Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it! I prefer this hotel to any of the several other good hotels that I have stayed at in Birmingham. It is well located in the centre of everything and 5-10 minutes walk to the ICC. The rooms are comfortable and spacious (some with 2 double beds). I particularly love the club lounge. The staff have always been helpful and pleasant and I was pleased to be greeted by name and a friendly chat on my most recent visit. Perhaps they are getting to know me as I always choose this hotel now. The car parking is expensive and there is no discount for hotel guests in the adjacent one, but t is no more expensive than other car parks in the area (I did try a few out!) and more secure than some. Have switched to the Hilton in a lot of other cities, but Birmingham will not be joining that list yet. Club lounge was excellent and staff very pleasant and accomodating. February 2, 2014

Normally we have had executive rooms so was anxious to see what the room size would be.Very pleasantly surprised. Room seemed the same, excellent size with lounger chair and stool. Bed comfortable and could choose from pillow menu if wished.Bathroom smaller and without separate shower but still had the complimentary toiletries, and very nicely furnished so no problem.Nice touch the complimentary water, and tea making facilities also, used straight away while we waited for the hailstorm to pass.Used room service very late ( curry recommended)-excellent food and service. All in all a very comfortable stay would definateley recommend. January 30, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value! Tried Crowne Plaza for the first time. We weren't disappointed! Got a super price and was just over five minutes walk from New Street station. Nice big entrance though I'm not a fan of revolving doors. Immediately recognised as an IHG member and took the late check-out and free morning newspaper. The room was on the seventh floor, offering some good views. It was very large, heating good and had a mini-fridge and safe which I haven't seen at Holiday Inns. The only downside was the rather cramped en-suite. I think the toilet should've been placed where the sink is as it restricted the area for getting out of the bath. The water temperature and pressure was very good though. Would've preferred press button soap dispensers which I've seen at other hotels. This would save the waste of unfinished bars of soap. Used the bar but I wasn't sure if I got my 10% off as was mentioned at check-in. Talking if bars, this hotel was just around the corner from Broad Street. Overall, a very pleasant stay. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Birthday treat in Birmingham We stayed in a club room at the crowne plaza birmingham. check in was quick and efficient room was very nice. breakfast was excellent my only real complaint was that there was no rose wine at the club room bar . which i still dont understand why when red and white are both available so felt let down by this and would have made a big differtence to the overall enjoyment. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 An excellent stay Considering it is the Christmas period and the hotel was very busy with company parties, the guests were not treated any different. The staff were friendly and helpful and made me feel very welcome. The room was extremely comfortable and clean as well. I also arrived there very late for check-in which didnt seem to be a problem. The Crown Plaza in the centre of Birmingham is most certainly NOT one of them. I find the rooms comfortable, the food tasty and the staff friendly. There are cheaper places in Birmingham that's for sure but given its location and the qualities I mentioned earlier, I personally think the place is excellent and given the choice I make it my base whenever I am in need of accommodation in the midlands. Our room was very modern, spacious and comfortable. The restaurant food was excellent and staff throughout the hotel really friendly. Although the hotel doesn't have its own car park, there is a car park directly below with easy access to the hotel. December 3, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent. As Always. Stayed 23/11/13. Hotel was full but I was still upgraded to a Club Room as I am an IHG Rewards Platinum member. Much appreciated. Club Lounge was very busy from 5.30 to 7.30. But the staff in the Lounge coped very well. I haven't stayed @ the CP in Birmingham for a while but was surprised to see that they only serve wine and beer in the Lounge now and not a full bar! However it was a pleasant experience prior to an evening meal. Also had the Continental breakfast in the Club Lounge. Basic but very fulfilling. Will start to stay at the CP more in future trips to Brum. November 29, 2013

On arrival told they could not offer a room upgrade (something I was looking forward to as a Platinum Elite member) but offered a free drink in the form of a voucher (it was actually a book of vouchers). When I came to get a drink at the bar that evening the fee drink voucher was missing so went to bed! Even though we arrived at approx 14.30 the room was also not ready but they quickly made another one available The hotel itself was very clean and a great location for visiting Birmingham. The breakfast was very good and the room itself very modern with a great shower This is not the first time I've felt let down and wonder why they bother offering different statuses as, in my experience, it really makes no difference. Having said that I would certainly recommend this hotel, just don't expect to be treated as a valued customer November 28, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent room and location We had an enjoyable stay at Crowne Plaza in Birmingham. The most important thing, the room, was clean and decorated with class. No rooms where available at 5:30 pm when we arrived, so we were politely asked to wait for 15-30 minutes in the lobby. The service was good and we got few items that we needed to the room. The only weak point was the relatively high rate compared to similar hotels as well as the lack of breakfast in the room rate. However, we left pleased and will be happy to return again. We had such a wonderful experience the first time we stayed I did have reservations that the second time around things may not be so good. How wrong was I, the noise levels we very low, the room was immaculate and the whole feel of the hotel was calm and peaceful . Friendly staff and right in the heart of the city 10 out of 10. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic, except one small issue that let it down Another fantastic stay at the Crowne Plaza and would have been perfect if it weren't for the lazy attitude of Ana on reception. I just asked for some decaf tea to be told that no, only decaf coffee is available in our rooms. I mentioned I'd had decaf tea with breakfast on a previous visit to then be told that they never had decaf tea bag and only loose tea so I could pay for a cup at the bar. So I had to explain again I'd already stayed at the hotel and had decaf tea...the conversation went on a lot longer than it should have! She eventually picked up the phone to the resturant where the lovely who has been there for many years brought over the box of decaf tea bags and asked me how many I wanted...perfect. I have no idea why Ana didnt just do that in the first place rather than lying that the hotel 'never has decaf tea bags' on the hope I'd go away and she didn't have to bother herself, but her attitude and desire to argue with me left quite uncomfortable... She someone working on reception being doing everything they can to help customers, not the opposite November 13, 2013
