We often stay at the Crowne Plaza when attending concerts etc at the nearby LG Arena or NEC and have always enjoyed our stays. However this time it was disappointing. I booked the room, well in advance, and requested a balcony. On check in we were indeed in a room with a balcony, the Hendrix Suite. Don't be fooled, this is not a suite! Its a normal size room with yes a balcony. I have stayed in suites here before, the Ian Brown suite. That is a suite. It has a large bed and separate sitting area with sofas etc. The Hendrix suite just has a bed (queen sized) small desk and one chair. Far from luxurious. We also usually grab a drink and light meal from the bar before going out. Oh dear. The staff are usually very quick to sit you down and serve you drinks, tray charge that way!. We sat next to a member of staff who was in deep conversation with people at the next table. After waiting 5 minutes we were not attended too. We moved to another table and again waited. After more time we placed our order directly at the bar and eventually got our drinks. We asked the waiter if we could order food and said she'd be back. No! Again we placed our order at the bar. After waiting 30 minutes + my wife asked why the wait. She was told, without any apology, that they were very busy. Fair enough but had we been told that when placing the food order we would have to wait 45 minutes for 2 burgers we would have been prepared. Eventually after chasing the order our food arrived. 2 gourmet burgers. One with cold chips the other raw. We did complain and were given a refund for food and drinks. But it spoiled and evening.Oh and the complimentary newspaper didnt arrive. We normally really enjoy our stays but will be looking elsewhere next time. This hotel needs to realise that not all guests are being funded by companies. Some people spend their own hard earned cash for a luxury hotel stay. Its disappointing when you dont get it.

Good location for attending NEC and concerts. Didn't sample any food so cant comment. Staff were excellent - very helpful and friendly. Nice Starbucks coffee in the bar. Would stay here in future

This is the third stay we have enjoyed at this hotel when we have been attending concerts at the LG Arena or in one case an event at the NEC. The hotel is just a few minutes walk from either. Rooms are excellent and our experiences have always been good - friendly helpful staff, good bar and restaurant. It's a bit on the expensive side, but the convenience is well worth it.

Despite the hotel being very quite over the weekend, all of the Staff were so friendly and attentive that you were made to feel very welcome.

I have stayed at this Crowne Plaza a few times and have always enjoyed my visit. On one occasion the air con unit was purring very loudly and they sent a repair man straight away and as he couldnt fix it they moved us to another room.
Customer service is always spot on.
We usually book for the breakfast and evening meal and this is great but when we stay for a few nights the set menu gets a bit boring it would be great to have a better selection. The food is very good.
Breakfast is busy so give yourself plenty of time.
Overall we enjoy this hotel and we would continue to stay here on future visits to NEC

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza NEC, family of 4, whilst attending the Beyonce concert at the LG Arena.
Excellent location just off the motorway and just a few minutes walk to the arena. Good quality hotel
However, the staff are the hotels greatest asset, offering top quality service and a great welcoming attitude. Special mention to Dagmara on Reception who looked after us checking in and checking out, there was slight delay getting to our room which Dagmara turned into a positive in the way she and her colleagues dealt with the issue.
We didn't use the hotel restaurant other than for breakfast which was very nice.
Look forward to returning

We stayed in a family room overnight so we could go to the wrestling at the LG Arena. The room was very spacious with its own lounge area and two comfortable beds. I cant fault a single thing about the room,the hotel or the service.
We will be staying again in September!

Nice welcome from the front desk and very helpful. The rooms are modern and very clean, bathroom nice size and clean. Bar is good with a nice view over looking the lake pendigo. Breakfast was fantastic and so was the bar/restaurant menu.
It's only about a 10minute walk to the LG arena but if you want to go into town the front desk are more than happy to book you a taxi.
I would stay here again in the near future.
