Great Central Location

18 December 2014

Only stayed the one night whilst visiting the Christmas Market.
Great central location. 5 minute walk from New Street Station and a couple of minutes walk to the city shops. Also the SeaLife Centre and Symphony Halls are only a very short walk.

Hotel was very good, clean and comfortable. Helpfulness of the staff was great. I had a couple of minor issues that were all resolved well.

The usual very hearty breakfast you expect from an IHG hotel.

Overall a great stay and would certainly recommend it.

Christmas Parties!

18 December 2014

I stay here most weeks and it is my Birmingham hotel fo choice. However, on arrival this week my normal preference of a quiet room was ignored, I was not recognised as a regular guest and put in room 201 - right over the Christmas parties going on. No room available for me to move to and no promised respopnse yet following my complaint.
Hopefully normla service will resume after Christmas - however reputation a little tarnished.

A Great Christmas Break

17 December 2014

Used the hotel to visit the Christmas market and do some shopping.
Hotel is ideally situated and has great facilities.

There was some noise due to demolition work next door but this was only an issue on the Monday - they kept the noise to a minimum over the weekend.

Small doubles as standard!

17 December 2014

Hello we recently stayed at your hotel to visit Birmingham Christmas Market admittedly we did not make use of many of your facilities but the only two things we used were disappointing. The bed size, a small double! When we queried with receptionist as we thought maybe we had mistakenly been given a business single room we were told "that all the beds were a standard size in all the double rooms". It's the first time I have stayed in a large Hotel with such small beds.

We asked for extra tea and never received them, we managed to purloin some from chamber maid next morning.

We did not use breakfast facilities as we are not keen on the sterile buffet breakfasts served in most large hotels nowadays. However if this is not the case in your hotel may be a marketing point as we did just assume maybe incorrectly. And the cost at £44 seems a bit excessive.
