reservations that the second time around things may not be so good. How wrong was I, the noise levels we very low, the room was immaculate and the whole feel of the hotel was calm and peaceful . Friendly staff and right in the heart of the city 10 out of 10.

Spent 3 nights in the Crowne Plaza and it proved to be a positive experience...hotel had spacious lobby, nice modern bar and dining area and comfortable room. Food was good too and staff were helpful without being intrusive. Overall we had a relaxing break in nice hotel in a good central location. So I am happy to recommend this hotel.

Great location for national indoor arena and the new library which is well worth the visit for views alone plus amazing interior .the hotel bar was well stocked and food was lovely the seating area's are very comfy the room was great especially the massive bed plus shower and bath which came in handy to soak my tired feet

Another fantastic stay at the Crowne Plaza and would have been perfect if it weren't for the lazy attitude of Ana on reception. I just asked for some decaf tea to be told that no, only decaf coffee is available in our rooms. I mentioned I'd had decaf tea with breakfast on a previous visit to then be told that they never had decaf tea bag and only loose tea so I could pay for a cup at the bar. So I had to explain again I'd already stayed at the hotel and had decaf tea...the conversation went on a lot longer than it should have! She eventually picked up the phone to the resturant where the lovely who has been there for many years brought over the box of decaf tea bags and asked me how many I wanted...perfect.
I have no idea why Ana didnt just do that in the first place rather than lying that the hotel 'never has decaf tea bags' on the hope I'd go away and she didn't have to bother herself, but her attitude and desire to argue with me left quite uncomfortable... She someone working on reception being doing everything they can to help customers, not the opposite

This was my second stay at this hotel. I suggested it to my friends whilst we stayed over. The only thing I would say is that if 3 are sharing a room make sure you have another bed for the third person. I was told I would have one but they had all gone.

Stayed one night on a stopover 9/11/13. Had to change rooms (from a pretty standard room) because of a plumbing problem; all they appeared to be able to find in this huge hotel was a room with a view of a derelict building and with an adjoining door to the next room. We were warned that there could be some noise, and there was; an hour of phone calls, door knocking and banging from 1.30 in the morning. On checkout, reception weren't interested. We were surprised not to be offered any sort of upgrade as a Platinum member and, quite frankly, found the room very disappointing. Parking is expensive in a grotty multi-storey, much of which is out of use because it leaks water onto cars; we were given the option of paying for this at checkout rather than at the machine and were overcharged. Breakfast is no better than Holiday Inn standard. No teletext on our tv. On the plus side, beds were super comfy, reception and bar area modern and bright, room and bathroom clean. Wouldn't rush to stay again.

Just a shame about the view! I stayed in a room at the rear of the hotel which over looked a disused and rundown office block. Nothing to do with the hotel I know, but it did mean that I kept the curtains closed the whole time I was in my room. Inside the hotel is clean, warm and has a very modern feel to it. The room I stayed in was clean with a MASSIVE bed which was very comfortable. Overall a nice stay.

Had an awful night here. It was my birthday and it was completely ruined as after a meal at the nearby mailbox and going to bed about 12.30pm we were rudely awakened at 2pm by rowdy party goers and this continued on and off until 6am - with drunken men & women going in and out of the rooms near to us, shouting down the corridors and just soon as one lot stopped and we got back to sleep another would start. By the morning we were both exhausted and I was too tired to enjoy the breakfast (however it was very good according to my husband) I did report this in the morning and we were given free parking to compensate however we have two children one of whom is disabled and so get very little respite and unfortunately this was a much needed, (but missed) opportunity to have some time to relax. Hotel was nice and staff welcoming and friendly but the noise was just too much!

This is the second time we have stayed at the Crowne Plaza and on both occasions we have been happy with our stay and feel it is good value for money.
Staff are friendly and helpful and very polite, not only on the reception but in all areas.
We would recommend and would also stay again.

