room 133 was lovely but situated above the staff car park so if you want to open a window you have the noise of staff coming and going,
we booked as a xmas present to ourselves as seeing rod stewart and being able to walk rather than get stuck in traffic seemed perfect.
we arrived early settled in the hotel lounge ordered a glass of wine(£9.55) and a coffee, already we could see the bar struggling ,tables not being cleared, food coming out without cutlery .
after the show the bar area at the hotel could not cope they had enough staff but only 2 tills the upshot being if you could get served staff had to queue to take money, although some of the grey suited people didnt seem to be enjoying themselves or understand customer service,my round came to £8.50 i offered £20 and got £8.50 change.
the hotel is lovely and situated in a prime site, apart from the building going on around it .

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Dromod Good service , central & pleasant BUT overpriced.
Breakfast at £15.95 p\p is expensive for what is provided. Location is excellent and free car park is a bonus. Breakfast room staff were very good and the foreign Supervisor was a real professional . In house movies are also over the top in terms of price. In room complimentary refreshments was very very poor. Reception staff were very professional and friendly. Bed was comfortable but room was a tad faded.

Convenient for the NEC concerts, shows etc.
Hotel is appealing in its design, staff are excellent. The food in the restaurant both for the evening meal and breakfast was cooked to perfection and of a very high quality.
The rooms are well laid out, comfortable, well equipped and functional.
Paying for Internet, in this day and age is extremely poor service.
Car park £10 overnight charge, OK if in London but we are on the back roads.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mickey1965 Good stay
Stopped for one night as we had a concert at the Arena.
Found the welcome very warm as we entered the reception, room were as expected, clean, tidy and well equipped.
The only negative was the service at the bar, it wasn't busy so went straight to the bar, we were told to take a seat and they would take our order. Then waited 15 minutes before we saw a waitress while half a dozen people got served at the very same bar that we were told to leave!
Small point but one I felt needed saying.
Overall worth a visit.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Realist disappointed
Excellent location and good outward appearance.
Initially disappointed that my perfectly serviceable bank debit card was not accepted and I was forced to arrange for a bank transfer at a cost of £25.
Room and bathroom furnishings were good but the air conditioning in our initial room was faulty and we spent an uncomfortable night.
Despite reporting this fault to the hotel reception the condition at the end of the following day was no different. Fortunately the lighting failed and we were moved to another room where everything worked.
The food was acceptable but unchanging and unimaginative. Breakfasts were again acceptable but everything was precooked and not freshly prepaired as we would have liked.
The best thing was its closeness to the NEC.
We ate out after our experience of dinner on the first night.

This is our fifth visit to this hotel and we have stayed here when we visit the LG Arena for a concert or the NEC for Gardener's World LIve or the Good Food Show. It is very convenient for both these venues.
The rooms are clean and inviting and the beds extremely comfortable. The staff are always helpful and the food normally good. However this time we were disappointed with the bar meal we had in the evening, fish and chips, which was slightly overdone and the fish was too wet. Unfortunately there was a large party of about 16 guests in the bar who were very loud and noisy. I know that this wasn't the hotel's fault but it did spoil the quiet ambiance and we had to move to nearer reception to finish our evening.
The breakfasts are normally very good but this time we felt the coffee provided was not up to their normal standards. We raised these points at reception when we checked out and the receptionist apologised and took us to the Starbucks counter and gave up two large complimentary coffees to take away with us which was a nice touch.
However these minor points have not stopped us visiting there again in the future if the needs arises.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Busman66 Convenient and classy
The main reason for my choosing this hotel was it's proximity to the NEC where I was attending an event there. Upon arrival I was pleased at the classy surroundings and interior of the hotel. My room was nicely laid out and the overall cleanliness and service I received were excellent, including excellent food. It is a place I will certainly return to in the future.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SomersetTraveller 4 star hotel, 5 star service
I can't praise the Crown Plaza enough for the service they provided my group of four guests recently. Everyone was friendly and polite and appeared to care about ensuring we had a good stay. We enjoyed food in the restaurant and drinks in the bar. The service in the bar was a little slow, but that is the only criticism I can make.
Where the service was really outstanding was in going the extra mile to ensure my elderly mother was comfortable and well-looked after. The Duty Manager offered to arrange a complementary taxi to take us to the NEC and even provided a return taxi too. We also received free disabled parking even though the website says parking is charged at £10 a day.
The rooms were very clean and in good order. Nicely decorated and great sound proofing which meant we didn't hear any noise from the nearby airport.
Great stay. Will return.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza at the NEC because we were going to a show at the LG arena, and thought it would be convenient. From the moment we stepped inside we were treated exceptionally well, recognized as Priority club members, and the whole check in experience was very straightforward, quick and painless. The room was bright, airy and clean, and the bed and the furnishings were very comfortable. We did not have time for dinner, so were looking forward to breakfast, and were not disappointed. The food was hot, the restaurant was clean, and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. I had the best scrambled eggs that I have had for a long while in a hotel. Overall, a great experience, and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Sylvie Comfortable bed, dreadful menu
Stayed here overnight between a concert and exhibitions. Hotel in general is fine and bed was very comfortable. Friendly staff, cleanliness good. However, I cannot eat wheat and we chose to have lunch in the bar. Every item on the menu contained wheat. When I asked a helpful young waitress what I could eat, she checked with the kitchen and came back to ask 'how intolerant to wheat are you?' Eventually I had the meat board without bread and a side order of chips. I completed a complaint form, after which my husband and I were given a complimentary drink. As I said at the time, how hard can it be to offer a jacket potato or an omelette? It is not an unusual dietary problem, so for this reason I would not recommend this hotel for anybody who has any food allergies or intolerances.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by AlexDB Overnight stay for training course
I booked a full Bed Breakfast and evening meal in one package for ease and convenience as I was attending a training course in the hotel early on the 11th June 2013.
The bathroom door locked shut when I had showered Upon arrival. Fortunately I was not inside the bathroom at the time as it would have taken until the maid cleaned the room the following day to release me. It was repaired promptly.
The evening meal offered was a limited selection from the menu, not what I was expecting or made clear when I booked.
Reception and restaurant made a big deal of me booking a time and table for my evening meal, I was one of two people eating. Close to a Two Ronnies sketch.
Grilled mushrooms for starter with grilled tomatoes.
Chickens Skewers (one arrived on plate) with, grilled tomatoes.
Very little imagination.
Breakfast was usual buffet and a high standard.
It served a purpose however I would look an at alternate hotel should the need arise again.
In summary, the English demonstrating that we can supplyi the absolute bare minimum.