The hotel has an excellent location, a welcoming front desk and friendly atmosphere.
My partner and I stayed in one of the Club Room Doubles on the 11th floor. The room was clean and tidy, had a decent view over the City, contemporary decor and the usual trimmings for a hotel of this price range. The Club Lounge was a nice touch, an added extra to go and relax after a busy day in the City.
Overall, couldn't fault the staff and the hotel. It was a very enjoyable experience.
The only negative would be parking. For a hotel of this size and stature, you'd hope that the underground parking would be free to its guests. At £13.50 for 24hrs it would workout expensive for longer stays, if taking the car.
I would definitely recommend the hotel to family and friends wanting to visit Birmingham.

We had booked a girly catch up as it had been a long time. I was 6 months pregnant with another little one at home and two others in my party had small children at home too, so we were looking forward to a good rest after a meal out, especially after seeing the comfy beds in our room. The staff were brilliant at supplying an ice bucket and toothpaste as we had forgotten them and everything was going well until....the neighbours arrived! We had an interconnecting door between us and next door and you could hear EVERYTHING. between 3am-4.30am they woke our entire room for ages moaning about someone in their group doing a runner. Reception were lovely and asked them to keep the noise down but they didn't until they flaked out after the while. We were going to say something on check out but we weren't asked if we had enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was great. i would book again but only if you specify a room WITHOUT an interconnecting door!

We came to Birmingham to watch our daughter compete in the Bupa half marathon & needed a place to stay overnight. We predominantly chose this hotel because it was close walking distance from Victoria Square but we were very pleasantly surprised to find that it was a great hotel, with good restaurant food & we thought it was great value for money. Will definitely stay here next time we visit Birmingham.

We arrived late afternoon and it was absolutely pouring down with rain. The porter came straight out to help us unload our car then directed my husband to the car park. The check-in staff were excellent and had upgraded us due to my husband's platinum status so we were informed we were on the 10th floor with access to the Executive Club Lounge for complimentary drinks and snacks. We had taken my mum and dad as a treat and they had never experienced anything like it before - they said they felt like royalty! The porter took our overnight bags to the rooms and provided us with local information about restaurants etc. - he was extremely friendly and helpful (from Portugal).
The rooms were very clean, the beds were massive and exceptionally comfortable and the bathroom was very clean - absoultely no faults at all.
Service in the executive lounge was also excellent and the staff were very attentive.
At check-out the staff were again very helpful providing us with information about the half marathon which was being held that day as it impacted on our travel route home.
I honestly cannot fault this hotel and would recommend without hesitation if you wanted a hotel which is ideally located for Birmingham centre.

I was ever so slightly disappointed by my Crowne Plaza experience and don't think I could recommend it to any of my colleagues or friends.
Arrival was dealt with reasonably ok. Request for internet acces codes over the phone was odd .... The guy on the desk wouldn't give me the codes and insisted on coming up to the tenth floor to provide me with a ticket that had the code on it. Seemed to be a waste of time.
The tv in the bedroom didn't work properly but as I was only staying one night I let that go. The wall in the sitting room was scuffed and dirty. One of the lights in the bedroom wouldn't switch off and the wall socket seemed slightly loose.
A call to order drinks as part of room service was treated with confusion - eventually being put through to the bar where. The guy answering didn't seem to have a clue bluntly. I think he may have kept trying to push "own brand" house champagne..... Hmmmmm
Overall nothing majorly wrong but just lots of little things that didn't enhance the experience and left me feeling like this was a very tired operation.

Great hotel, friendly staff and the room was excellent. Separate bath and shower cubicle. Kingsize bed + fridge and complimentary drinks. Continental breakfast was superb with lots to choose from. Be sure to stay on the 11th floor and you get to use the executive lounge.
Would definitely stay again.

thre hotel was lovely, but I was put on the 5 th floor cause I had my 2 kids with me, and was kept awake till late by a party going on in a couple of rooms round me, I was told the 5th floor is the family floor and all these people had slipped through the booking system and should not of been on this floor, it ruined my stay, and my kids never got to sleep till very late.