Stayed here a few times as it is very close to the LG arena. Rooms are comfortable and the beds super comfortable. Staff were attentive and helpful. Good Breakfast with long time slot.
My only down points are the charge for Car parking, not the English way of doing things. Also the quality of food in the restaurant at dinner while OK it does not live up the the prices charged

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Liz48 Great Proximity to LG Arena
The stay was effortless from check in to check out. My only disappointment was that the fridge in my room did not work. I was attending a concert - a present for my boyfriend's 50th birthday and it was great that we were able to stay so close to the venue. We ate in the hotel restaurant - the food was excellent and was served quickly - albeit a little pricey - I had king prawn and salmon risotto £11 approx. and the other meal was a steak with a very very small number of chips - at £17.00 approx. a little expensive.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Angela8506 Well placed hotel, excellent room & service
Location was perfect - went to see a concer at NEC. Very spacious room, comfortable, excellent facilities. Breakfast was very good. Will definitely stay there again. Much better & easier than going to some London venues.
Only Critism is that the hair dryer is a bit awkward to use - you have to hold the lid whilst trying to dry your hair. There is also no mirror to see what you are doing.
Apart from that it was perfect.

We had a wonderful time on our weekend break.
The weekend was value for money and very handy to access the LG Arena.
The food and drink was good, however, I found a little pricey.
However, the comfortable bed and room was clean and bright.
We would recommend this hotel overall.

I stay at this hotel whenever we visit the LG Arena and have always managed to get a good deal. The cleanliness and presentation of the rooms is always excellent. The most striking of its attributes is the attitude of the staff. Without exception , the staff are friendly and extremely helpful. They are a credit to the manager who has obviously done his job well. The charges for Wi-Fi are ridiculous, as are other hotel chains and the breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. I refuse to queue for 10 mins to gain a slice of toast! Overall I will always choose this hotel to others in close proximity.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by chrisffffffffffffff Poorly maintained room
I stay at this hotel regularly and it is generally very good. However on this occasion the room had several annoying faults that spoiled my stay and I didn't have time to deal with due to my schedule.
Kettle didn't work
Door closer didn't work - I found myself in the room with the door wide open having expected it to close behind me.
Noise from plumbing or ventilation system continuous throughout the night making sleep impossible.

One of worst experiences. Last time when I stayed I was asked for feedback and I said about my room being a twin. And I was promised next time you wont get one.
NO action was taken and I got a twin room this time as well. And below list my problems:
1. The Air-con wasn't working and for 2 nights I had to keep my windows opens to get sleep even after calling reception and telling about this problem again and again
2. The fridge in the room wasn't working
3. The toiletries weren't filled for my 2nd night stay
4. Over and above all the food was of worse quality. I had order a chicken pasta and my plate was filled with oil.

We often stay at the Crowne Plaza when attending concerts etc at the nearby LG Arena or NEC and have always enjoyed our stays. However this time it was disappointing. I booked the room, well in advance, and requested a balcony. On check in we were indeed in a room with a balcony, the Hendrix Suite. Don't be fooled, this is not a suite! Its a normal size room with yes a balcony. I have stayed in suites here before, the Ian Brown suite. That is a suite. It has a large bed and separate sitting area with sofas etc. The Hendrix suite just has a bed (queen sized) small desk and one chair. Far from luxurious. We also usually grab a drink and light meal from the bar before going out. Oh dear. The staff are usually very quick to sit you down and serve you drinks, tray charge that way!. We sat next to a member of staff who was in deep conversation with people at the next table. After waiting 5 minutes we were not attended too. We moved to another table and again waited. After more time we placed our order directly at the bar and eventually got our drinks. We asked the waiter if we could order food and said she'd be back. No! Again we placed our order at the bar. After waiting 30 minutes + my wife asked why the wait. She was told, without any apology, that they were very busy. Fair enough but had we been told that when placing the food order we would have to wait 45 minutes for 2 burgers we would have been prepared. Eventually after chasing the order our food arrived. 2 gourmet burgers. One with cold chips the other raw. We did complain and were given a refund for food and drinks. But it spoiled and evening.Oh and the complimentary newspaper didnt arrive. We normally really enjoy our stays but will be looking elsewhere next time. This hotel needs to realise that not all guests are being funded by companies. Some people spend their own hard earned cash for a luxury hotel stay. Its disappointing when you dont get it.