Absolutely fantastic hotel, loved every inch of the place. The room beat all expectations and the service was just as good. Will definitely be staying here again, made mine and my girlfriends anniversary all the more special. Think my only issue if anything was that the air conditioning couldn't be turned down lower than 18 Celsius but even that wasn't a huge problem.

This is an excellent hotel, only thing letting it down is the quality of the TV picture, on 2 separate occasions including a change of room (thanks) the quality still remained the same, fuzzy.
Bar this, comfortable and welcoming rooms, good friendly staff and decent buffet breakfast. Although dinner is expensive there is lots of great options in close proximity of its location, the gym is also extremely useful.
I would return a third time, however going to give indigo a whirl on my next trip.

Stayed as a couple. The room was in good order, nice size and clean and tidy - the good news ended there.
We returned to the hotel after attending a theatre nearby and went to the bar for a late drink. On ordering the drinks, the young lady asked for payment there and then, before even thinking of pouring the drinks- I refused and she seemed to get the message,
The fire alarm went off in the early hours of the morning and we proceeded to vacate our room on the sixth floor. However the alarm then stopped on the 6th floor, so we returned to our room.
We then noticed people gathering outside the front of the hotel and decided that it might be best to leave the room. Whilst moving down from the 6th floor on the emergency stairs, it became apparent that the fire alarms were still going off on the other floors - just as well we decided to move out !
After standing outside on a cold evening with no communication whatsoever from the hotel management, we were allowed back in- despite the fact that the alarms were still going on in the rooms for some considerable time.
I could go on about the lack of emergency lighting, the long queue for breakfast, eggs swimming in fat and then having to queue again to check out.
But no - it seems communication is not one of your strong points - you need to sharpen up your act !

Short stay at the hotel with clients just for a Saturday night. The check-in lady on arrival was outstanding, prompt, efficient and said all the right things 5* star! Room was very good with everything we needed and pillow change was efficiently handled. Pre-dinner drinks were not expensive and bar staff were good fun.
Unfortunately in the early hours a faulty Fire Alarm went off twice but this was handled quite effectively by hotel staff.
Breakfast although tasty and very good value if pre-paid was spoilt by slow clearing of tables, long wait for tea/coffee and refills. If service here was better would have rated a well earned 5* excellent.
Check out was a similar experience but there was some reluctance for compensation of a sleepless night, however this was resolved by a gesture and gratefully received.

Really liked the comfort of the room and all was well until the fire alarm went off early in the morning and I had to stand outside for over an hour without much information, when finally allowed back in still received little to no info. Other than that I would happily return because I doubt its an every day occurrence!

I recently stayed at this hotel, whilst attending an expo in the Birmingham Area. I really enjoyed the stay, however as can happen, we had a fire alarm which caused loss of sleep. (You cant help these things). I discussed the matter with the staff the next day and they, and their management, handled this situation as the professionals they are. Outstanding - thank you.
The stay was great. the Hotel and staff are excellent and the overall experience was well worth the value. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Should be more like it.

I've always found the Crowne Plaza Birmingham to be very professionally run location and whilst the bar service has not always been the most efficient...or quick....to often hiding around the wrong side, on this occassion it was well managed and run in a fast and friendly manner.
I didn't get an opportunity to use the premium rooms but as a platinum member you can always enjoy the 11th floor lounge which is always a bonus - the free breakfast is excellent but at the end of the week I find the temptation of a lazy breakfast downstairs too hard to refuse....it wouldbe nice if there was a beneficial rate in lieu of not using the free breakfast in the lounge but Iguess you can't have everything.
The centre of Birmingham is never easy to get to but it is worthwhile finding your way to this hotel.

The hotel is situated in the centre of Birmingham, very close to Broad Street and all the major shops.
On arrival the room was not ready so I was offered a free drink in the bar. This was a great way to relax.
The room did take longer to prepare. This was annoying however the manager dealt with it very efficiently and professionally.
The rest of the stay was very relaxing

This is the 2nd time I have stayed at this hotel.Excellent service,great ambience,everything looks new!Great location for exploring the city,is definately on my favourites list!Only one downfall...no pool or spa facilities.
